  • Day 1 : Paro-Thimphu

    The flight to Paro is one of the most spectacular in entire Himalayas. After immigration formalities and baggage collection, you will be met by our representative, and afterwards drive to Thimphu, the capital town of Bhutan.
    On arrival, in Thimphu check-into the hotel. The capital town of Bhutan and the centre of Government, religion and commerce. Thimphu is a unique city with unusual mixture of modern development alongside ancient traditions. Evening an exploratory walk around Thimphu city centre.

  • Day 2 : Thimphu tour of Local sightseeing

    After breakfast in the morning at 7:00 AM we will drive for Thimphu tour of local sight seeing.

    KuenselPhodrang

    The KuenselPhodrang or the Buddha point isthe worldโ€™s largest sitting Buddha statue, the statue is 167 feet high. Today after breakfast we will visit Buddha Dordenma, which is one of the largest and tallest Buddha statue in the World at 169 feet. The body of the Buddha is filled with 1,25,000 smaller statues of Buddha. The view of the Thimphu valley is spectacular from this point.
    Next visit to the famous landmark of the capital, the Memorial Chorten, consecrated in the memory of the Third kind of Bhutan who is regarded as the father of the modern Bhutan. Just as you enter the Chorten, you will be amazed to witness the local people, young and the old alike, circumambulate the Chorten with the prayer beads or the prayer wheel in hand, murmuring the sacred words of prayers. The tall four storied Chorten contains statues and iconography of deities from the tantric teachings.
    After that it is time to witness the National Animal of Bhutan, Takin, at the Takin Reserve. Takin are related to sheep and weigh up 650 kgs. According to the local folktale, the Devine Madman, Drukpa Kuenley, created the Takin by joining the goatโ€™s head in the body of the Cow. This interesting animal is an endangered species found only in few pockets of the Himalayas.

    TashichhoDzong, a Buddhist monastery cum fortress at the northern edge of Thimpu the capital city of Bhutan. The original ThimphuDzong (the Dho-NgyenDzong) is said to have been constructed in 1116 by Lama GyalwaLhanangpa. . (Entry Fees Rs 500 on direct payment basis)

    National Memorial Chorten

    The National Memorial was built by Bhutan's third king, H.M. JigmeDorjiWangchuck who is also known as the "father of modern Bhutan." The national Memorial Chorten is located in the center of the capital city, Thimphu and is designed like a Tibetan style Chorten(Entry Fees Rs 500 on direct payment basis)

    National Textile Museum

    The second important Museum that also opened its doors in 2001 is the National Textile Museum of Bhutan. During a trip to this museum you will get an up close and personal experience of the living national art of weaving.

    National Institute of ZorigChusum

    The art and crafts currently taught in Bhutan, were introduced to the country in the 15th century by Trenton PemaLingpa. . (Entry Fees Rs 200 on direct payment basis)

    National Library

    Bhutan's National Library was established in the 1967. Its mission is to preserve the literary treasures of the nation which constitute a significant element of Bhutan's rich and vibrant cultural heritage.

    MotithangTakin Preserve

    The MotithangTakin Preserve also known as the Thimphu Zoo by many is a small natural preserve for the Takin Bhutanโ€™s national animal. (Entry Fees Rs 300 on direct payment basis)

    Jungshi Handmade Paper Factory

    The Jungshi Handmade Paper Factory is a small paper factory located in Thimphu that produces paper using traditional Bhutanese methods.
    The paper products produced at the factory are made from Daphne or Mulberry plant bark.

    Folk Heritage Museum or โ€œPhelchey Toenkhyimโ€ was established on July 28th, 2001. It was established by the Queen Mother of Bhutan, Her Majesty Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck. The building structure is more than 150 years old. It was set in the core area of Thimphu city with a rural way of life including paddy, wheat, and millet fields.     The folk heritage museum was open to the general public in 2001 upon completion. It treasures troves of culture and rich Bhutanese heritage provide rich insights into the Bhutanese ethos.

    Simply Bhutan is an interactive 'living' museum that gives a good guided introduction to various aspects of Bhutanese traditional life. Visitors get to learn how to distil ara, dress up in traditional clothes, try out archery and hear songs sung by Bhutanese women as they build houses out of rammed earth. It's a good family experience. There are also souvenir shops and a snack bar. (Entry Fees Rs 1000 on direct payment basis)

    After completing the visit of all places of interest spend the enjoyable times at Simply Bhutan and enjoy the Bhutanese cultural dances and leisures.

  • Day 3 : Thimphu โ€“ Punakha & Wangdue via Dochula pass(73.3 Km approx. 2 hours drive)

    After breakfast, we will drive towards the remaining part of Thimphu which have not yet visited such as Botanical Garden, as per the guideโ€™s guidances.

    After completing all after lunch we will head toward Punakha enroute Dochula Pass, a 16 kilometers, 40 minutes drive through the winding road, admist the forest of Pines and Juniper and the lovely view of the Simtokha Dzong as we ascend slowly towards Dochu La Pass.
    In 2003, Bhutan chased the Indian rebels, hiding in Bhutan in the eastern border, out of the country with a minimal loss to the Bhutan army. Some wanted to erect a monument for the victory, but the King replied that war should never be glorified. So instead he commissioned this monument honoring the dead soldiers and the dead rebels from the conflict.The 108 stupas is a memorial built then.
    The Dochula Pass an altitude of about 3100 m is the places where this memorial is built. Set admist the fluttering prayer flags, it is a visitorโ€™s delight to spend some time here. The pass is popular among the tourists because of its 360 degree panoramic view of Himalayan range. The place is worth going in clear winter days with magnificent view of snowcapped mountains and mountain pass.
    The 108 beautiful Chortens is built by Her Majesty Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck. From this pass, on a clear day, you can have a superb view of the highest peaks, the sharp peak being Masagang (7200 m) dominating the region, others are Tsendagang (6960 m), Terigang (7060 m),Jejegangphugang (7158m) and Kangphugang (7170m).
    We will spend our time here, taking a stroll in between this 108 chortens, breathing in the fresh air, admiring the mountain ranges and getting lost in nature.
    After this wonderful visit, we will take the downhill drive towards Punakha and reach Punakha at 2-3 PM or as per the guideโ€™s suggestions.

    Punakha Dzong

    On reaching Punakha it is time to take a beautiful visit After your lunch, drive to Punakha, we will visit Punakha Dzong, the most beautiful Dzong in Bhutan built in 1637 by Shabdrung, the spiritual and temporal ruler of Bhutan prior to the present dynasty. It is an old capital, which still serves as the winter residence of the monk body. The first King, Ugyen Wangchuck, was crowned here in 1907. It is now the winter residence of the Central Monastic Community and administrative headquarters of Punakha district.
    The PunakhaDzong or the PungtangDechenPhortangDzong is located at the confluence of the Mo Chhu and the Po Chhu River, combine to form the Puna Tsang Chu which in turn is a tributary of the mighty Brahmaputra River. The Dzong was constructed by ZhabdrungNgawangNamgyalWangchuck in 1638.
    Next we will see one of the longest suspension bridge in Bhutan, spanning 350m and perched high above the very swift river of Po Chhu. Draped with prayer flags, the bridge connects the town of Punakha and the Punakha Dzong, mainly used by locals from the other side of the town as a shortcut to Punakha Dzong.     Longest Suspension Bridge & Punakha Yulley Namgyal Lhakhang
    After that, we will be driving to the longest suspension bridge and enjoy sight-seeing.
    After that we will be visiting Punakha Yulley Namgyal Lhakhang for sight seeing.
    Chimi Lhakhang
    Next we will drive to Chimmi Lhakhang to start with and enjoy the beauty of the Lhakhang. The monastery stands on a small hill close to the village of Lobesa and was constructed in 1499 by NgawangChoegyel, the 14th Drukpa heirarch(Entry Fees Rs 500 on direct payment basis).

    Day 4(30.10.2024) : Excursion from Punakha to Phobjika(A day long excursion drive) and be back to Punakha.
    Today After breakfast we will drive for excursion for travel to Phobjikha. Through the dense forests of the Phobjikha Valley you arrive at Gantey village where you see the Gangtey Monastery and visit the monastery. Phobjikha valley is part of the beautiful Jigme Singye Wangchuck National Park (formerly known as Black Mountains National Park), one of Bhutanโ€™s most important nature sanctuaries. After lunch at Phobjikha valley and explore the valley and also visit the Black Necked Crane Center. After completion of Phobjikha tour of sightseeing return back to Punakha.

  • Day 5 : Punakha to Paro(4 ยฝ hours drive)

    After breakfast in the morning at 8:00 AM after completing remaining local tours of Punakha and Wangdue we will drive towards Paro enroute Dochula Pass again.

    Tachog Lakhang
    On the way we will stop over at Chuzom confluence followed by Tachog Lakhang on the way to Paro.
    Namgay Artisanal Brewery; An ultimate place to take a sip of your favourite styles of beer, Namgay Artisanal Brewery is among the most coveted places to visit in Paro. Brewing a wide range and some of the best quality beers in the world, this brewery is known for its unique flavour and aroma produced from indigenous Bhutanese ingredients.     Dungtse Lhakhang(Entry Fees Rs 500 on direct payment basis), built in the early 15th century, Dumtse Lhakhang provides with an in-depth knowledge of Buddhism to its visitors. It is located between the valleys of Dopshari and Paro and is in the form of a Chorten which is quite rare and exceptional in Bhutan. The monastery contains a few beautiful Buddhist iconographies and paintings.
    Initially constructed by Thangton Gyalpo in 1421, to subdue an evil spirit, it is a three-storey temple, with each storey representing hell, earth and heaven respectively.
    Ta Dzong (National Museum of Bhutan)
    The National Museum of Bhutan is housed inside the six storied circular Ta Dzong. The Ta Dzong is a medieval watch tower situated above the RimpungDzong. The Ta Dzong was constructed in 1656.

    Rinpung Dzong

    The ParoDzong is probably Bhutan's best known and most iconic Dzong. This is probably the first building you will notice when you land at Paro International Airportand will probably be your first memory of Bhutan.

  • Day 6 : Hike to Tiger`s Nest(Paro Taktshang)/ Sightseeing and visit to Kyichu Lhakhang,Re-visit Rinpung Dzong,Taa Dzong

    After breakfast early in the morning at 5:00-06 AM let us take a day walk to the โ€˜Tiger's Nestโ€™, the sacred Taktshang monastery which clings to the rock face 900 metres above the valley floor. Guru Rinpoche is said to have flown to the site riding on a tigress. He subsequently meditated here for three months. It is one of Bhutanโ€™s most holy sites and draws pilgrims not only from Bhutan but also from neighbouring Buddhist countries.You can have lunch at the Taktshang cafeteria from where you get a spectacular view of the monastery. Nearby you can also visit the 7th century Kyichu Lhakhang, a temple of historical significance and one of the most sacred shrines in Bhutan. (Entry Fees Rs 1000 on direct payment basis).

    The next stop will be at Kyichu Lhakhang/Monastery one of Bhutanโ€™s oldest, built in 659 A.D. by the Tibetan King Songsten Goembo. (Entry Fees Rs 500 on direct payment basis).
    Stop over at any center of Hot Stone Bath arranged by the guide. You can also experience hot stone bath. A traditional hot stone bath (Extra Cost between 1500-2000) uses river rocks that therapists place in water where they crack and steam, releasing key minerals and relieving deep-set aches. In the past, families soaked after their seasonal farm work in winter. The long, healing bath relaxed their tired bodies and always worked to rid them of any ailment they had picked up during the long months of hard work. It is also believed to cure stomach disorders, arthritis, joint pains and many other minor diseases โ€“ though there is no scientific evidence of this.

  • Visa processing tips:
  • 1. Indian tourists do not require Visa.
  • Bhutan entry permit is processed by the travellers at the immigration counter for which you need to have a copy of your more than 6 months valid passport or Voter ID. You need to print and carry to fly to Bhutan, provide at immigration check point authorities who will stamp on your passport.
  • 2. Your passport must be valid for more than 6 months at the time of travel in Bhutan.
  • For those coming via Phuntsholing:
  • While coming via Phuntsholing entry permit will have to done manually done. For this you need to carry one number of passport sized photograph, copy of either passport or Voter ID card and wait for immigration formalities while the driver or guide will do the same on your behalf as per the followingโ€

  • a) Indian nationals visiting Bhutan do not require visa. However, they will be issued an entry permit. โ€˜Entry Permitโ€™ will be issued by the Department of Immigration in the Pedestrian Terminal at Phuentsholing on the basis of a valid
  • b) Travel Document. Tourists/visitors from India are required to carry the following Travel Documents:
  • c) Original Indian Passport (with minimum six months validity) or Original Voter ID card;
  • d) For children below 18 years, Original birth certificate (in English language) or passport, and must be accompanied by a legal guardian;

  • f) Tourists should have travel insurance for the duration of the trip. There is also an option to purchase domestic travel insurance from Bhutanese insurance providers at the Pedestrian Terminal at Phuentsholing.   • 2. (SDF)Sustainable Development Fee:
  • India tourists are required to pay Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) of INR 1,200/- per person per night. Children aged 5 years and below are exempted of SDF and children between the age of 6-12 years are given 50 % concession on SDF. Tourist visiting Samtse, Phuentsholing, Gelephu, and Samdrup Jongkhar towns for 24 hours need not pay Sustainable Development Fee (SDF).
  • 3. Requirement of vaccination:
  • There are no Covid-19 vaccination requirements for adults or children to enter Bhutan from September 23, 2022. However, it is advised to carry the Vaccination Certificate. Individuals above 12 years may be randomly subjected to RT-PCR testing at points of entry. No fee shall be charged for the RT-PCR testing for surveillance.
  • 4. Pedestrian Terminal at Jaigaon-Phuentsholing border:
  • The Pedestrian Terminal at Jaigaon-Phuentsholing border remains open for 24x7. Entry Permit is not required for daily visitors who will be visiting Phuentsholing only. An online pre-registration system has been developed to pass through the pedestrian terminal at website https://bms.doi.gov.bt. On successful registration, a QR code will be generated. The registered person is required to present the QR code at the immigration counter along with the required identity document. Pre-registration is one time and there is no need to register again. Daily visitors can visit until Rinchending Check Post. SDF will be applicable beyond this point and they will also have to obtain a permit from the Regional Immigration Office. Casual visitors who make night halt beyond 24 hours in Phuentsholing will have to pay SDF. For daily visitors, a User Fee of Nu.10 per person (Bhutanese as well as foreigners) is charged for entering through the Pedestrian Terminal each time, no User Fee charged on exit.
  • 7. Other entry/exit points:
  • Other entry/exit points on the southern Indo-Bhutan border are in Samtse, Samdrup Jongkhar, Sarpang/Gelephu.
  • B. Department of Immigrations and Tourism:
  • i) Indian tourists who are planning their trip to Bhutan are advised to make following arrangements through the certified travel agent:

  • ๏ƒ˜ Accommodation: It is mandatory to stay in Department of Tourism certified accommodation for the whole duration of trip.

Children aged 5 years and below are exempted of SDF and children between the age of 6-12 years are given 50 % concession on SDF. Tourist visiting Samtse, Phuentsholing, Gelephu, and Samdrup Jongkhar towns for 24 hours need not pay Sustainable Development Fee (SDF).
