Places of Interest
Sri Arappaleeswarar temple:
On top of the hills called chathuragiri is one of the oldest Lord Shiva’s temple where Lord Shiva is worshipped in the form of Lingam It is believed that the this Lord has the power to bring life back . Tale goes that a tourist severed a fish taken out of the streams flowing on the hill & the lord intervened & gave the fish its life back, with which jumped & swam away. A three day festival concluding with Pathinettaam Perukku in the month of Aadi (June / July) attracts several devotees here.
Agasakangai waterfall :
Near the Temple one will have to descend 750 steps to reach the breathtaking Agasakangai waterfall from a height over 100 feet. These steps are not our regular household steps, they are 1-1/2 to 2 times our household steps. It takes 45 minutes to go down to the waterfalls & 1 hour to climb back. The scenery that you see while going down the steps is photo perfect. When you walk half way through the steps, you will hear the thunderous sound of the waterfalls.
