Sandakphu Trek

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Darjeeling - Maneybhanjyang - Tonglu

  You should be excited and be ready for your Trekking. We will soon start after breakfast at 8 am and drive to Maneybhanjyang where your trek begins. Drive is appro 2hrs.
  After spending some time in Maneybhanjyang you will start your first trek for about 6 hours walk. Tonglu (3070 m), it is 11 kms from Manebhanjang.
  The days walk is uphill and the trail passes through small village of Chitre and forests of Rhododendrons and Magnolias. The trekkers hut at Tonglu ( 3020m) is located on a hill top overlooking the Sikkim Himalayas. Onernight at Tonglu.

• Day 2 : Tonglu - Gairibas - Kalipokhari

  Wake up early to explore the beautiful sunrise over the Himalayas. The second day of Sandakphu Trek will be more interesting as we undertake a pleasant walk through the forest which is home to the rare Red Panda, Tragopan and the bamboo glades.
  
  After breakfast we begin a downhill trek to Garribas (2621 m). This small village is approximately 9km from Tonglu and will take you around 3 hours to reach.
  
  After lunch at Gairibas we gear up for a continuous uphill climb to Kalipokhari (3170 m). It is 6km form Gairibas 3 hours of hike. The trekking during springtime will capture rhododendron throughout the route.
  After about 6 hrs the camping area of Kalapokhri (3170 m) is reached, where we spend the night.

• Day 3 : Kalipokhari - Sandakphu

  Wake up early and start soon after breakfast to the roof of the mountain. Your journey from Kalipokhari to Sandakphu will be exiting one. Sandakphu explores beautiful peaks of Lhotse( 8501m), Everest( 8848m) and Makalu(8475m) of the Nepal Himalayas and the huge Kanchenjunga massif (8586m) along with other peaks of the Sikkim himalayas. The valley of the Sandakphu will be covered with Rhododendrons.
  This day will be a tough day as the trek for today will be tiring and you will have to climb though steep hills. But this will be rewarding soon when you reach the roof of Sandakphu, it will simply be amazing when you capture the white Himalayas with blowing chilling wind and Rhododendrons on the valley.
  
  Overnight at Sandakphu.

  • Themes Hill Stations & Valleys
• Day 4 : Sandakphu - Phalut

  Your trek is not yet complete so wake up early once again and don’t miss the golden sun rays over the Himalayas. After breakfast we will start our trek to Phalut.
  The trail is along a ridge and can be considered as one of the most enjoyable and scenic walks in the Himalayas. The whole range of snowy peaks is always in view and the trail passes through high altitude vegetation and areas of dwarf rhododendrons and firs. The walk to Phalut(3600m) is about 07 hours. Overnight at Phalu.
• Day 5 : Phalut - Rammam

  Wake up early and capture the beautiful sunrise over the Himalayas. From Phalut you will walk downhill passing through the thick virgin forest of chestnut, pines, hemlock and more. The overall walk is about 5hrs.
• Day 6 : Rammam - Rimbik

  Finally we will end our trek today; you will walk 19km from Ramman to Rimbik. You could start your trek after breakfast passing the bridge at Sirikhola and through a number of small villages to reach Rimbik (2280m), the road head. Overnight at Rimbick.
• Day 7 : Rimbik - Darjeeling

  After breakfast drive 4 hours to Darjeeling. Sandakphu Trek concludes.
