The Adventures Beyond 9 Day Perth to Adelaide Wildlife Adventure is a once in a life time trip. Cross the Nullarbor plain and experience some of the worlds best wildlife encounters including diving with Great White sharks (own expense) Swimming with Sea Lions, Swimming with Bluefin Tuna (own expense) and more.
Head across the Great Australian Bight from West Australia to South Australia, visit the Southern Flinders Ranges, Flinders Ranges, Eyre Peninsula, Esperance, Cape Le Grand, Albany, Denmark, Margaret River, Busselton and beyond.
This trip is a highlight on any Australian holiday so if you are thinking of travelling between Perth and Adelaide - do not fly over all the fun, jump on board our 9 day wildlife adventure tour between Perth and Adelaide.
Day 1 : Wave Rock, Fitzgerald National Park and More
Departing Perth at around 7am we head east and start our adventure travelling over the Darling Ranges. We stop for a morning break at the historic township of York and then start to head south toward the coast. We have lunch at Wave Rock where you also have to opportunity to explore this amazing rock formation. After lunch we head further south to our camp near the Fitzgerald River National Park, an internationally recognised world biosphere reserve. There are plenty of beaches and rugged coastline to enjoy. We camp near the National Park at our bush camp.
Day 2 : Esperance, Cape Le Grande and Beyond
Day 2 drive along the coast to Esperance, where you have time to explore the town. There are beautiful granite surrounds with bushland and beach and it is spectacular. This area of Western Australia has 9 National Parks which is a testament to its beauty. We explore the "best" one - Cape Le Grande National Park where you can see amazing white beaches, turquoise bays and bushland. You may even be lucky enough to see a Kangaroo on the beach like the picture to the left! We hike up Frenchmans peak for stunning views of the coast and islands before camping under the stars in the park.
Day 3 : Cape Le Grande, Caiguna Blow Hole and More
Today we head back through Esperance and head North to the Eyre Highway. We start our East bound journey for a big drive accross the Nullarbor Plain taking time to explore the Caiguna Blow Hole on the way. We camp at a remote bush camp with no facilities and the highlight is the campfire and looking at the night sky and the stars. This is one of the most amazing night sky views anywhere on the planet and an experience you will never forget.
Day 4 : The Nullarbor, Wildlife and Bunda Cliffs
Day 4 we head further east across the Nullarbor Plain. Driving the Great Australian Bight we are heading some of the most remote country on earth. We head into Eucla where the reality of the Nullarbor really hits you and we explore the desert sands. We stay the night at Koonalda Homestead, one of the original settlers homesteads which was once used for a service station on the old Eyre Highyway. We enjoy another amazing night under the stars around the campfire.
Day 5 : Eyre Peninsula, Bunda Cliffs and More
Day 5 head further across the Nullarbor where in the months of June to September we get to see the Southern Wright Whales at Head of the Bight. We admire the Bunda cliffs where Australia makes its dramatic end into the ocean. We stop at the famous Wombat, Camel, Kangaroo sign which is perfect for photos and then travel into a remote Aboriginal community. We drive across the dingo fence, and in the afternoon we soak in the history at the Ceduna Arts and Cultural centre where we learn about Aboriginal art. We stop in at Streak Bay for supplies, then check out Murphy's Haystacks, a remarkable granite rock formation. In the evening we arrive at Coodlie Park wilderness retreat, a working farm where we spend the night with our mates Jo and Hassie on their property.
Day 6 : Learn to Surf, Swim with Seal Lions and More
Today we start with a surf lesson at Sceales Bay with all the equipment provided. An amazing beach with picturesque water. We head to Bairds Bay where you have the opportunity to swim with dolphins and sea lions which is a 4 hour boat cruise and amazing experience ($140 pay on board). To finish off our day of adventure we go sand boarding onthe biggest sand dunes you have ever seen and head back to Coodlie Park for another night around the camp fire.
Day 7 : Mikkira Station, Swim with Tuna and More
Day 7 we head to the Colton Bakery which is a unique wood fired bakery on the side of the highway. We then travel to Pt Lincoln for lunch and for those that want to we have the unique experience of Swimming with the Bluefin Tuna (own expense). This is an amazing experience and you are swimming and hand feeding the tuna in a large ring in the ocean. If you don't want to swim then you have 3 hours to explore the town of Pt Lincoln. In the evening we camp at Mikkira Station at our private campground. There are koalas in nearly ever tree. We have time to walk around the property and see Giant Yakkas. We camp on the station with limited facilities.
Day 8 : Great White Sharks, Whalers Bay and More
Our second to last day is a day of adrenalin for those that are game! If you choose to go Diving with the Great White Sharks then it is a 5:15am rise for you so you can spend the day on the boat and come face to face with these predators of the ocean. The optional experience is $495 which includes video highlights of your experience. For those happy to stay on land and explore, we have to Whalers Way Conservation Park for amazing coastlines. If lucky we will see kangaroos and emus in this flora and fauna reserve. We have time for a swim and walk in the Lincoln National Park, on to visit a wildlife park to see wildlife close up. Tonight we camp at Port Neill with all the ammenities.
Day 9 : Flinders Ranges, Mt Remarkable and Adelaide
Our final day of adventure starts with a drive through Whyalla and into Port Augusta. We head into the Wadlata Cultural Centre which helps answer many of the answers about the formation of the Nullarbor, the Flinders Ranges and Australia as a continent. From Pt Augusta we follow the Southern FLinders Ranges to Mt Remarkable National Park to have lunch and enjoy our final bushwalk. After lunch we hit the road travelling south to head for our final destination, Adelaide. The end of a great road journey is normally shared with dinner and drinks in town.
