This journey aims to show you the most beautiful road trip in north Vietnam, a journey from Yen Bai to Lao Cai. It covers the least-visited yet most stunning destinations of the region, including Nghia Lo, Tu Le and Mu Cang Chai. You will enjoy a scenic hike to admire the picturesque settings of terraced rice fields in Nghia Lo, Tu Le and Sapa. These imposing fields draw a number of Vietnamese youth who love to take pictures and travel with a sense of adventure. Amidst this magnificent landscape, you will meet ethnic minority people in their colorful costumes and you will be touched by their smiles for sure.

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : HANOI - YEN BAI - NGHIA LO

  Heading out of the bustling streets of Hanoi give way to verdant rice paddies and farmland along Hwy 32. By early afternoon you'll be moving away from the Red River Delta and into the mountains of Yen Bai province, on your way to your destination of Nghia Lo. Nghia Lo is situated along a beautiful mountain ridge separating the Red and Black river. With lush forests, tea plantations, rice terraces and gum trees, the picturesque valleys are stunning. The area is home to Thai, Nung, H'mong, La Ha and Ma ethnic minority peoples. O/N in hotel

• Day 2 : NGHIA LO - TU LE

  After breakfast, we drive on the road follows the mountains of Hoang Lien Son and winds through the rice terrace. Stop for starting our hike, enjoy the beautiful scenery and stop shooting on the way before reach the village of the Thai and H'mong ethnic minorities. People here are dressed in traditional costumes and welcome us with open arms. The local here still retain their traditional life-style and customs and habits so that’s is a good chance for someone who aim to study about the culture. Night at the local house.

• Day 3 : TU LE - MU CANG CHAI

  Continue drive along the mountainous road with spectacular scenery along the way. Stop at Nga Ba Kim for a short break after hours on car. Start trekking until we reach the village of Thai and H’mong ethnic minorities. Stunning landscapes of terraced rice fields,mountains, clouds and wooden stilt houses, all like in a heaven of peace and simple happiness. Be warmly welcome by locals in their traditional costumes,see the H’mong women sitting by their loom and say hello to children past, you will truly get connected to the land and the people here. Night and dinner in homestay in Mu Cang Chai.
  Note: 1 hour drive & around 5 hrs easy trekking

• Day 4 : MU CANG CHAI - SAPA - TA VAN VILLAGE

  After 2 hours driving,the road begins to climb up Tram Ton Pass, the highest pass of Vietnam (2047m).Stop for photos hunting and enjoying the fresh atmosphere. From here, you can also see the Fanxipan Mountain - “the roof of Indochina” (3143m) soaked in clouds. Arrive in Sapa at noon, visit colorful ethnic market and Sapa old town with some vestige of French colonial era. After lunch, we take a light trek to visit Lao Chai and Ta Van village where the H’mong,Dao and Dzay ethnic people live peacefully together, By afternoon, drive back to Sapa Town. O/N in hotel in Sapa.
  Note: 3 hours driving, 2hrs of easy trekking

• Day 5 : SAPA - CAT CAT VILLAGE - HANOI

  In the morning, start trekking downhill to Cat Cat village inhabited by Black H’mong ethnic group. Finish trekking, our car will pick up and take us to Lao Cai station.En route, visit Ma Tra village home to Black H’Mong & Red Dzao tribe. Overnight in the 4 soft- berths cabin night train to Hanoi.

  Arrive Hanoi in the early morning. Transfer to the hotel. End of our services.
