Laos is a beautiful country that is rich culture, history, and natural beauty. Climb on board and join AAT on this once in a lifetime trip that will take you from the North to the South of Laos. Starting in the World Heritage town, Luang Prabang and travelling down south to Paske, making several stops along the way to experience all of the places in between. From exploring ancient temples, to floating along the Mekong river, to exploring the famous 4000 islands in the south, this tour will give guests a wonderful insight into the gorgeous country of Laos.

Day 1 : Luang Prabang Activities: Wat Xieng Thong and Wat Mai - Mount Phousi
This morning guests will arrive at the airport where they will be met by their tour guide and transferred to their hotel. Shortly after, guests will be taken to the world famous temples, Wat Xieng Thong and Wat Mai, two of the most sacred and beautiful temples in the country. In the afternoon, guests will put on their hiking shoes to trek up the 328 steps to the top of Mount Phousi where they will watch the sunset over the city and the surrounding rivers. Afterwards, guests will be taken back to the city center to explore the Night Market.

Day 2 : Luang Prabang Activities: Mekong River Cruise - Local Village Visits - Pak Ou Caves
On the second day of the tour, guests will hop in a boat to enjoy a cruise along the beautiful Mekong River. Along the way, the boat will stop in the local villages of Muang Kham and Ban Xang Hai where guests will be able to learn about the making of traditional Laotian rice whiskey. Guests will journey on to visit the famou Pak Ou caves before returning to Luang Prabang where they will spend the night.

Day 3 : Luang Prabang Activities: Choose Between Three Different Tours
Today guests will choose between three different excursions. The first option is to visit a weaving village, followed by a visit to the Elephant Park Project and a visit to the Nam Khan River and the Tad Sae waterfall. Guests will also catch a glimpse into the lifestyle of the people that live in the countryside of Laos. The second option is a full day bicycle tour around Luang Prabang. The third option is a full day trek (varying levels of difficulty) to visit the ethnic villages around Luang Prabang.

Day 4 : Luang Prabang | Kuang Si Waterfall Activities: Visit the Royal Palace Museum - Visit Hmong and Khm
After breakfast on the fourth day, guests will visit Haw Kham, the Royal Palace Museum before traveling to Kuang Si waterfalls. On the way to the falls, the tour will visit Hmong and Khmu villages, giving guests a glimpse into the different lifestyles of these local tribes. Upon arrival at the waterfalls, guests will have time to relax and enjoy the cool and refreshing pools of water before returning to Luang Prabang for the evening.

Day 5 : Luang Prabang | Vang Vieng Activities: Travel to Vang Vieng - Karst Mountain - Visit Surrounding
Today guests will leave the beauty of Luang Prabang and travel to the backpacker haven of Vang Vieng. On the way to Vang Vieng, guests will pass through some of the beautiful natural scenery that Laos has to offer. On arrival, guests will enjoy a walk on the karst mountain and visit some of the surrounding caves, coming back to Vang Vieng to experience the thriving nightlife or to just relax at the hotel and get an early night’s sleep.

Day 6 : Vang Vieng | Vientiane Activities: Explore Famous Sites in Vientiane
After breakfast on the sixth day, guests will be transferred to to Vientiane, the capital of Laos. In Vientiane, guests will explore the touristic sites in the city: Wat Si Saket, Wat Prakeo, and Pha That Luang. The first two are sacred temples and the third is a gold-covered Buddhist stupa. Guests will want to stop and take pictures of the Patuxai Monument which serves at Vientiane’s version of the French Arc de Triomphe.

Day 7 : Vientiane | Paske | Tad Lo Activities: Travel to Paske - Bolaven Plateau - Lao Theung Villages
After breakfast, guests will fly to Paske where they will be transferred to the Bolaven Plateau where they will find coffee and tea plantations galore! Guests will also visit some Lao Theung villages.

Day 8 : Tad Lo | Champassak | Don Khong Activities: Ferry Across the Mekong - Wat Phu - Ferry to Don Kho
This morning guests will say goodbye to Tad Lo and travel back to Paske to take a ferry along the Mekong River to Champassak. In Champassak, guests will visit the temple of Wat Phu and in the afternoon guests will take a drive through the beautiful scenery and later, take a ferry to Don Khong. Don Khong is one of the largest inhabited islands in the Si Pan Don area. The rest of the day will be spent on a bike tour that explores the rest of the island.

Day 9 : The 4000 Islands Activities: Explore 4000 Islands - Visit Khone Phapheng and Li Phi Waterfalls
On the second to last day of our tour, guests will have the chance to see the 4000 islands in Si Pan Don. The area is one of the wider sections of the Mekong River and can grow up to 12 km across during the rainy season. Guests will also have the opportunity to visit the Khone Phapheng and Li Phi waterfalls, hopefully they will be able to catch sight of some of the endangered Irrawaddy dolphins that live in these fresh waters. Afterwards, guests will have the chance to explore the French railway and colonial bridge before returning to Don Khong for the evening.

Day 10 : Don Khong | Paske Activities: Departure
After breakfast on the final day, guests will say their goodbyes and travel to the Paske airport where they will continue to their next destination.

Day 11 : Nong Khiaw | Luang Prabang Activities: Travel to Luang Prabang
As our wonderful tour draws to a close, guests will travel back along the Nam Ou River to Luang Prabang. Along the way, there will be one last stop in the village of Ban Na Nyang where guests will learn about traditional cotton weaving in Lao. Upon arrival in Luang Prabang, guests will say their goodbyes and be dropped off at the airport or at their hotel. Our tour may be over, but the memories will last a lifetime!
