Dracaena Amazon Lodge is located on the banks of the Cuyabeno River in the upper part of the Cuyabeno Reserve, 30 minutes from Laguna Grande. The lodge provides the opportunity to explore and admire one of the Amazon basin's unique ecosystems, the flooded forest or Igapo in the Laguna Grande. Dracaena Amazon Lodge provides a quiet and peaceful environment that is essential for seeing all types of wildlife due to its good location, which is remote from other lodges.
Overnight transfer by bus from the City of Quito has an estimated time of 8 hours, to get to the Cuyabeno Bridge, we arrive at 10h30 – 11h00a.m, after checking at the guardianship of the Cuyabeno Bridge, we will navigate down the Cuyabeno river for 2 hours and thirty minutes until we reach our Lodge, on the way our guide will be looking for different species of monkeys and birds. Arrival at the lodge. Lunch. You will have time to rest until 4:30 p.m., and then you will go on a night walk to observe different species of spiders, insects, amphibians and others. Dinner and our guide will share the next day’s program.
Note 1: There is no flight operation from Quito to Lago Agrio.
We will go out in the motor canoe to enjoy the Amazonian landscape and look for monkey and bird species before returning to the lodge for breakfast at 08h00a.m. After breakfast, we will go on a walk to learn about the rainforest plants and trees and their practical and medicinal uses before returning to the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, you will travel by motor canoe along the Cuyabeno River to Laguna Grande, where you can swim and watch the pink dolphins while enjoying a spectacular sunset in the Amazon. At night, you'll continue your journey down the river in search of nocturnal animals, particularly caimans.
We will go out in the motor canoe to enjoy the landscape and look for different species of monkeys and birds, then return to the lodge for breakfast at 08h00a.m., after a while at 10h00a.m., our motor canoe will take us with our paddling canoe to the monkey island to enjoy the place and try to look for different species of animals until we arrive at our lodge for lunch.
Then, at 16h00 p.m., we'll go on a hike through the forest.
We'll go on a night walk to look for snakes and nocturnal toads.
After breakfast, we return to the Cuyabeno Bridge for our final activity, which is to look for various animals that the rainforest has to offer. When we arrive at the Cuyabeno Bridge, we will receive our box lunch and be transferred back to Lago Agrio or Quito, depending on availability.
Important: The naturalist guide will be able to rearrange the days of the itinerary as he or she sees fit.
