This trek is perhaps one of the best and certainly the most popular of the entire trek in Darjeeling for those having a limited time at their disposal. It offer the traveller an excellent view of the Mt. Kanchenjunga and the Mt. Everest group of mountain peaks in Nepal, Sikkim and Bhutan.
Duration: 8 Nights and 9 Days
Highest Altitude: 3,750m.
Grade: Moderate.
Best Time to Trek: March to June&August to November.
Day 1 :
Pick-up at Bagdogra Airport – Darjeeling (7,200 ft), (90 kms / 3 hrs)
Meet & Greet on arrival at IXB airport & transfer To Darjeeling.
Overnight stay at the hotel in Darjeeling.
Day 2 :
Early Morning (at 04:00 am) drive to Tiger hill to watch the spectacular sunrise over Mt. Khangchendzonga (28,208 ft. Worlds 3rd highest peak) (subject to clear weather), on your way back visit Ghoom Monastery and Batasay Loop. After breakfast visit Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, P.N. Zoological Park (Thursday closed), Tenzing Rock, Tibetan Refugee self-help Centre (Sunday closed), Tea Garden (outer view) and Japanese Temple (4 hrs from 9.00 to 13.00 hrs). Evening free for shopping and personal activities. Overnight stay at Darjeeling.
Day 3 :
Drive one and half hour to Maneybhanjyang and trek Tonglu (2800m/5km/4hrs). It gives an good view of Kanchenjunga Range.
Day 4 :
Trek from Tonglu to Sandakphu (3750m/15km/6hrs).
Day 5 :
Trek from Sandakphu to Phalut (3606m). Phalut is one of the loftiest peak in the Singalila Range and the trail from Sandakphu is the most spectacular with burned silver-fir forest making the most beautiful sight and the view of Everest group on the left and Kanchenjunga range right ahead. A magnificent view of the snowy range is obtained from the Phalut summit at a much closer range.
Day 6 :
Trek from Phalut to Ramman (2560m). The trail descends the ridge through virgin forest of chestnut, pines till it reaches the meeting of the two streams called Gorkhey Khola, a tributary of Ramman river. After a rest, climb upto Samandin, a lovely plateau. From here, descends to a small stream and then climb for about 2hrs to reach Ramman.
Day 7 :
Trek from Ramman to Rimbick (2286m). From Ramman the trail is almost a walk for the first 9km till we descend to Srikhola. Rest at the stream and then walk to Rimbick which is a small village.
Day 8 :
Drive from Rimbick to Darjeeling for about 4hrs. Overnight stay at Darjeeling.
Day 9 :
Drop to Bagdogra Airport according to the flight schedule. Tour ends.
