Package Overview

Gokyo Valley Trekking is perhaps the most extravagant trekking in the Everest region, this trek is considered an unconventional route to the traditional Everest Base Camp and offers splendid views of the mountain peaks and the Ngozumpa- the largest glacier in the Nepal Himalayas & second in the world. The trek provides an excellent opportunity to see a view of Mt. Everest at close range. One of the most amazing features of the Gokyo valley trekking is the view of marvelous ice ridge between Mt. Cho Oyu and Gyachung (2922m) located in Khumbu region.

The image of this region is associated with the elevated views of the most popular mountains such as Mt. Cho-Oyo (8153m), Mt. Everest (8848m), Mt. Lhotse (8501m), Makalu (8463m) etc. which are clearly visible from Gokyo Peak (5360m.) & hike from 4th & 5th lakes.Our trek start after a thirty 30 minute flight from Kathmandu landing at Lukla by tiny airstrip, then our adventure really begins. We spend the next few days trekking and interacting amongst the mountain people also known as Sherpa’s we stay at local lodges and trek into the heartland of their villages. Everything is organized in conjunction with local Sherpa guides.

Along the trek we will pass Buddhist monasteries with the views of Everest and other snow towering mountains getting closer by the day. We will have rest days in the villages of Namche bazaar that will allow us to explore the region and to acclimatize, which is very important. After Climbing Gokyo Peak (5483 meters), we return at a leisurely pace back to Namche and Lukla for our flight back to Kathmandu.Lunch and Dinner in Kathmandu

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) Kathmandu

  You are welcomed by hospitable meeting and then you will be transferred to hotel. Our airport representative will explain briefly the program upon arrival. Overnight at Hotel.

• Day 2 : Trek preparation and Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing Tour

  Sightseeing of world heritage sites in Kathmandu valley including, Kathmandu Darbar square, Swayambhunath Temple , Boudhanath Stupa & Pashupatinath Temple. Overnight at Hotel.

• Day 3 : Kathmandu Lukla - Phakding (2652m) 3 Hrs

  Early morning transfer to airport for flight to Lukla. The flight into Lukla is a lifetime experience, in itself. The airfield is on an evaluation and the difference between the two ends of the runway is about 60 meters!then trek to Phakding 2800m with green landscape & view of Kusum kangraru. Overnight at Guest House.

• Day 4 : Trek to Namche Bazar (3440m) 6 Hrs

  After you finished your guide will lead the trail continues north up the Dudh Kosi valley with brilliant views of Thamserku & Kusum kangraru tothe Munzo, just beyond the Munzo you will see huge building of Sagarmatha National Park Entrance Gate, where trekking permits are checked and National Park fees collected,then trek down and cross the Jorsale Bridge, This is the last place to Namche Bazar so we recommended you to have lunch or some snacks! make sure you have enough water. The trail continue along the Dudh Kosi River after two more brides begins the steep climb up to Namche Bazaar 3441m, the administrative center of the Sagarmatha National Park and the hub of Sherpa society. Overnight at Guest House.

• Day 5 : Acclimatization day in Namche bazaar – Hike to Everest view hotel (3900m) 3-4 hours

  This is a day for acclimatization, we will hike shyangbuche airport 3700m, this suppose to height airport in the world. Then continue climbing to Mt. Everest view hotel where we we have great panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, Amadablam, Tawache etc. On the way back after lunch or before lunch we will have enough time to visit Sherpa culture museum and Everest photo Gallery. Overnight at Guest House.

• Day 6 : Trek to Dole (4200m) 5 Hrs.

  The trails easy in the begging up to Kyangjuma & climb steeply out of the valley through rhododendron forests, which give way to fragrant stands of juniper and large conifers as the elevation increases. This trek is especially beautiful in spring when the rhododendrons are blooming. The trails pass many Kharkas, summer settlements used when Sherpas bring herds of yaks to graze in these high pastures. The route passes through the settlement s of Tongba (3950m) and Gyele (3960m) to Dole where there're few hotels. The views of Khumbila and Tawache (6542m) are incredible throughout the day!! Overnight at Guest House.

• Day 7 : Trek to Machhermo (4400m) 5 Hrs.

  Trail climbs to Lambara at (4220m) and Luza at (4360m). The tails is steep in most places as it climbs through brush junipers. There're Kharkas whenever there is a flat spot and the slightest hint of water. The trails continue to climb along the side of the valley, high above the river, crossing sandy spurs to Machhermo at (4410m). Here was in Machhermo in 1974 that Yeti killed three yaks and attached a Sherpa woman. This is the most credit yeti incident ever reported. Overnight at Guest House.

• Day 8 : Trek to Gokyo Lake (4700m) 4 Hrs.

  We climbs a ridge for an excellent view both down the valley to Kantega and up towards Cho-Oyu (8201m). Beyond the ridge the valley widens as the trail passes through Pangka at (4390m) then descends to the riverbank before beginning of climb on to the terminal moraine of the Ngozumpa Glacier. It's a steep climb up the moraine, switch backing alongside the stream to the first small Lake at (4650m), where a family of green Brainy ducks resides. The trail now becomes almost level at (4690m). Overnight at Guest House.

• Day 9 : Hike to Gokyo RI (5360m) 4 Hrs

  Early wake up and climb up to the Gokyo-Ri, for panoramic view of Mahalangur Himalayan range, it takes approximately 2hrs climb to the top of the peak, providing a panoramic view of Cho-Oyu, Gyachung Kang, Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cholatse and Tawache & a great looking of Ngozumpa glacier a largest glacier in Nepal. Then decent to Gokyo and relax with your Lunch & hot tea. Overnight at Guest House.

• Day 10 : Trek to Dole (4200m) 5 Hrs. Overnight at Guest House
