Package Overview

Mount Kerinci is the highest volcano in Indonesia and the highest Indonesian peak outside Papua (Irian Jaya), it is surrounded by the lush forest of Kerinci Seblat National Park.



Easier access to Mount Kerinci is from Padang, the capital city of West Sumatra province. It is a 7 - 8 hours road journey from Padang Airport to the nearest accommodation to the Kerinci trail, at Kersik Tua (1,519m). Rainy season in between October to April, while May to September is mainly dry with some occasional rains, the temperature up in the mountain occasionally may drop to 5°C at nights.

THE SUMMIT OF Mt. KERINCI (3,805 m asl)
The highest active volcano in South East Asia, reachable by 12 hours trekking up the mountain from Kersik Tuo (Day 1 starting in the early morning to the last camp (3,100 m asl) in 8 hours; Day 2 continue hike up for 4 hours to the summit - total 12 hours).



Climate

Rainfall is heaviest between October-December and from February-April while May-August is mainly dry but with some occasional rains, there are no major variations in seasonal temperature. Photographers may wish to avoid the period July-August as these dry months are often hazy. Because much of the park is above 700m in altitude, evenings and nights tend to be cool while in the high mountains temperatures may occasionally drop as low as 5C at night and so trekkers should be prepared for cool evenings

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : PADANG - KERSIK TUO

  Upon arrival in Padang by morning flight, you will be pick up by your guide then directly drive driveto Sungai Penuh via Muara Labuh passing Lake Diatas and Lake Dibawah, several Minangkabau villages and tea plantation at Kayu Aro. Upon arrival at Sei Penuh, the area of Kerinci Seblat National Park,check-in to local home stay and dinner. It will take around 7 to 8 hours drive from Padang to Kresik Tuo, lunch en route at the local restaurant.
• Day 2 : MOUNT KERINCI NATIONAL PARK’S GATE - SHELTER III (Campsite)

  Early breakfast at guest house then you will be transfer by local transport to gate of Mt. Kerinci Seblat National Park. After obtain the permit, start your 7-8 hours trekking up to Shelter III, the campsite for overnight. Lunch en route and dinner provided by our guide team.
• Day 3 : SHELTER III - SUMMIT(3.805 asl) - KRESIK TUO VILLAGE

  Wake up at 03:00 am, then we will start trekking to the summit of Mount Kerinci (3.805 asl), when you are on the summit, you will be in the highest point on Sumatra. After take some photos and enjoying the beautiful scenery we will trek back to shelter III. After breakfast, trekking down back to Kersik Tuo for about 5 hours. In the afternoon we will reach Kresik Tuo Village, check in to local home stay, and have some rest.
• Day 4 : KRESIK TUO - PADANG - OUT

  At the appropriate time, transfer back to Padang airport to catch your flight to your next destination. : -
