Ladakh, the curtains of valleys and desire of mountains invites you, Oye Riders, to a journey unseen, led by our experts. Let’s embark on a journey to the zig zag snowy roads, as you ride along the dancing waters of Zanskar lake and let its beats overpower you, touching and climbing its sides as it gets deep settled in your memories. Let’s go and crown the terrace of the world, let’s go to the spiritual eye of Buddha, let’s head to the blowing winds, holding your hands amidst the cold whistles. Tu Hi Tu of the riders and the soul of those who ride, it is the place which wags your desire to get swayed in the scenic mirages.
Day 1 : Arrival at Manali
Namskar .! Welcome onboard Rider (Himachal Dev Bhoomi). After the team assists you in checking in, we let you wander around the city if you have the energy left for. We meet once again in the evening to greet and team up with fellow riders on this adventurous journey to the Himalayas. There, we prepare you for expected, and the unexpected – the roadmap, riding etiquette, pitfalls, & heavenly views with cold weather conditions followed a tasty dinner. Now, you are mentally prepared. Go Baba! Have a good night,
Day 2 : Manali Keylong 120 Kms
Don’t let you sleepiness make you late unless you want to stuck in traffic while riding alone on the narrow and serpentine road to Keylong. Ask an experienced rider & you will know, 120 Km trip is not short if it includes hilly roads and Rohtang pass. Even the ‘bum ache’ You will turn speechless by sceneries and breathless physically when you reach Keylong. Fill up courage in your heart and fuel in the tank; you are going to need these a lot.
Day 3 : Keylong to Pang 190 kms
As we leave for the zero fuelling station path, you might want to recheck the fuel level and high- altitude medication. If you are a rider by heart, you will enjoy riding on this ironic patch – toughest yet most beautiful. Please make your mind for this appealing death road as the thought of taking a U-turn might strike any moment. Apart from enjoying the scenery, drive safely through the freezing-cold water crossings and keep an eye on falling mountain rocks.
‘Baam!’ The Himalayas can catch you by surprise at any unexpected moment. Your shoulders and back would be so damn tired, your executive class body wouldn’t mind sleeping at Banjaara style stays – cramped beds in a common tent. You can cook your own food outside with your trembling hands. You better be ready to dance when a fellow rider sings in the evening meet up.
Day 4 : Pang to Leh 180 Kms
Come on Buddy! I know this place is awesome, but what’s coming next is better” says a fellow rider. We start riding away and close towards John Carters’ Mars at the same time. One loses the sense of time riding on the endless road surrounded by Himalayan mountains. Although you wish to take multiple stops for photos, you can’t because you just learned the lesson at Tanglang La & understand the ‘Cold hearted welcome’ at Leh if you reach evening. ‘Yes! I reached’ says your heart by looking at “welcome to Leh’ board.
Day 5 : Leh 100 Kms
‘I can sense Oxygen. I am free to wander around’. On the leisure day, Feed and set free the lone wolf within to explore various parts of the Leh city, like the Namgyal Palace, Tibetan market,
Shanti Stupa, Thikseymonestry, Leh Palace, Shey Palace and numerous monasteries.
Day 6 : Leh to Pangong Lake 180 Kms
The day starts with a mix of excitement and nervousness for riders as well as Bollywood enthusiast. We start riding away from Leh to Chang La pass; the roads do not let feel the bump in the bum for a while. Eventually, it reminds you where you stand. The Paagal Nala and roads remind you of BRO’s witty boards. Do not stop at every other point to take photos, unless you wish to miss the sunset view at Pangong Lake. You may not like where you stay – Camp or small cottage, limited & not so tasty food. But remember, whatever you are getting, it is a privilege transported from Leh market.
So, forget everything; it is time for soul-searching in the beautiful blues.
Day 7 : Pangong Lake to Nubra Valley
Today we are riding on an incredibly moody road with a wide variety of terrains, changing every few kilometres. The road to Nubra will confuse you whether to look on the road or the beautiful view of oasis in the high altitude desert. I hope you never get confused. Who knew crossing a dry river could also be so painful says your touche while crossing Shyok River. What are the perks you get going so far- ride of a smelly double hump camel, bonfire, & music – a perfect way to nourish your
vitals and soul at the Himalayas. Isn’t it?
Day 8 : Nubra to Khardung La 180 Kms
Let’s Go! We are leaving to witness a human-made wonder. A lot has been and is being said about Khardung-La. We also observe a 50 ft tall statue of Maitreyi (Buddha) en route. Even though the roads are broken, muddy, and narrow, there is still a road to the highest motorable road for a civilian.
While you ride for the hilltop, you understand the toil it takes to build and maintain a road at this
altitude; the respect for BRO reaches a new height. Your eyes glitter by looking at BRO’s board of highest motorable road, the feeling is so difficult to express. ‘Mission accomplished’ You along with many other overly enthusiastic riders run for the customary photograph with the board. After the joyous celebration, we drive downhill for Kilometers, feels scary while looking at endless downhill roads. We are back to Leh & oxygen.
Late in the night we had dinner and go to sleep.
Day 9 : Nubra to Khardung La 180 Kms
After breakfast, we meet again to say bid farewell to each other & cheers the
moments of togetherness. Here onwards we leave for our lives and cities.
We will keep in touch. Bye Bye. Julley
