The Pindari Glacier is a glacier found in the upper reaches of the Kumaon Himalayas, to the southeast of Nanda Devi and Nanda Kot. The glacier is about three kilometers long and 365 meters wide and gives rise to the Pindar River which meets the Alakananda at Karnaprayag in the Garhwal district.
The trail to reach the glacier crosses the villages of Saung, Loharkhet, crosses over the Dhakuri Pass, continues onto Khati village (the last inhabited village on the trail), Dwali, Phurkia and finally Zero Point, Pindar, the end of the trail. Though most of the trail is along the banks of the Pindari River, the river is mostly hidden until after Khati.
Trip Highlights- This is one of the most popular trekking areas in Kumaon hills. The trail through out is broad and well marked. The trail from Loharkhet crosses the gentle Dhakuri Khal (pass) to enter the Pindari River basin. Descending into the valley, the trail gradually rises to the Pindari as well as Kafni glacier. The final viewpoint, called Zero Point’, gives a wonderful view of the Pindari Glacier icefall and the more beautiful Kafni Glacier. You may also come across a lot of wildlife on this trek. Altitude: 3820m/12250 ft

This route offers various ascends and descends so it is important that you watch your step as some of the areas are slippery.

The view looks beautiful as you walk along the grassland. There are some meadows covered with rhododendron forests stretching across which look scenic all the way through.
Today there will be the final two stream crossings which are layers of hard snow. You will find hard snow in the month of April and May when you may require the help of an ice axe, microspikes and crampons.
