These come with a bed, some furniture and a rear bathroom and hot shower. These budget tented camps are cheap and located next to the park and their quality is good. They also have good food but many do not have a pool.

The wildebeest migration sees more than 2million wildebeests, zebra and gazelles migrate over 3,000km from Ngorongoro to Serengeti and into Masai mara and then back. The animals go through insurmountable huddles to reach their destination in search of fresh green pasture as they follow the rain patterns.
The great wildebeest migration of Masai mara brings in more than half a million visitors to this park every year and it corresponds with the summer season in the west. The migration is the single biggest event of the Masai mara as there is incessant action in this park for 3 months straight with crocodiles eating their fill, lions and leopards having a feast and the millions of wildebeest mowing grass through the savannah as they move north.

The Masai mara balloon rides are offered by 3 or so companies and they get to pick you up from your lodge very early in the morning. The balloon rides are done very early in the worming when the weather is very calm with no winds.
A balloon ride starts at 6:00am in the morning and lasts for an hour of aerial game drive. The pilot prepares the balloon by blowing hot air into the chute and the basket is upright and you can hop in. He will then power it up and the helpers on the ground release the tethering ropes and off you go. The flight is quiet and chilly but you get to see a lot of wildlife as they wake up and start hunting.
On landing, they will have prepared a champagne bush breakfast for you which is very exciting as you sit among the grass with your table set in the mess of the savannah grass.
9. Masai Village Visit
There are Masai people that live in the conservancies around the Masai mara and they have their homesteads (Manyatta) where they keep cattle. The Manyatta is surrounded with a wall of thorn fence around the whole homestead to keep away the wild animals at night. In these villages, the Masai are happy to offer to show you their lifestyles.
A visit to a Masai village will show you’re the Masai people way of life and you can learn such things as traditional archery, how to make fire using 2 sticks only among other things. You will also be able to see the inside of a Masai house, learn how to dance like a Masai warrior and they also perform some traditional songs like a marriage dance etc. It’s very exciting to see how the Masai live among the animals in Masai mara.
10. Night Game Drives
Masai mara is a game reserve and they offer night game drives with specialized red filtered –UV light. It’s exciting to watch the glinting eye of an animal at night. The night game drives are just fun to be out there even when wildlife is not as visible, but to be engulfed by the darkness all around you.
