The Royal Manas Safari is going to offer you the oldest nature preserved in the Kingdom of Bhutan. The Manas National Park covers 1057 sq. km of the southern central Bhutan and shares the southern border with the India’s Manas Tiger Reserve which is listed as a World Heritage Site. Manas is home to a wide variety of wildlife including the endangered Royal Bengal Tiger, Elephants, Rhinoceroses, Clouded leopard, Himalayan black bear, Civets, Gigantic Dolphin, Pangolin and the extremely rare Golden langur. About 200 species of birds can be spotted and more than 365 species have been officially registered. Its incredible biodiversity including exotic species of flora and fauna and more than 900 types of plants existence made it one of the most diverse protected areas in Bhutan.
Day 1 : Arrive in Paro to Thimphu / ALT-2320M
Your first day travelling to Bhutan by Druk Airways is going to be fascinating with the first glance over the Bhutan Himalayas. Upon your arrival at Paro International airport you will be greeted by our representative and transferred to Thimphu the capital of Bhutan. Latter, you will go for the following visits around Thimphu city.
HIGHLIGHTS
• Memorial Chorten: It is the Iconic figure of Thimphu Valley. It was built in memory of the third King, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck in 1974.
• Amazing Buddha statue: Buddha Statue, 177ft tall is reputed as the largest Shakyamuni Buddha Statue in the world. It is located on the ridge of the mountain overlooking the capital city. Evening will be a leisure time to move around the bazaar.
• Traditional arts and crafts Institute: The legacy of our fore-fathers’ culture and tradition on 13 types of art and craft were still practiced in Bhutan. It is the heart of our culture that is preserved and taught in this institute, especially mend to pass down to the generations.
• Textile Museum: It houses both ancient and the modern textiles displaying the vibrant culture and tradition of Bhutan.
• Simply Bhutan: Simply Bhutan offers insight about the Bhutanese cultural that are being presented and demonstrated in live. Highlight of visit could be tasting locally brewed wine called Ara. It is offered in traditional manner from a wine case Palang into a wooden cup with singing song by the girls. Lunch with Suja is also served to those interested
Day 2 : Thimphu to Gaylegphu / ALT- 221M / 240km / 6-7hrs
After early breakfast, you will drive to Gaylegphu, a border town and gateway to southern & central Bhutan. The town is large but less hustle which makes it pleasant for a night halt. You will stop for lunch on the way. The road leads along the bank of Wangchu river meandering through sub-tropical forests and crossing villages and small townships of Tsirang and Sarbang. Check-in on arrival. Overnight halt at the hotel in Gaylegphu.
Day 3 : Gaylegphu to Gomphu / ALT-1457M / 150km / 4hrs
HIGHLIGHTS
You will drive to north Zhemgang through mandarin orchards and cardamom farm in Surrey village. From this village you get views of the Dungshing Peak, the highest peak among the Black Mountain range, on clear weather. After Surrey village, continue on to the town of Tingtibi by the side of Mangde Chu River and then to Gomphu, a place of flourishing sub-tropical ecosystem owing to the maximum rainfall it receives. En-route you might spot unique birds such as Great Hornbill, yellow-throated Fulvetta and more common species like black eagle, blue-throated Barbet, Blue-bearded Bee-eater, golden babble, nuthatch and rufous–bellied eagle. Gomphu is the northernmost tip of Royal Manas Park located at 1450m/4757ft. The place harbors a number of wildlife such as the golden langur, tiger, leopard, clouded leopard and sambar along with a number of bird species. Overnight stay will be at the Eco-camp.
Day 4 : Gomphu to Panbang /ALT-705.48M / 85 km / 4-5hrs
HIGHLIGHTS
Drive to Panbang located near confluence of Dangme Chhu and Mangde Chhu River through picturesque villages and through forest of mixed broad-leaved with thick undergrowth. People here live a simple life in bamboo houses with thatched banana/grass roofs. It is perfect for a quiet time into nature and also leisure activities of bird watching and even butterfly tours. You might spot Pale-headed Woodpecker, White-hooded Babbler, White-breasted and Pale-billed parrot bills and Yellow–bellied Warbler. Overnight will halt at the Eco-camp.
Day 5 : Royal National Park. / Panbhang
HIGHLIGHTS
Today you will finally head to the Manas National Park and spend two days engaging and exploring the park through various activities like – bird watching, river rafting, picnicking and walking through the Park’s Eco Trail. Take a scenic boat ride on the pristine river to Manas core area and spend some time bird watching. You can also go on an elephant safari and even give them a bath. Other wildlife you can see is water buffalos, rhinoceroses, gorals, pygmy hog, and golden langur. Clouded leopards and total Bengal tigers are rare to spot. Overnight stay will be at Eco-Camp.
Day 6 : Royal National Park. / Manas
1.Exploring more animals and birds.
Day 7 : Panbang to Trongsa / ALT-2200M / 170km / 6hrs
It is time to leave park and drive to Trongsa. The first thing to notice is the change in vegetation from sub-tropical to broad-leaved evergreen forests. In Trongsa visit Trongsa Dzong, the masterpiece of Bhutanese architecture built in 1644. Situated atop a steep ridge above Mangde Chhu (river), the Dzong gives impressive views of the surrounding valleys. Check-in into the hotel on arrival. Overnight halt will be at the hotel in Trongsa.
Day 8 : Trongsa to Gangtey / ALT- 2800M / 77km / 2-3hrs
Today you will drive to Gangtey. En-route, you will stop for a while at Chendebji Chorten which was built in 18th century by Lama Shida in Nepalese style with eyes painted at four cardinal points. Upon arrival in Gangtey and after lunch, we will first visit the Majestic Gangtey Gyenpa overlooking Phojikha valley below. Afternoon we can stroll down the Beautiful Phobjikha Valley or even we can hike through trails that lead towards villages. If the tour falls in winter ( November- February end) we can spot the endangered bird, Black Necked Cranes in the valley. Overnight in Gangtey.
Day 9 : Gangtey to Paro / ALT-2200M / 170km / 5hrs
You will stop for tea at Dochula Pass and if time permits will visit the Druk Wangyel Lhakhang located just 10minutes walk from there.
Overnight halt in Paro.
Day 10 : Paro / ALT-2200m / Hike to Tiger’s Nest
HIGHLIGHTS
• Tiger’s Nest: Taking a hike to Taktsang monastery is the most rewarding. It is solely because of its unique location of the monastery that is unbelievably perched on the sheer cliff, with a height of 900m above the ground level. The uphill hike takes about 4 to 5 hours which may be a challenging in the beginning, but it is rewarding once you reach to the real sight. Lunch is served at the Taktsang cafeteria located up on the mountain. After having explored if time permits, you will be back to Paro for the following visits.
• Paro National Museum:
The Museum houses some of the finest Bhutanese arts and Crafts and the detailed exhibition on National Bio-diversity of Bhutan.
• Paro Rinpung Dzong:
It is a beautiful Dzong built at the bank of Pa chu river. It is believed to have built on the heap of jewel. The figure is adorned with traditional wooden bridge at its foreground.
• Hot stone bath: (evening):
