Day wise Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Arrive Kolkata

    Today you arrive at the Airport. Our representative shall meet you and transfer you to Hotel for check-in.

    Kolkata - It is the capital of the Indian state of West Bengal. Kolkata is the cultural capital of India and the commercial capital of Eastern India. It is located in eastern India on the east bank of the Hooghly River. Kolkata served as the capital of India during the British Raj until 1911. Once the centre of modern education, science, culture and politics in India, Kolkata witnessed economic stagnation in the years following India's independence in 1947. However, since the year 2000, an economic rejuvenation has led to a spurt in the city's growth.

    Half Day Tour/Activity : (2nd Half)
    Today we take a tour of Kolkata and do the following :

    Visit the Victoria Memorial - This monument is by far the most impressive and the most famous landmark. Located on the southern end of the Maidan, near, Memorial is constructed fully out of white marble. Set in the beautiful garden grounds, it was built by Lord Curzon in memory of Queen. Designed by William Emerson, the domed structure was completed in 1921. Today, the memorial houses a museum with 25 galleries spread over two floors of the building. A marble statue of Queen stands tall in the centre, while a colossal bronze statue topped with a moving angel, faces the Maidan. The museum contains a superb collection of Raj memorabilia, such as a rosewood piano of Queen and impressive oil paintings at the Calcutta Gallery among others.

    Indian Museum - Located off-Park Street is one of the oldest and largest museums in. Founded in 1814 in the, the museum was later shifted to its present venue. Designed by Walter Granville, the impressive building holds the country's largest repository of artefacts from the 2500 BC Indus Valley Civilization; Gandhara sculptures dating to the 3rd century, and 5th century coins from the Gupta dynasty. It also displays the 2000-year old Bharhut Railings from the Bharhut Stupa, carved with episodes from Buddhist scriptures and events from Buddha's life.

    Visit Job Charnok's Tomb - It in is one of the oldest English buildings in the city.

    Visit St. John's Church - It is the first Parish of built in 1787. Besides a few mausoleums, the church is famous for its stunning stained glass painting of 'The last Supper' by artist Johann Zoffany.

  • Day 2 : Kolkata - Bhubaneshwar

    Today you check out from the hotel and we shall transfer you to Airport for flight to Bhubaneshwar.On arrival in Bhubneshwar, our representative shall meet you and transfer you to Hotel for check-in.

    Bhubaneshwar - It is Popularly known as the temple city of India. Once the capital of ancient Kalinga, the city has a long history & is today a bustling centre for commerce & religious activity. The temples are unique in themselves, not only in their architectural beauty but also in the wonderful sculptures. These temples epitomize a comprehensive history of Orissan style of temple architecture from its very inception to perfection spreading almost to 2000 years from 3rd century BC to 16th Century AD.

    Half Day Tour/Activity : (2nd Half)
    For Today we take a tour of Bhubaneshwar and do the following :

    Visit Lord Shiva Lingaraja Temple - It is the 11th century temple of Bhubaneshwar has been described as "truest fusion of dream & reality." A rare masterpiece, the temple has been rated one of the finest examples of purely Hindu temple. Every inch of the 55 m-high Lingaraja temple is covered with elaborate carvings. Sculpture & architecture fused elegantly to create a perfect harmony.

    Visit Mukteshwara Temple - It is a 7th-8th century AD is one of the most ornate temples in Bhubaneshwar. The intricate carvings of the deities stand testimony to the influence of Hindu, Buddha & Jain style of architecture. The carvings on the roof are specially striking.

    Visit Parashurameshwara Temple - It is a small but richly decorated shrine of Shiva that was built in the 7th century. It is one of the best examples of the Orissa style of temple architecture.

  • Day 3 : Bhubaneshwar - Ratnagiri & Udaigiri - Bhubneshwar (Excursion)

    Full Day Tour/Activity
    Today we take a tour of Bhubneshwar and do the following :

    Visit Udaigiri & Khandagiri Caves - Orissa is well known for the ancient caves located in the twin cities of Udaygiri (meaning the hill of the sunrise) and Khandagiri (meaning the broken hill). They are situated near the capital city of Bhubaneswar. Udaygiri caves are approximately 135 ft high and Khandagiri caves are 118 ft high. The caves are reminiscent of influence of Buddhism and Jainism in Orissa. The origin of the rock cut caves of Udaygiri and Khandagiri dates back to the 2nd century BC.

    The main attraction of these caves consists of its stupendous carvings. Of all the caves in Udaygiri, the largest one is the Rani Gupha or the Queen's Cave. The cave of the queen is adorned with elaborate carvings. There is also an Elephant Cave or the Hathi Gupha, where you can find the amazing statues of elephants installed on the gate. In the Khandagiri city, one can find a large number of caves and most of them have been occupied for meditative purposes. Some of the popular caves in Khandagiri include Akshay Ganga, Gupta Ganga, Shyam Kund and Radha Kund.

    One of the most interesting caves is the 24-Tirthankaras Cave. It contains the carvings of the twenty-four Apostles of Jainism, on the monolithic stones. There is another fascinating cave known as the 'Ganesh Cave'. Udaygiri & Khandagiri caves are one of the famous tourist attractions near the Bhubaneshwar city of India today.

    Visit Ratnagiri - Ratnagiri lies at a distance of 100 km from Bhubaneswar and 70 km from Cuttack. Encompassed by rivers in all the directions, this Buddhist heritage site, built in 5 A.D. holds great archaeological significance. The place is located on a small hill top over-looking the vast plains dotted with green hills in the distance. A large-scale excavation has unearthed two large monasteries, one of them identified as Sri Ratnagiri Mahavihara Aryabhikshu Sangha holds beautiful doorways, cella sanctum, a big stupa, Buddhist shrines, sculptures and colossal Buddha.

    Later drive back to Bhubneshwar.

  • Day 4 : Bhubaneswar - Baliguda

    Today we drive to Baliguda.

    Baliguda - It is in the district of Phulbani, through the beautiful countryside road full with small mountains of Sal forest, one of the entry point to the tribal highland of Orrisa. Baliguda is supposed to be one of the three forest divisions located in the district of Phulbani. The region comprises of a range of plateaus covering the core crests of the Eastern Ghats. The condition of the earth is very uneven and craggy with vertical slopes. The inclines are seldom moderate and leveled, and can only be found in the rare flat constricted stretches of the plateaus.

    Today we take a tour of Tribal villages near Baliguda.

    Visit Tribal Villages - You will visit the different Villages & meet Desai Kondh tribe. See the lifestyle of the tribes in that area.

  • Day 5 : Baliguda - Rayagada (Via Kauttiya Kondh and Rasul Kondh Tribal villages)

    Today we drive to Rayagada.
    Half Day Tour/Activity : (1st Half)
    Enroute we visit the Tribal villages and do the following :

    Visit Tribal Villages - Visit Kauttiya Kondh Tribal villages and Rasul Kondh villages. Attend the weekly market at Kothagargh. At this place you can see and experience the culture & life style of the Tribal communities.

    Rayagada - Rayagada is a district of meadows, forests, water falls and terraced valleys, peopled by many primitive tribal groups. The scenic beauty and heritage on the land is an unexplored paradise. The pattern of people living in the district show unity in diversity of races, languages, and culture. The Scheduled Tribes living in the district possess dissimilar economics ranging from food gathering to settled cultivation. Their languages/dialects, societies and culture show inter-societal and cultural variations because of the ethnic mosaic.

    In the third century B.C, during the reign of Ashoka the Great, it was under Kalinga empire (ancient Orissa). The hilly track between Bansadhara and Nagabali was famous for spices. The Rastriks were defeated by Kharvela, the only Aryan Emperor of Kalinga (ancient Orissa), during the Chawpagada battle.

  • Day 6 : Rayagada - Jeypore

    Half Day Tour/Activity : (1st Half)
    Today we take an excursion of Chitakona and do the following :

    Chatikona - We will take small a trek to Chatikona in the morning. Visit the tribal communities especially the Dongaria Kondh tribes. Enjoy shopping in the weekly tribal markets for souvenirs, also interact with the members of the tribe and experience the lifestyle and culture of their community.
    Later we drive to Jeypore and check-in the Hotel.

    Jeypore - It is an ancient town with a niche in the history of Orissa. A small town in the hills,it is endowed with some of nature's best work in the form of it's greenery and beauty. The town has ancient forts, palaces, and temples. The major language spoken in this region is Oriya. Though Oriya is predominantly spoken in Jeypore, this town has a diverse cultural mix with a significant population speaking Telugu and Hindi. This town is an amalgamation of the culture and traditions of the East and the south of India. It is this blend of different languages and cultures that gives Jeypore its unique shade in cuisine, language and lifestyle.

  • Day 7 : Jeypore - Onukudelli - Jeypore (Excursion)

    Today we take an excursion to Onukudelli.

    Onukudelli - Onukudelli is another paradise with exquisite picturesque landscape, located on the Eastern Ghats. It is an isolated village with an enormous hydroelectric power plant. Apart from the tribal communities, people categorized as 'lower caste or scheduled caste' also live here since their last few generations. The place takes pride in its natural panoramic view lush green woods, cluster of hills, tranquil surroundings with a rich endowment of flora and fauna and above all, the tribal societies dwelling in this area. The novelty of the state is truly retained by its tribal population. They continue to lead a rustic lifestyle in the lap of nature. These tribal societies embrace the faction of people who understand the meaning of living together and join hands to work together to achieve any shared interest to cater to the benefits of their society.

    In Onkudelli we do the following :

    Interact with the local communities at weekly tribal market, also you can buy some ethnic and tribal souvenirs from the market.

  • Day 8 : Jeypore - Gupteshwar - Jeypore (Excursion)

    Full Day Tour/Activity
    Today we take an excursion to Gupteshwar.

    Gupteshwar - It is a famous pilgrim place situated from about 55 km of Jeypore, Koraput-District. This place is a lime stone cave discovered some time ago and has a number of Scenic Spots arround. The main attraction is the Giant Shiva Linga which is said to be increasing is size. Pilgrims from all over the country come here. The yearly BolBom yarta during the Sravana period is held in this place. Devotes come to this place by walk, during BolBom yatra and take bath in the maha kund & then chant near the Shiva linga.

  • Day 9 : Jeypore - Taptapani (via Koratpur Tribal museum)

    Today we drive to Taptapani.
    Half Day Tour/Activity : (2nd Half)
    Enroute we visit Tribal museum at Koratpur.

    Tribal Museum - Koratpur Tribal Museum displays a collection of stone sculptures, metal images, metal objects, jewelry, terracotta, wooden objects, textiles and anthropological objects. A small zoo is also functioning inside the museum. Library facilities are available.

    Later we drive to Taptapani and check-in the hotel.

    Taptapani - Famous for its hot water spring, Taptapani, is situated at 67 km from Gopalpur. A trip to Taptapani will offer you a vacation package, stuffed with ebullience and thrill. Hiking through the reeds with high vim, you come out of the forest, and experience a hot water spring soaking away all your aches and pains. Taptapani is also the home of primitive Kutia Kondh tribe, the Dingaria Kondh tribe, Bonda and the Mali tribes.

    In Taptapani we do the following :

    Visit the Hot Spring - As the name indicates, half of Taptapani excursion is about taking a bath in the hot water spring. Hundreds of visitors, round the year, come to Taptapani to enjoy this fantastic spring with medicinal merits.   • Day 10 : Taptapani - Puri (via Chadragiri & Chillika lake)

    Today we drive to Puri.

    Enroute we visit Chandragiri & Chillika Lake :

    Visit Chandragiri - A Tibetan village inside the heart of Orissa. During the Chinese Aggression of Tibet in 1959, these Tibetan refugees crossed over to India along with the Dalai Lama and were allotted this spot. They built cottages and camps and a monastery resembling what they had left in Tibet. It is sheer zeal and hard work that has transformed this jungle into crop growing fields. Maize and corn is everywhere to be seen. The beautiful houses and well maintained gardens reflect the economic independence of the residents. Colorful flags decorated with dragons and inscribed with prayers welcome anyone under the clean blue sky.

    Visit Chillika lake - It is Famous for its bird sanctuary. It is Asia's largest inland salt-water lagoon. Studded with small islands including the picturesquely named Honeymoon Island & Breakfast Island, the lake is separated by a sandy ridge. It is dotted with small islands & has an impressive array of bird life both native & migrant. White bellied sea eagles, graylag geese, purple moorhen, jacana, herons & flamingos are most popular bird species found. Other than the birds, its shores are home to black buck, spotted deer, golden jackals & the lake is rich in aquatic life, its water harbor various species of fish including the famous Chilka dolphin. Prawn, crab & mackerel fishing is an important source of livelihood for the locales.

    Today we take a tour of Puri and do the following :

    Visit Jagannath Temple - This temple is dedicated to Krishna (Vishnu) in his deity form of Jagannath, meaning Lord of the Universe (Jag translates to Universe, nath means Lord). The present temple structure was built by Ananta Brama Chodaganga Dev in middle of 12th century AD (1078-1147 AD). It is a curvilinear temple which rises to 214 feet. Crowning the very top is the 'srichakra' (an eight spoked wheel) of Vishnu. The most important festival is the Rath Yatra or the Chariot festival once a year.

    Visit Puri Beach - Explore the Puri beach, one of India's finest beaches. Puri Beach attracts millions of travelers to India with its strategic setting & religious importance.
