NAGZIRA is amongst the few national parks, where you got to stay in the arms of nature and adorned with a picturesque landscape and luxuriant vegetation. The forest rest house is situated besides a scenic lake and you can indulge in the magnificence presence of animals and birds.
Nagzira is located in Gondia District - Vidharbha region and was declared as a wildlife sanctuary in 1971. Nagzira has spread over into an area of 152.81-sqkm, this includes a small lake within its boundary and is main source of water to wildlife throughout the year.It is an important conservation unit in Central India in general and Vidarbha in particular. It acts a “Green-lung” for the adjoining human settlements and helps in maintaining the environmental balance.
Wildlife
Nagzira sanctuary has 34 species of mammals, 36 species of reptiles and four species of amphibians. Wild animals to spot are the tiger, panther, bison, sambar, nilgai, chital, wild boar, sloth bear and wild dog.
More than 166 species of Birds are spotted in Nagzira Scantuary. Also as many as 15 species of migratory birds and about 42 species of local migrants are reported.25-0430-06
