Sangla Valley:- Sangla Vallely is located at the height of 8900 fts above sea level, in Kinnaur district of state Himachal PradeshSangla is a town in the Baspa River Valley also referred to as the Sangla valley, in the Kinnaur District of Himachal Pradesh, India very close to the Indo-Tibetan border. It is Truly one of the most beautiful places on Earth. The valley is surrounded by forested slopes and offers views of the high mountains. Its location in the greater Himalayan range gives it a milder climate than the plains. Until 1989 outsiders could not enter the valley without a special permit from the Government of India as the valley falls in the Tribal circuit of Himachal. But now Indian Govt issues Inner line permits for indians and foreigners to visit Sangla and beyond. The main villages in the valley villages include Chitkul, Rakcham, and Batseri.

This valley starts 57 km short of Kalpa which has been named after a beautiful & populous village Sangla. Sangla is situated on the right bank of Baspa river 17 kms. from Karcham. Journey from Karcham onwards is enjoyable and adventurous throughout the valley. The natural scenery all around and the eternal snow view are picturesque and charming. It is also known as Baspa Valley since Baspa river flows through this area. This is the most charming valley in the entire District of Kinnaur. A temple dedicated to Nages god is worth a visit & other places are Sapni, Rackchham, Kilba, Kamru Fort which can also be visited. There are post offices, banks, rest houses for the convenience of the visitors.

Demographics:- The local people have a distinct culture and their own dialect, the Kinnauri language.

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Chandigarh - Shimla (129 kilometres in approximately 4 hours)

  Arrive at Chandigarh Railway Station or Airport and drive to Shimla (2180 metres above the sea level). First, On way to Shimla, sightseeing and view attractions like Pinjore Garden, Timber train stop over, Reach Shimla By evening/Night, Check-in at your hotel and spend the rest of the day at your own leisure. Enjoy a warm dinner and spend the night comfortably in your room.

• Day 2 : Shimla - Sarahan (165 kilometres in approximately 7 hours)

  After breakfast, drive from Shimla to Sarahan (2165 metres above sea level). On your way, also visit Kufri, Theog, Fagu, Narkanda and Rampur. On this route, halt at Rampur for lunch. Arrive and Sarahan and check-in to your hotel.
  
  One can catch the breathtaking panoramic view of the Srikhan Mahadev Peak from Sarahan. Sarahan is also famous for its 800 year old Bhimkali Temple, one of the best examples of hill architecture. Attend the evening Aarti Ceremony at the Bhimkali temple, which is also one of the 51 Shaktipeeths.

• Day 3 : Sarahan - Sangla (90 kilometres in approximately 5 hours)

  Join the morning Aarti at Bhimkali Temple. After breakfast, check-out from the hotel and advance for Sanglavia Karcham. Visit another spectacular destination known as Baspa valley - the prettiest valley in Himachal. Arrive at Sangla (2744 metres above sea level) and check-in to your hotel. After lunch, rest in the hotel and spend the day at your own leisure.

• Day 4 : Sangla - Chitkul - Sangla (40 kilometres in approximately 3 hours)

  After breakfast at the hotel, visit the ancient Kamru Fort and Temple dedicated to the Goddess Kamakhya Devi, which was brought from Assam. Also explore other sightseeing places around the area. After Lunch, set out for an excursion to Chitkul, which is the last village on old Indo - Tibetan trade route. Enjoy the scenic beauty of the green orchards & brilliant stream. Later, return to your hotel in Sangla for dinner and overnight stay.

• Day 5 : Sangla - Kalpa (49 kilometres in approximately 4 hours)

  After breakfast this morning, check-out from your hotel and drive to Kalpa. 2670 metres above the sea level, Kalpa is the district headquarter of Kinnaur and was once the favorite getaway of Lord Dalhousie. On reaching Kalpa, check-in to your Hotel. Once known as Chini, little has changed in Kalpa in the last 500 years. Legend has it that when Lord Dalhousie wanted to take a break from his hectic schedule in Shimla, he would come here on his Horseback. By the side of Kalpa is a 79-foot rock formation that resembles a Shivlinga that changes the colour as the day passes and is visible to the naked eye on a clear day. After lunch, rest in your hotel for a while. In the evening, visit the Buddhist Gompa - Hu Bu Lan Kar. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

• Day 6 : Kalpa to Shimla (202 kilometres in approximately 5 hours)

  Early in the morning, witness the beautiful sunrise over the Kinnaur Kailash Peaks. After that, have a hearty breakfast and drive to Shimla. We reached at Shimla afternoon check in at hotel after Visit all iconic places in Shimla like Wild Flower Hall, Jakhoo Hill, Hanuman temple (Beware of the monkeys here), Geity Theater, Church. etc. Full Day Excursions &sightseeing to all points in Shimla. Explore the old colonial buildings, most famous amongst them being the Viceregal Lodge, its imposing six-storey edifice, manicured gardens etc. It is today the institute for advanced studies. It overlooks the Shimla State Museum, which is a treasure trove of Pahari art and sculpture. Explore Lakkar Bazaar, After Dinner, proceeds to the Mall Road & Shimla Ridge for night stroll and enjoy the city mountain lightings- Back to hotel late night.

• Day 7 : Shimla to Kasauli (85 kilometres in approximately 2 hours)

  After breakfast, transfer to Kasauli. Kasauli is a small, unspoiled hill station in Solan district of Himachal Pradesh; it is far away from the maddening crowds which you find in other cities and hill stations. Go for local sightseeing in the town and nearby areas, evening at leisure and one can spend evening tolling in the mall and shopping. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel in Kasauli.
