Your trek will commence with an exciting flight to the mountain airstrip at Lukla and from here our trek will follow in the footsteps of famous mountaineers for the pilgrimage to the Everest Base Camp. During the trek, you will encounter many colorful prayer flags and several monasteries along the way, finding yourself culturally immersed in the heart of the Buddhist Sherpa country.
The 19 Day trek itinerary is especially designed to fulfill the dreams of many people to experience the historic route to the base camp of the world's highest mountain. You will have a number of rest days that offer an exceptional way to acclimatize properly. As this is your trip of a lifetime, we will walk slow and steady without any rush to safely trek high altitudes in the Himalaya. There will be ample time for your body and mind to acclimatize to the varying altitudes. On this trek, a slow ascent through wonderful Sherpa villages allows us time to enjoy the scenery, wildlife and to visit a number of monasteries. Also, it provides us the opportunity to trek to both Everest Base Camp and the nearby peak of Kala Pattar (5545m) for breathtaking sights of Mount Everest.

Day 1 : Arrival Day in Kathmandu (1400m)
Welcome to the Land of Himalayas! On your arrival, Access Nepal representative would pick up you from airport and transfer to your hotel in Kathmandu. After check in to hotel, time for refreshment.
Evening, we will have a group meeting and introduction at 5:30 at our Office (Your Access Nepal Guest relation officer pick up you from your hotel at 5:00 PM). In the office we will have a trek briefing session, introduction to your trek leader and trip discussion. Then, you would be transferred to one of the typical Nepalese Restaurant (Nepali Chulo) for the welcome Dinner (We eat Dal Bhat- Typical Nepalese Food), enjoy eating local food with cultural and ethnical dance. O/N at Kathmandu.Airports pick up and accomodation at hotel in Kathmandu with breakfast is included
Day 2 : Sightseeing of Kathmandu Valley (1400m) and Trek Preparation Day
Kathmandu is the historical and cultural heart of Nepal and has been a popular destination for tourists ever since Nepal opened its doors to visitors. The city presents a wonderful mix of Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism and Western influences in the Valley. Our guided tour comprises of memorable attractions such as the biggest Hindu shrine of Pashupatinath, the largest Buddhist stupa in Nepal - Boudhanath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, and famous Monkey Temple in Swayambhunath. After the day sightseeing tour, we drive back to the hotel to pack our equipment and amenities for the trek. With the remaining spare time, you may explore the Thamel Market and nearby shops for last minute shopping of trekking supplies. Day 3 : Fly Kathmandu to Lukla (2840m) and Trek to Phakding (2610 M)
Our flight to Lukla is early in the morning (From 6:30- 8:00 AM), so you will be transferred to Kathmandu domestic airport . Though, 3 shifts of eight aircrafts daily fly to Lukla, sometimes because of the bad weather every plane is grounded. So, there are chances you may have to wait for your turn to fly to Lukla. Once you fly on a 19 seater twin otter plane to Lukla, the journey is scenic and at times it is thrilling. After 25 minutes of scenic and thrilling flight, you will land at the airstrips of Lukla which hangs on the cliff at 2800m. On your arrival at Lukla, you will be cordially welcomed by your trek guide and instantly begin the trekking adventure to Everest Base Camp!Mountain Accommodation with Full board of meals (breakfast, Lunch and Dinner) is included
Day 4 : Trek from Phakding(2610 M) to Namche (3440m)
Today, the first half day of the trek, gradually ascends up to the Dudh Koshi Valley. The trial goes through several suspension bridges from one hill to another hill. After 2 hours of pleasant walk we arrive at Sagarmatha National Park entrance in Manjo. We need to produce our TIMS card and National Park Permit at the Entrance. We will stop at Jorsale for the lunch. Jorsale is is the last village before Namche. Beyond Jorsale, we chase the trial that arrives to the longest bridge in the valley, then a short walk brings you to the deep and short, Hillary Bridge. The trial after Hillary Bridge is a 3-hour painstaking steep uphill climb to Sherpa capital, Namche. then we have a long hill up(almost of 3 hours on slow and steady) to reach Namche. The hard efforts put to arrive at Namche offers with the big reward- the first view of Everest. On reaching to the top, of the hill, we will settle into our Lodge. Dinner & O/N at Mt. Day 5 : Acclimatization Day in Namche Bazaar (3440m)
Today, we will have our first acclimatization day of the trek! Higher the altitude, thinner the air- we need to gain altitude slowly and steadily so that we get enough time to acclimatize en route, to Everest Base Camp 5357m. However, the acclimatization day does not mean to chill with the beer at Namche. We hike to a hill above Namche, which is one and half hours hike. The view of Mt. Everest with great panorama of Khumbu Himalayas are spectacular from Syangboche.Mountain Accommodation with Full board of meals (breakfast, Lunch and Dinner) is included
Day 6 : Namche(3440m) to Tengboche(3860m)
Today, we will hike to Tengboche from Nacmhe. After breakfast at Nacmhe Lodge, we will start our hike through the ridge of the hillside, enjoying the great views of Mt. Kusum Kangaru, Thamserku & Ama Dablem on the right across the valley. First one hour of trekking is straight through the hillside, followed by the descend to the river valley where we will have our lunch. Post lunch, will have ascend through the sup- tropical forested hills to Tengboche for overnight. Tengboche has biggest Monastery in Khumbu, where we can see monks indulged in humming sacred religious Buddhists prayers. The dramatic rise of Mt. Ama Dablam at the backdrop of Tengboche Monastery is the eye-feasting view at Tengboche. Day 7 : Tengboche (3860m) to Dingboche(4410m)
Mt. Ama Dablam backdrop at Tengboche Monastery, looks even more striking in the morning. Enjoy the view and the breakfast and resume the trek. Today's trek begin with the short descend. We will have pleasant walking through the treeline for 30 minutes, and after crossing the bridge on local stream, as treeline ends, we will start walking in dry and deserted hill. Walking in dry hill along the rock stwern trail we gradually slide up crossing through the typical Sherpa villages like Pangboche and Shomare before we finally reach to the Dingboche for overnight.Mountain Accommodation with Full board of meals (breakfast, Lunch and Dinner) is included
Day 8 : Acclimatization Day in Dingboche (4410m)
Today we have one more acclimatization day. After the breakfast, we have option of visit to the Chhukung Hill, or visit to Chhukung Village to Island Peak Base Camp areas, Imja Valley etc. After lunch, you would basically have free time for rest and relax. O/N at Mt. LodgeMountain Accommodation with Full board of meals (breakfast, Lunch and Dinner) is included
Day 9 : Trek from Dingboche (4410m) to Chhukung (4730m)
From Dingboche (4410m) we start the trek to Chhukung (4730m), which is about four hours of wonderful mountain hike. The trail gradually ascends up to Chhukung. On the way, we can see scores of summer huts made especially for keeping livestock in the summer and we also can enjoy the beautiful mountain views in and around the valley. Stay overnight at Chhukung.Mountain Accommodation with Full board of meals (breakfast, Lunch and Dinner) is included
Day 10 : Trek from Chhukung to Chhukung Ri (5550m) to Lobuche (4910m) Via Dughla (4620m)
We start to trek from Chhukung to Lobuche 4910m via Chhukung Ri (5550m) and Dughla (4620m). It is a great six hours walk today. From Chhukung Ri you will have stunning views of Mt. Nuptse (7896m), Mt.Lhotse (8511m), Baruntse peak (6800m),Ama Dablam peak(6856m),Thamserku peak (6608m), Konde Ri or peak(6187m), Tawoche peak(6542m), Cholotse peak (6441m) and more. You then begin your trek to Lobuche via Dughla which offers you a panoramic view of the mountains along the way. The final part of today's trek climbs gently along the glacier, to eventually reach the cluster of houses at Lobuche. Day 11 : Trek from Lobuche (4910m) to Everest Base Camp (5357m) Via Gorakshep (5140m)
This is our day to reach Everest Base Camp (EBC). After breakfast, we walk along the rocky terrain alongside the Khumbu glacier to EBC. It is straightforward slow paced glacial walk for 2 and ½ hours. Everest Base Camp is along the side in Khumbu Glacier. We’ll take our time inspecting the Khumbu ice fall, visit ice areas and glacier part in EBC, enjoy the great Himalayas and make best photos & Videos, then return back to Gorekshep for the lunch. If it happens to be an Everest expedition season (Mostly in spring at April & May), you could also see the tented camps of climbers who are preparing to their safe attempt to Mt. Everest, thus this place is named Everest Base Camp! In evening, we return back to Gorakshep for overnight.Mountain Accommodation with Full board of meals (breakfast, Lunch and Dinner) is included
Day 12 : : Trek from Gorakshep (5140m) to Kala Patthar (5550m) and Then to Pheriche (4240m)
After the breakfast, the short trekking through a glacier moraine brings us to Gorekshep (2 hours). After a quick settlement, and lunch, we will then start hiking to a big black rock hill to Kalapathar just above Gorekshep. This hike is straight uphill climb for 2 and hours. The trek to Gorakshep could be tough cold as the place is very windy so prepared with warm clothing. The summit of Kala Patter or “Black Rock” offers us the great big views of Mt. Everest (8848m/29000ft) including the full spread of Khumbu Himalayas- truly an unobstructed view of the highest mountain in the world. Alongside, Mt. Pumori looks great close up. As the sunset, the views are more colourful. We will have time to take great photos and videos at Kalapattar before, we trek back to Periche via Gorekshep and Lobuche for the overnight stay.Mountain Accommodation with Full board of meals (breakfast, Lunch and Dinner) is included
Day 13 : Trek from Pheriche (4240m) to Phortse (3810m)
Wake up with the glimpse of Himalayas with sunrise, enjoy the last views of the great high Khumbu Himalayas while having breakfast, then we will start to descend! We will retrace the trail back to Pangboche and then take a right to steep uphill climb that arrives to Phortse. At Phortse, the trials to Namche and Gokyo Valley branch. Till now, Phortse has many farmers who are depend on potato and buckwheat farming here, but Phortse is also known for producing many climbing Sherpa’s. Day 14 : Trek from Phortse (3810m) to Khumjung (3780m)
Breakfast, then we will descend to the riverside to Phortse thanga, across the river then start gradual uphill to Kyanjuma passing through Tashinga village. From Kyanjuma, we will have steps of walking hill up for minimum of 40 minutes to reach to Khumjumg Village where we will be staying for this night. Khumjung Village has typical trail through the village houses (Sherpas called it Chotens- a memorial stupas made in a memory of their lost family member), it has Sherpa School for secondary education (Only one of Khumbu), and we could also visit Khumbu Hospital in Kunde which always has western Doctors available (With collaboration with Himalayan Rescue Association) for basic treatment of AMS. Day 15 : Trek from Khumjung (3780m) to Thame (3800m)
Breakfast at Mt. Lodge, then we begin the hiking to Thame, which is remote village but old salt trade route to Tibet. ( But now only a Tibetan comes from this route at spring for selling their handcraft or clothing).Trek from Khumjung (3780m) to Thame (3800m) stretches for about four hours. Thame is a place where you can visit many ancient monasteries and can experience real Sherpa culture. Beautiful mountain views are also readily available. Stay overnight at Thame.Mountain Accommodation with Full board of meals (breakfast, Lunch and Dinner) is included
Day 16 : Trek from Thame (3800m) to Monjo (2835m)
Trek from Thame (3800m) to Monjo (2835m) takes about six hours. While trekking from Thame to Monjo you come across a few Sherpa settlements and will meet friendly Sherpa people. Trekking this day is little bit easier in comparison to other days. Monjo is a small village and the area is mainly for agriculture. Stay overnight at Monjo.Mountain Accommodation with Full board of meals (breakfast, Lunch and Dinner) is included
Day 17 : Trek from Monjo (2835m) to Lukla (2840m)
Trek from Monjo to Lukla (2840m) takes about four and half hours. This day the trail gradually descends and then ascends as well as you cross the Dudh Koshi River over suspension bridges throughout the day. Stay overnight at Lukla.Mountain Accommodation with Full board of meals (breakfast, Lunch and Dinner) is included
Day 18 : Fly from Lukla (2840m) to Kathmandu (1400m)
Today we take an early morning flight back to Kathmandu from Lukla . On arriving at Kathmandu, we transfer you to your hotel and there you may take rest or explore around the Thamel. Overnight at Kathmandu.Kathmandu Hotel with breakfast is included
Day 19 : Departure Day from Kathmandu (1400m)
Today your trip comes at end. After breakfast at your hotel, you have now free time . If it is the day that you fly back home/ onward travel destination, we will transfer you to airport on time. Or you could extend your stay or you may get our assistance for additional activities that you are interested in.
