Phou Khao Khuay, or ‘Buffalo Horn Mountain', is an intriguing nature reserve in Laos. The mountains, rivers and pristine forests here offer great chance to explore the wildlife and several outdoor activities like trekking, canoeing, picnicking and camping. Its proximity to Vientiane makes it ideal for day trip from the capital city. This program gives you unique experience of rural life, trekking in the nature reserve, swimming and relaxing at stunning waterfalls.

FULL ITINERARY

Morning, you will be transferred from Vientiane to Ban Hatkhai, where a long-tail boat takes us up stream on the Nam Mang and along one of its tributaries, Houay Xai. Take 2 hours trekking through an evergreen canopy as we gain height. A picnic lunch is served on the way.

Afternoon, you will see the magnificent pair of waterfalls Tad Xay and Pha Xay, which are particularly beautiful during and after the rainy season. You have some free time at Tad Xay which has a pool recommended for bathing or just relax if you want.

Approximately: 2.5 hour transfers, 1-hour boating & 2-hour trekking.
