Shillong’s modern reputation is built on its love for music and there have been many legendary musicians who call this home. There are many faces to Shillong – the quiet neighbourhoods with whistling pine still thrive but there is also a vibrant downtown area. Shillong is also known for its emerging café culture. Attractions here include the pleasant, tree-lined Ward’s Lake and the sprawling Golf Links – a favourite outdoor recreational space for the residents. Shillong has plenty of hotels, guesthouses and homestays spread across the landscape especially in the centrally located Police Bazaar. If you want to chart the colonial history of the place, we would recommend the Shillong Heritage Walk.

The Mawsynram plateau region has received enough attention for its world-record rainfall but there are many more unique sights here. Krem Puri is the longest sandstone cave in the world. Getting to the entry requires a steep descent down one of the valley slopes. The labyrinth has just been recently mapped and visitors need to go in with proper caving gear and with a local guide.

Meghalaya is between October and June. Most tourist destinations in the state receive temperatures that rarely go beyond 30°C, making it a perfect escape between March and June which is the summer season in the country.

Day wise Itinerary

Day 1 : Guwahati Airport / Rly Stn to Shillong - Pick up and transfer to Shillong

Approx Distance: 140 Km • Est. Travel Time: 4 hours
Arrive at Guwahati airport and drive to Shillong (140 km / 4 hrs drive approx).Enroute Visit Umiam Lake. Check-in Hotel and after refreshment if time permits, evening roam the Shillong famous Police Bazar on foot. Overnight in Shillong.

Day 2 : Shillong to Cherrapunjee - Via Mawphlang Sacred Forest

After breakfast, drive to Cherrapunjee and visit Mawplang scared grove After lunch Mawsmai Cave, Mawkdok Dympep Valley View Point,Wei sawdong ,David scott memorial then overnight stay in Cherrapunji hotel.

Day 3 : Cherrapunjee - Full Day Sightseeing

After breakfast visit, and Seven Sisters Falls Nohkalikai Falls. Arwah cave After lunch at Cherrapunjee, visit Thankarang Park, Daintlen falls,Koh Ramhah. Overnight stay at Cherrapunjee.

Day 4 : Cherrapunjee to Dawki - Mawlynnong - Dawki sightseeing and Transfer

Approx Distance: 138 Km • Est. Travel Time: 5 hours
After breakfast check out hotel and drive to Mawlynnong (90 km/3 hrs). Reach Mawlynnong and visit Mawlynnong village (The cleanest village in Asia, Mawlynnong, is a pleasant place where you can visit and unwind. The rains bring out the luscious greens of the trees and forests. The gorgeous green grasses do bring out the beauty of the village.), living root bridge. Note: It is advisable to carry packed lunch to Mawlynnong. After lunch drive to Dawki (35 km/1 ½ hrs) and boating at Umngot river – the crystal clear water river. Later drive back to Shillong (90 km/3 hrs). Check in hotel at Dawki. Overnight at Dawki.

Day 5 : Dawki to Shillong Via Jowai Enroute Sightseeing

Approx Distance: 77 Km
After breakfast go to Jowai .where visit Krang suri water fall ,The walk down to Krangshuri is a pleasant descent – you begin on an open meadow and slowly climb down into more defined shrub and vegetation and Laitlum Canyons. After, a small trek to Phe Phe Falls and witness the beauty of the Phe Phe falls which is not to be missed in the Jantia Hills. Later drive back to Shillong . Check in hotel at Shillong. Overnightat Shillong
