Arrival and Introduction to Mkomazi National Park
Drive from Moshi/Arusha (approx. 3-4 hours) or fly into Same Airstrip, near the park.
Arrival at the park, check in to your lodge or tented camp.
After lunch, enjoy a relaxing afternoon game drive to get a first glimpse of the park’s wildlife. Look for elephants, giraffes, zebras, and gazelles, while enjoying the stunning views of the Pare and Usambara Mountains in the background.
Game drive. Explore the eastern part of the park, focusing on the Mkomazi Rhino Sanctuary. The sanctuary is home to endangered black rhinos, and this is a rare opportunity to see them in their natural habitat.
Keep an eye out for predators like lions and cheetahs, which roam this area.
Birdwatchers will love the parks over 450 bird species, including the cobalt-chested vulturine guinea fowl.
Return to camp for dinner and overnight stay.
Mikumi National Park
Early breakfast and check-out. Depart for Mikumi National Park (about a 5-6 hour drive).
Arrive at your lodge in Mikumi for lunch (suggested lodges: Vuma Hills Tented Camp or Stanley’s Kopje).
After lunch, head out for an afternoon game drive in Mikumi.
Explore the Mkata floodplain, often compared to the Serengeti for its open savannas. Spot lions, zebras, wildebeest, elephants, and over 400 species of birds.
