Uganda is a land of contrasts. The massive yet silent elephant disappears like a vapor behind the trees while the chimpanzees crash about the forest canopy. Meanwhile, the proud gorilla chews thoughtfully in the bamboo thicket. Not far from here is the Nile, twisting its way north like a shimmering ribbon through arid semi desert scattered about with rocky kopjes. Snowcapped peaks, tropical and freshwater beaches and smiling faces are everywhere.International flights

Day 1 : Queen Elizabeth National Park
Upon your arrival at the airport you will be warmly welcomed by a Abana Safaris representative and then be transferred to Queen Elizabeth National Park. As you journey through the Ankole savannah and take in this vast farm land, the attractive acacia-dotted expanse will grip your heart with its beauty. You will stop for lunch en-route and then make your way into the park, which is one of Uganda’s most outstanding treasures.

Day 2 : Queen Elizabeth National Park
Today you will visit the fascinating Katwe Salt Lake to learn about traditional salt mining. Katwe is located in the southwestern part of Uganda (within the Kasese district) and is bordered by Queen Elizabeth National Park. This area is dominated by remarkable geographical features, including unbreakable volcanic rocks, explosive crater lakes and a rift valley. Visiting Lake Katwe offers you the opportunity to learn about the skill of salt water mining as well as a chance to directly interact with local salt miners.
After lunch, you will embark on an afternoon launch cruise along the Kazinga channel. The Kazinga is a wide, 32-kilometre (20 mile) long natural channel connecting two lakes: Lake George (which is to the east) and Lake Edward (which is to the west). This place is home to a variety of water birds and, on a hot day, hippos, elephants, buffaloes and waterbucks can be sighted as they bathe and drink water along the shore.

Day 3 : Queen Elizabeth National Park
Experience the wilderness of Uganda in a new, unique way: a hot air balloon ride! You will wake up early to catch the sunrise as you silently fly over the plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park in your balloon. Admire the herds of buffaloes and elephants and enjoy the serene tranquility of the African bush during your one hour journey. You will float in whatever direction the winds of the morning take you and fly high above the trees and hills to enjoy the best of Uganda. Many great photo opportunities of the scenery and wildlife below await you!
Later in the day, carry a packed lunch as you make your way toward the Edward Flats and plains in search of the region’s famous tree climbing lions, as well as abundant kob, topi, buffalo and elephant.

Day 4 : Queen Elizabeth National Park
The region around Kasenyi is an open savannah and is swarmed with various wild animals – including the dominant Ugandan kob. This is actually a major breeding area for the Uganda kobs! For that reason, lions are commonly seen here during our various game drives as they are drawn by the large kob population, which is their main prey in this area.
Whereas lions once were uncommon and hard to pin down, now there are up to at least two hundred and these are readily seen within the Kasenyi Plains. In addition, this area supports a fascinating diversity of grassland birds, including the yellowthroated long crow, red-throat spurfowls and the grey-crown cranes.

Day 5 : Entebbe
After breakfast, the last part of our journey will bring us back to Kampala. We will stop in Mbarara for lunch and then continue to the equator for a coffee or tea break and buying souvenirs.
You will be dropped off at the hotel of your choice in Kampala or taken to the airport for your flight home.
