Theth & Shkodra
This tour is for people who are active and who like to get to know the culture of the people in the North of Albania. In this tour you will have through the mountains and surroundings of Thethi and sleep and eat with a local family in one of the old villages houses. We will also visit Shkodra and walk around the ruins of the Rozafa castle with an amazing view all around the lake of Shkodra, the city of Shkodra and the countryside.
Shkodra, Koman Lake & Valbona
This tour is for people who are active and who like to get to know the culture of the people in the North of Albania. During this trip we will travel to Shkodra with a walk around the ruins of the Rozafa castle with its amazing views, we will also take the ferry boat on the Koman Lake where you can enjoy breath-taking views of the scenery of the dramatic mountains and the green hills and we will also visit Valbona, one of the most wonderful natural beauties of Albania where we will have some hikes through the mountains and surroundings.
Day 1 : Tirana – Shkodra
On this day you will be picked up from your hotel or from the airport to take you to the northern city of Shkodra (if you want we can make a stop at the city of Kruja to visit the castle and the bazaar) situated on the lake of Shkodra where you will visit the Rozafa castle with an amazing view all around the lake of Shkodra, the city of Shkodra and the countryside. Afterwards you can visit the Mesi Bridge, an old bridge built in the mid-18th century with beautiful mountains on the background and afterwards you can have a stroll along the promenade of Shkodra. Overnight in Shkodra.
Day 2 : Shkodra – Koman Ferry – Valbona
After an early breakfast you will depart to Koman, where you will take the ferry over the beautiful lake of Koman with breath-taking views of the scenery of the dramatic mountains and the green hills. When you arrive in Fierze you will be taken to Valbona, one of the most wonderful natural beauties of Albania where you will have some hikes through the mountains and surroundings. Overnight in a local guesthouse.
Day 3 : Valbona – Theth
Today you will walk for about 6-8 hours from Valbona to Theth. This hike will take you through forests and alpine pastures and as you pass the Valbona River you can visit some beautiful waterfalls and the village of Rragam. After this you will reach the Valbona Pass (1950m) where you can enjoy the spectular views down to the Valbona and Theth Valley. This whole area of Albania is a special place where you can explore forests, rivers, alpine lakes, miscellaneous flowers, characteristic houses and the unique hospitability of its inhabitants. During communism, only members of the government, locals and authorized forest technicians and a handful of important visitors from foreign countries with which Albania had political relations – such as Russia, Bulgaria, Poland - were allowed to enter this region. Overnight in a local guesthouse.
Day 4 : Theth
On this day you will have the opportunity to hike around the village of Theth and explore the mountains, the waterfall, the church of Theth, The tower of isolation (including a story about the “Kanun”) on yourself or with your guide. Overnight in a local guesthouse.
Day 5 : Theth – Shkodra
After breakfast there will be some time to walk around the village of Theth before we drive back by 4x4 to Shkodra. This is an adventure on its own because of the bad road conditions and the wonderful views along the road. This is only a 70km drive, but it will take around 3 hours to arrive in Shkodra. Overnight in Shkodra.
