Package Overview

If you want to avoid the crowds of Zanzibar, head south of the Archipelago, to Mafia Island. Surrounded by some of the richest coral reefs in the world this is a paradise for divers and snorkelers. Here you can see whale sharks, humpback whales and turtles. The southern half of Mafia is a part of Mafia Marine Park, a nature park of mangrove forest, coral reefs and lagoons. It’s a beautiful hide-away with white sandy beaches and turquoise water, no tarmac roads and only a few hotels and shops. They say it’s like Zanzibar 30 years ago, still very pure and untouched.

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Arrival Mafia

  Arrival Mafia Airport, transfer to Chole Bay.
• Day 2 : Beach day

  Relax at your beach accommodation and view the dozens of flying foxes passing while you have your sun downer at the end of the day.
• Day 3 : Chole Bay

  Early morning you can go on a snorkeling tour to see the famous whale shark. Return for lunch and have a nice swim in the wonderful Chole Bay. The water of this diving and snorkeling paradise, is far more refreshing than anywhere else around the Zanzibar Archipelago.
• Day 4 : Chole Island

  Transfer by boat to Chole Island where you see small villages built from coral and wood frames and the ruins from the Omani Era. You stay in a tree house built around a huge baobab tree overlooking the mangroves and the Indian Ocean.
• Day 5 : Sailing

  Between June and September you can see hundreds of baby turtles make their scramble from their nest on the beach to the warm Indian Ocean Waters. Return for lunch and enjoy a sundowner at the dhow (traditional sailing boat) sunset cruise at the end of the day.
• Day 6 : Snorkeling & diving

  Today you go on a boat to one of the many deserted sandbanks for a snorkeling or scuba diving trip and lunch. Return to your treehouse in the afternoon to enjoy dinner and the spectacular views.
• Day 7 : Mafia Airport

  Transfer to Mafia Airport for your outbound flight.
