Package Overview

Paro Tshechu is an annually held Bhutanese religious festival which occurs on the tenth day of the Tibetan month and is the biggest of the Tsechus in the country.  In this auspicious moment, the large social gatherings takes place together where most of the tourist as well as the local people witness the event, dressed in their best attires, bringing the delicious Bhutanese dishes such as churra, a puffed rice dish, to the Dzong and watch masked dancers thereby making a great remarkable time .A various series of programs such as dances, called cham, are performed for the festival. The dances are performed by monks playing the roles of deities, heroes, and animals dressed in excellent colored silks and brocades. They also wear carved wooden masks symbolizing the figure they perform. The dances are accompanied by the music of drums, bells, gongs, conch-shell trumpets, and horns. Other activities include folk dancing, singing and entertaining performances by clowns called atsaras. It’s believed as a great source of an entertainment. Time of Festival: 27th to 31st March

• Day 1 : Paro - Thimphu | Area altitude: 2,320m | Travelling distance: 50kms | Time taken: 1hr 15mins

  Representative from Bhutan Mystical Tours at the airport and drive to Thimphu (Capital).
  Visit Tashichho Dzong.
  Ascend towards Kuensel Phodrang view point (Also known as Buddha View point).
  Visit Handicrafts Emporium to see the traditional crafts and textiles.
  Overnight in Hotel.
• Day 2 : Thimphu Sightseeing | Area altitude: 2,320m

  Visit to the National Memorial Chorten, built in 1974 in honor of our late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk.
  Visit National Library.
  Visit Painting School.
  Visit Folk Heritage Museum.
  Visit Tashichho Dzong.
• Day 3 : Thimphu - Punakha | Area altitude: 1,310m | Travelling distance: 72kms | Time taken: 3hrs

  Drive to Punakha via Dochula pass.
  Visit Chimi Lhakhang also called the "Temple of Fertility" built by Lama Drukpa Kuenley.
  Visit Punakha Dzong built in 1637 by Zhabdrung Namgay Namgyal.
  Excursion to Khamsung Yulley Namgyal Choling Monastery.
• Day 4 : Punakha - Gangtey | Area altitude: 3,120m | Travelling distance: 80kms | Time taken: 3hrs

  Visit Wangdi Phodrang Dzong (from outside) built in 1638.
  While in Gangtey, Visit Gangtey Gompa built in 1613.
  Explore Phobjikha valley, famous for the Blacked Necked Cranes during winter.
• Day 5 : Gangtey - Thimphu | Area altitude: 2,320m | Travelling distance: 142kms | Time taken: 3hrs

  Drive to Thimphu.
  Visit the Takin Preserve center.
  Visit Sangay gang view point.
• Day 6 : Thimphu - Paro | Area altitude: 2,280m | Travelling distance: 58kms | Time taken: 1hr

  After the breakfast drive to the ruins of the Drukgyal Dzong (16kms. Built in 1647 by the great Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal).
  Experience an unforgettable view of Mt. Jhomolhari (7,314 m).
  Visit Kichu Lhakhang built in 659 A.D by the Tibetan King Srongsen Gampo
• Day 7 : Paro Sightseeing | Area altitude: 2,280m

  After the breakfast, excursion to Takshang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest)
  Visit Ta Dzong (built in 1656 and renovated in 1968) an ancient watch tower.
  Visit the Rimpong Dzong.
  Stroll in the town for shopping.
• Day 8 : Paro Festival | Area altitude: 2,280m

  Witness the festival.
• Day 9 : Paro Festival | Area altitude: 2,280m

  Witness the festival.

  Early morning, drive to the airport and farewell.
