Lemurs, Baobabs and Spiny forest is a trip of 14 days and 13 nights including the rainforest of Madagascar, home of the BIGGEST LEMURS in the WORLD.
Then, take a flight and discover the west of Madagascar, with its warm and dry climate. The sceneries and the wildlife of this region are UNIQUE and worth to see.
From Morondava, drive toward the world-famous Baobab Avenue begin, the most photographed place all over Madagascar. Then discover the Kirindy private reserve with its very high endemism rate of reptile. Other wildlife is abundant as well and waits to be discovered: fosa, mongoose, sifakas, birds… and giant jumping rats for the luckiest!
End your stay in the spiny forest of Berenty, discover the famous dancing lemurs and other species of lemurs as well as birds.

Day wise Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrival – Antananarivo

Arrival in Antananarivo from your flight abroad. After the different formalities at the custom area, meeting and greeting of a representant of ALEXANDRA TRAVEL.
Then, you will be transferred to your hotel. Accomodation on halfboard at PAVILLON DE L’EMYRNE 3 Star or similar.
Day 2 : Antananarivo – Andasibe 160km ( 03hours – 4hours )

After the breakfast, meet and departure straight to Andasibe through the typical landscape of the island and the eastern rain forest. Stop along the way for visiting the Peyreiras reptile’s farm where you can enjoy observing different endemic species of chameleons, frogs, lizards, geckoes, snakes. Arrival in Andasibe, check-in at your hotel. Before diner, evening walk at the Mitsinjo association private forest.
Accommodation on half board basis at VAKONA LODGE 3 Star or similar for 02 nights.
Day 3 : Andasibe

Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning, enjoy a visit of the primary forest of the Mantadia National Park where diurnal lemur species as the Black and white ruffed lemur, the diademed sifaka lemur, the common brown lemur, the eastern grey bamboo lemur and the red bellied lemur might be spotted as well as different endemic species of birds. Back to the hotel after the visit. In the afternoon, enjoy a visit of the Vakona private reserve which is comprising two different places: its crocodile’s farm and its lemur island.
Day 4 : Andasibe – Antananarivo

Breakfast at the hotel. Morning visit of the Analamazaotra reserve which is a special reserve for the Indri Indri, the largest living lemur.
After the visit, drive back to Antananarivo. Accommodation on halfboard basis at the PAVILLON DE L’EMYRNE 3 star or similar.
Day 5 : Antananarivo – Fort Dauphin – Berenty (flight: Everyday)

After breakfast, transfer to the airport and flight to Fort Dauphin. Upon your arrival in Fort Daulphin, meet and drive straight to Berenty which is located at about 84km from the town. Stop on the way for photos: fruits market, the Antanosy tribe funerary art, spiny forests, baobab trees, sisal plantation….. Arrival in Berenty, installation at the hotel.
If time allows in the afternoon, take a first walk within the gallery forest for spotting lemur and birds. Night walk within the spiny forest for spotting nocturnal species as the grey Mouse lemur and the white footed sportive lemur. Accommodation on half board basis at the BERENTY LODGE for 02nights.
Day 6 : Berenty

All day spent for exploring the Berenty private reserve and its surroundings. Three species of diurnal lemurs are easily seen within this reserve including the ring tailed lemur, the sifaka lemur and the red fronted brown lemur as well as different endemic species of birds. Endemic birds as the Giant Coua, crested coua, chabert’s Vanga, Madagascar sparrow hawks, Madagascar Harrier hawks, Sooty falcon…. Might be spotted as well during your visit.
Day 7 : Berenty – Fort Dauphin.

Breakfast at the hotel. Morning last visit within the reserve. In the afternoon, drive back to Fort Dauphin. Accommodation on half board basis at the LE CROIX DU SUD HOTEL 3 Star or similar.
Day 8 : Fort Dauphin – Antananarivo. (flight)

Breakfast at the hotel. At leisure until departure. Transfer to the airport and fly to Antananarivo. Upon your arrival at Ivato airport, meet and transfer to your hotel. Accommodation on HALFBOARD at Pavillon de l’Emyrne 3 Star for 02Nights
Day 9 : Antananarivo

In the morning, visit of the botanical and zoological garden of Tsimbazaza. In the afternoon, discover Antananarivo, its colorful life, its history and architecture. We will walk through the busy and vibrant streets of the capital. We will start in the lower city, walk through the avenue of Independence, and visit the Analakely market, the famous stairs of Antananarivo to reach the business center of the capital. We continue our ascent and you will be introduced to the architecture and urbanism of the capital of Madagascar from the Old City. We visit the Palace of the Queen before ending our day with a beautiful sundowner overlooking the city with some wine and foie gras. Accommodation on halfboard basis.
Day 10 : Antananarivo – Morondava – Kirindy (flight)

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the airport and flight to Morondava. Meeting upon arrival and drive to Kirindy. Installation in your room and possibility to do a diurnal visit in this drive deciduous forest for discovering its wildlife. Another visit in the afternoon. Evening walk before the dinner to discover nocturnal species of animals.... Accommodation on half board at for 02Nights at Kirindy Lodge or similar.
Day 11 : Kirindy: Excursion and Visit At Kirindy Reserve

Breakfast at the hotel. Today you will embark for a journey excursion to the Kirindy Reserve.
Back to the hotel after the visit.
The area comprises one of the most outstanding and threatened wildlife habitats in Madagascar: the dry deciduous forest. Dominated by majestic baobab trees and a forest canopy, this protected area of approximate 100 square kilometres is the only place where the world's smallest known primate, the giant jumping rat, occurs.
Kirindy is the best place in the whole island to observe the Fosa in the wild, especially during the mating time between October and December.
It also home to two different diurnal lemur species among it the common brown lemurs and the Verreaux's sifakas as well as the different endemic birds as the Couas, Vangas, Mesites, hawks etc.
Day 12 : Kirindy - Marofandilia - Morondava

Breakfast at the hotel. Last morning spent for exploring the Marofandilia Forest. In the afternoon, drive back to Morondava with stop at the “Allée des Baobabs” for enjoying a sunset time. Accommodation on half board basis at the KIMONY RESORT 3 Star or similar
Day 13 : Morondava – Antananarivo (flight)

Breakfast at the hotel. Flight back to Antananarivo. Arrival in Antananarivo, meet and transfer to your hotel. Accommodation on half board at PAVILLON DE L’EMYRNE 3 Star or similar.
Day 14 : Antananarivo - Nairobi

Breakfast at the hotel. Possibility to do a short city tour and shopping at la digue market before the transfer to the airport. Check in and fly back to Nairobi.
