Package Overview

The single species of Sypheotides is the lesser florican, sometimes referred to as the likh or kharmore. It is the smallest member of the bustard family. It is only found in tall grasslands on the Indian Subcontinent, where it is endemic. Males perform leaping breeding displays there during the monsoon season.

Few thousand lesser floricans are known to exist, but they are only visible from July to September when they are more active and male display to attract the mate.

Day wise Itinerary

Day 1 : Jaipur

Morning arrives at Jaipur Airport. Meets Wild India Journey representative and drive to hotel. Afternoon visit to the Jhalana leopard safari park looking for Indian Leopard, Striped Hyena, Indian Pitta, Paradise Flycatcher, Jungle Nightjar and many other unique flora and fauna of the park. Overnight in a hotel.

Day 2 : Pushkar

Morning Visit to the Jhalana leopard safari park. After Lunch drive to Pushkar, Ajmer. Overnight in a hotel.

Meals: Breakfast & Lunch in Jaipur, Dinner in Pushkar

Day 3 : Sonkhaliya

Early morning with pack breakfast drive to Sonkhaliya. Full day birding in Sonkhaliya and adjoining areas looking for Lesser Florican, Rain Quail, Rock Bush Quail, Indian Eagle Owl, Painted Francolin, Indian and Savana Nightjar, Indian Courser, Chestnut-bellied Sandgrouse and many more. Evening back to Pushkar. Overnight in hotel.

Meals: Packed breakfast from the hotel. Lunch in a restaurant near Sonkhaliya. Dinner at hotel.

Day 4 : Sonkhaliya

Early morning drive back to Sonkhaliya. Full day birding in and around Sonkhaliya looking for the photographic view of the Lesser Florican and other missing targets. Evening back to Pushkar. Overnight in hotel.

Meals: Packed breakfast from the hotel. Lunch in a restaurant near Sonkhaliya. Dinner at hotel.

Day 5 : Pushkar

Full day birding in the Pushkar forest and adjoining areas looking for the White-naped Tit, Marshalls Iora, White-bellied Minivet, Grey-bellied Cuckoo, Streek-throated Swallow, Roufus-tailed Lark and other unique flora and fauna of the Pushkar Forest. Overnight in hotel.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
