Package Overview

The Dooars or Duars are flood plains and the foothills of the eastern Himalayas that stretch across West Bengal and Assam, two states in East and North-East India, around Bhutan. Duar means door in both the Assamese and Bengali languages and they form the gateway to Bhutan. Situated at an altitude of 90 metre to 1750 metre, the haunting beauty of the region, with its mountain streams, tea gardens and forests, is an experience of a lifetime. The Gorumara National Park, comprising 80 km of diverse forests, is famous for its natural population of the Great Indian one-horned Rhinoceros. Earlier a wildlife sanctuary, it was converted into a National Park in the year 1992 to protect its rare Flora and Fauna.
Besides the one horned rhinoceros, other major fauna of the park includes Indian Elephant, Indian Bison, Leopard, and different species of Deer, Turtles, Pythons, and Monkeys along with more than 200 species of birds. The forest department has recently built several watch towers inside and along the edges of the forests that offer a unique opportunity to observe wildlife in its natural habitat.

Park Ethics :

• Obtain Entry Permit Before Entering the National Park.
• Keep Silence. Watch and observe nature in all its glory and let it speak for you. Please do not shout, play music or blow horns while in the National Park.
• Park your Vehicles at the Parking Area.
• Prefer Khaki, Olive Green or Dark Colour Clothing and avoid bright colour clothes.
• Keep Fire Away. This is the most destructive of all forces. Please do not kindle Fires, Throw Lighted Matches, Cigarettes, Bidis, etc.
• Keep the Forest Clean. Do not litter with Plastic, Paper, Cellophane, etc.
• Keep Pets at Home.
• Do not Carry Firearms, Explosive, etc. These are prohibited as per law.
• Keep Sober. Do not consume Alcoholic Drinks within the National Park.
• Entering inside the forest prohibited. Follow the Specific Road/Path only.
• Picnics are not permitted inside the National Park.
• Don�t tease the Wild Animals. Watch and observe nature silently.
• Drive Slowly. (Permissible speed is 20 km/hr.)
• Driving inside the National Park after sunset & before sunrise is strictly prohibited.
• Disorderly conduct is not permitted.
• No person shall Hunt, Destroy, Remove or Collect any forest produce or wildlife. Fishing prohibited.
• Visitors should enter the National Park at their own risk.

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Garumara

  Arival at NJP Railway Stations or Bagdogra Airport. Transfer to Resort in Forest. Night stay at Resort.
• Day 2 : Garumara National Park

  Morning visit to Garumara National Park. Come back to resort. Evening visit to Chapramari sanctuary. Night stay at Resort.
• Day 3 : Jaldapara National Park

  Full Day visit to Jaldapara National Park. Come back to resort in the evening. Evening free for camp fire and cultural program. Night stay at Resort.
• Day 4 : Neora Valley

  Full day visit to Neora Valley. Evening return to resort. Night stay at Resort.
