Enjoy a relaxed day at Manali, with half-day sightseeing.
Hadimba Temple - Also known as the Dhoongri Temple, built in 1550 AD, with a four-tiered pagoda shaped roof and a front door way, superbly crafted and carved with figures & symbols. The temple is dedicated to Hadimba Devi, the wife of Bhima (one of the Pandava brothers, from the great epic Mahabharata).
Manu Maharishi temple – Situated in Old Manali village, which lies across the Manalsu river, named after Rishi Manu, who lived and wrote the first constriction of India called “Manu Samriti”. This ancient temple is perhaps the only temple of Maharishi Manu in India. The original name of this village was Manu Alya (abode of Manu), which later on was pronounced as Manali, the name now borrowed by the main town.
Shiva Temple Buddhist monastery – A small monastery in a peaceful clearing, has the image of Buddha and some exquisite thanka paintings. Famous for carpet weaving and Tibetan handicrafts.
Vashisht Rishi Temple & Hot Water Springs - Across the Beas river, about 3 km away from Manali, at an altitude of 1,982 meters (6,200 feet), are the natural sulphur springs and the ancient Vashisht Rishi temple. The sulphur hot water spring in the premises of the temple is endowed with great healing properties.
Arrive back at the hotel by evening.
the trek begins from Hadimba temple and the climb is through thick forests but there is no water point after departing from Manali. As one gains height in this steep climb, the distinct views of different faces of Indrasan, Deo Tibba and peaks of Bara Shigri glacier open up. In the last lag, the path turns to the right and one traverses the ridge horizontally and enters the campsite on an alpine plateau studded with thick growth of alpine flowers.
The height gain on this day is approximately 1 km. The trek is through steep a ridge below Khanpari Tibba (4000m). From this point, one can have a magnificent glimpse of Manali, situated on the left bank of River Beas and the whole upper Kullu valley, which appears swathed in the different colors of the season. The lake at Rani Sui is a small mountain tarn with 360 degree views of the Pir Panjal and Dhauladhar ranges.
It's a steady descent today through high altitude meadows and pine, maple, horse chestnut, walnut forests. Continuous descent through dense pine forests will take you to the village of Parsha and then further down to national highway at Kalath. A vehicle will pick up from there and drop you at the hotel.
