Package Overview

The Sultanate of Oman has the most dramatic sections of the Al Hajar mountains which run the length of Oman’s northern coastline, rising above the blue waters of the Gulf to a height of 3000 metres. Starting out amongst the Western Hajar Mountains, we follow rugged trails between picturesque mountain villages, each with its groves of date palms and intricately terraced fields.We visit the high point of Oman at Jabal Shams and enjoy far-reaching views across a landscape of jagged ridge-lines and intervening canyons. A night in a comfortable hotel at the former capital of Nizwa, with time to explore the town’s forts and market Our well- paced desert exploration crosses unbroken dunes, some of them up to 100m high. When the sun is high we stop to enjoy the tranquillity of the desert environment beforefollowing ancient trading routes to our desert camps and enjoy hot sweet tea the Omani way before we complete – which ends conveniently at a camp on the beach.

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Arrive in Muscat

  Arrive in Muscat at the hotel in Muscat. Package services begin with the transfer to the hotel. This transfer is normally evening and a representative of our local guide will accompany the group on the short journey to the hotel. If you are arriving before this time, please note there will be a meeting point in the hotel .
• Day 2 : MUSCAT City Tour - Hotel

  At 8:00Am ,you will be picked up from the hotel and taken by our guide for a tour of the Grand Mosque. (Women must wear head scarf which covers the hairline and neck and a long sleeve top and trousers which covers the ankles. Men also must dress respectfully wearing long trousers and top). After the mosque our guide will take us to the Sultan’s Palace after which we will walk to Bait al Zubair museum then onto Kalbou Park for a picnic lunch,Tthen we walk along the corniche back to the hotel around 3:00pm and have some time to relax before dinner at the hotel.
• Day 3 : Muscat - to - Jebal Shams

  At 08:00 AM we start our adventure leaving Muscat and heading to Nakhal where we will make a stop to view the
  fort. We continue off road through Wadi Bani Auf driving we park near the terraces and make a 30 minute walk through the georgette and into the beautiful green mountain village Bilad Sait. After picnic lunch continue our drive over the mountain and up to Jebal Shams for a night camping at 2000m.

• Day 4 : Jebal Shams - Jebal Akhdar

  This morning, after breakfast we will set off on the 4 hour ‘Balcony walk’ which leads us on an old donkey path around the rim of Oman’s Grand Canyon and to the abandoned village Sap Bani Khamis. The return journey back to the cars is along the same path and more stunning views over the canyon and the villages below.

• Day 5 : Jebal Akhdar

  After breakfast we break camp and start our 4hour track across Oman’s beautiful ‘green mountain’ Jabal Akhdar. The walk starts from Jarira to the abandon village of Bani Habib, where we will take lunch under the shade of walnut trees, after lunch we will meet the 4WD take an hour’s walk through the terracing and farms on the side of the mountain finish walk terracing we return back to camp.

• Day 6 : Jebal Akhdar - to - Nizwa

  This morning we walk to the edge of the mountain down through an abandoned village then through a cleft in the
  mountain to a small village where are cars will be waiting to take us down to the old town of Nizwa, the old capital of
  Oman. Check into our hotel, Dinner in restaurant.

• Day 7 : Nizwa City Tour - Desert

  After breakfast visit Old town Nizwa and fort and the souq lunch in restaurant then drive to dunes (3hours) have a little Nap Mat a Bedouin family have Omani date’s coffee and ride a camel. Dinner: with Bedouin.
• Day 8 : Department Desert - to Turtle Beach Resort

  This early morning we walk in the dunes (2hours) after drive to Wadi bani Khalid have a picnic lunch then depart to Ras al Jinz for a night stay turtle beach Resort. After dinner at around 9:00pm we will depart to see turtles laying their eggs on the beach (NO Photo’s).we finishes around 11:00pm.drive back to Resort.

• Day 9 : Turtle Beach Resort - to - White Beach

  At 8:00 departing to Sur stops to view the dhow making yards and explore the fish souk. We then continue to wadi Shab enjoy (45 minutes’ walk) and some swimming back the same way to the Parking .Then drive to camp at White beach.

• Day 10 : White beach - to - Muscat

  Enjoy sun rise from the Arabian see relax and swimming before we start broken our camp to be ready back to Muscat check into our hotel. We will eat the Dinner in restaurant.
