Day wise Itinerary

Day 1 : Delhi - Manali: Drive 553 Kms

We Start the Tour from Delhi Drive to Manali Via Chandigarh. Arrive Manali By Evening and Transfer to Hotel for Overnight Stay.

Day 2 : Manali (2,025 M)

Morning After Breakfast We Visit Kullu, Parvati Valley and Manikaran and Return Back to Manali By Evening. if Time Permits We Can Go for Local Sightseeing At Hadimba Temple, Manu Temple, Club House and Return to Hotel for Overnight Stay.

Sarchu (also Called Sir Bhum Chun), a Tented Camp in the Himalayas On the Leh-manali Highway, On the Boundary Between Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh (jammu and Kashmir) in India. It is Situated Between Baralacha La to the South and Lachulung La to the North, At An Altitude of 4,290 M. the Journey Along the Manali-leh Highway At High Altitude and Variable Road Conditions, Normally Takes Two Days, So Travellers and Tourists Use this Spot as An Overnight Stop. An Indian Army Camp is Sited Nearby On the Banks of the Tsarap Chu River. the Highway and Thus the Camp are Closed During the Winter, When Snow Blocks the High Passes Along the Road.

HEMIS (45 KMS. SOUTH OF LEH)

Built on a green hillside surrounded by spectacular mountains, Hemis is the biggest and the most important monastery in Ladakh. It was built in the 17th century by Chapgon Gyalshas and ever since has enjoyed the patronage of the royal family. Hemis is the headquarter of the Drukpa order and all the monasteries throughout Ladakh are administered by it. This wealthiest monastery contains gold statues and stupas decorated with precious stones and many priceless old Thankas.

THIKSEY (25 KMS SOUTH OF LEH)

Thiksey,one of the most imposing monasteries belonging to the 15th century, stands on a crag overlooking the flood plain on the east bank of the Indus. The monastery belongs to Elugpa order (Yellow sect) and is a 12- Storey Monastery painted deep red, ochre and white with typical tapering walls. There is a 15m high Buddha figure at the entrance of the new temple. The layout of the monastery complex resembles the Potala palace in Lhasa.

SHEY (15 KMS SOUTH OF LEH)

On the East bank of the Indus river lies the beautiful Shey Monastery. Up to the 16th century it was the royal palace. There is a 17.5 m high blue haired Maitreya Buddha of copper, brass gilded and studded with precious gemstones.

Return to your hotel by the later part of the afternoon. Evening you can walk down to the nearest market on your own or spend some time at leisure.

Morning After Breakfast Drive to Lamayuru/yuru Gompa. Overnight Stay At Diskit.

lamayuru is a Tibetan Buddhist Gompa (monastery) in Kargil District, Western Ladakh, India, Situated On the Srinagar - Kargil - Leh Road 15 Km East of the Fotu La, At a Height of 3,510 M.

the Indian Scholar Mahasiddhacarya Naropa (956-1041 Ce), Allegedly Caused a Lake Which Filled the Valley to Dry Up and Founded Lamayuru Monastery. the Oldest Surviving Building At Lamayuru is a Temple Called Seng-ge-sgang, At the Southern End of the Lamayuru Rock, Which is Attributed to the Famous Builder-monk Rinchen Zangpo (958-1055 Ce). Rinchen Zangpo Was Charged By the King of Ladakh to Build 108 Gompas, and Certainly Many Gompas (monasteries) in Ladakh, Spitiand the Surrounding Regions, Date from His Time.

lamayuru is One of the Largest and Oldest Gompas in Ladakh, with a Population of Around 150 Permanent Monks Resident.it Has, in the Past, Housed Up to 400 Monks, Many of Which are Now Based in Gompas in Surrounding Villages. Lamayuru is Host to Two Annual Masked Dance Festivals, in the Second and Fifth Months of the Tibetan Lunar Calendar, When all the Monks from These Surroundinggompas Gather Together to Pray.

post Lunch Drive Back to Thealchi Village Which is Famous for the Existence of One of the Oldest Monasteries in Ladakh (a National Heritage) Alchi Monastery, Mainly Known for Its Magnificent, and Well-preserved 11th or 12th Century Wall Paintings, all in An Indo-himalayan Style. Alchi is a Small Village with Several Tourist Homestays, Most Offering Modern Conveniences for Overnight Stays, the Best Time to Visit is from June to September.

Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations must be notified in writing on the name of Shikhar Travels India And same is mailed at tours@shikhar.com. Cancellation fees are applied to the following timetable:

Cancellation made prior to 91 days or more, 10% of the money deposited as advance or Rs. 4000/- p. p whichever is higher.

61 - 90 days: 25% of the total invoice

31 - 60 days: 50% of the total invoice

07 -30 days: 75% of the total invoice

01 - 06 days: full retention and will be treated as no show client

In certain cases the cancellation policy (including conditions applicable on the advance deposit made/required for holding the reservation) may differ & would be applicable as per the cancellation policy of that hotel / Service provider. This will be charged over & in addition to the cancellation policy.
