The Indo-Pacific Humpback Dolphin is a member of the genus Sousa. These dolphins are characterized by the conspicuous humps and elongated dorsal fins found on the back of adult members of the species Coco Beach - The Coco beach is situated at the mouth of the Nerul River on the Mandovi Estuary, directly opposite Panaji. There are a number of restaurants here and the 10 or so restaurants are popular in the afternoon, but quiet at night. Further down the estuary there the two small beaches of Quedevelim and the Reis Magos Church and Reis Magos Fort (this impressive Portugese Fort was a prison for some years and is no longer open to the public). Fort Aguada -Standing on the crumbling ramparts of what was once the most formidable and impregnable of the Portuguese forts in India, one looks out at a panoramic ocean vista, witnessing the confluence of the Mandovi River and Arabian Sea, over which the fort has kept watch for more than four hundred years. This is so majestic a sight that it is easy to picture a Portuguese galleon or carrack on the horizon, on the last leg of its arduous voyage from far off Portugal around the Cape of Good Hope, finally able to make safe harbour and replenish its supplies.Chapora Fort - This is yet another popular destination for tourists and is especially a favorite evening haunt for people to chill out. The fort overlooks the Chapora river and hence its name. However, there is a more interesting name given to this fort i.e. ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ Fort. The name literally translates to ‘the heart yearns’ and the reason for this quirky name is that a Bollywood film with this title (Dil Chahta Hai) was shot back here in 2001. When the movie became a blockbuster, a sweeping hit, striking a chord with the young generation, people started indentifying this fort with the name of the movie only.
