Real Local showing you our favourite places. This Day Tour to Piha Beach travels from Auckland City to Avondale to view the biggest spider in New Zealand and here we can try the very special golden kiwi fruit.
We take a walk though the local market, one of the biggest in Auckland City. (Note Sunday Only) The Avondale markets see the local produce try free samples of fruit yummy apples learn about our local food. After our stop in Avondale we travel through to the little Titirangi town and into the picturesque scenic route around the Waitakere Ranges.
A stop at its scenic lookout Arataki Visitor Information Centre, with spectacular views of the Manukau harbour and the lovely Waitemata harbour. Learn about and see some of our local wildlife plus take awesome pictures from here. See the start of the Hillary Trail.
Next stop is the Tasman Sea and Piha Beach on the wild west coast – known around the world for its great surfing, volcanic cliff faces and the black sand. We show you the real local spots around the beach and sea including a bush cave, blow holes and much more.
Time for a “Kiwi” lunch break (not included) at the Piha beach store before our walk into the beautiful native Waitakere Ranges rainforest, following a natural stream to the crystal clear KiteKite Falls, seeing stunning large Kauri trees, silver ferns and much more.
Swim in the refreshing waterfall so bring your swimming gear.
Next if we have time we travel to view Karekare Beach for the clean fresh air, wild open beach and one more waterfall.
We return to your place of stay, in Auckland City invigorated after a memorable day tour.
Good walking shoes are recommended and a general level of fitness is required. The youngest person to do this tour was six years old, and the oldest was over 70!
