Probably the best way to really know a country is to walk it’s trails, explore the most remote villages and meet authentic local people. So join us on this journey through the dramatic landscape of Romania, to discover the authentic beauty of this country. We know experienced hikers don’t care about beating the records on speed or distances, they care about the experience. So our Romania hiking tour is a decent paced tour without crazy early starts, plus a hot shower and comfy bed every evening. Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 :

  Meet at Bucharest, airport or hotel Drive 2.5 hours across the Mountains to Transylvania. Short hike in the afternoon Check in at Carpatica Lodge in Moeciu – Bucegi National Park We spend 5 nights here so you don’t have to pack and unpack every day
• Day 2 :

  Hiking in Bucegi National Park. You will discover the scenic western ridge of the park. Walk through beautiful evergreen forests and lovely green meadows Overnight in Pestera Hotel 3*** (swimming pool sauna and jacuzzi available) Distance 11 km Ascent 900m Descent 600m, Time 6h
• Day 3 :

  Explore Ialomitza Cave and the tiny Monastery in the cave. Hike up to Strunga saddle, then on a panoramic trail to Moeciu Distance 10 km, Ascent 40m descent 800m, Time 6h Overnight at Carpatica Lodge
• Day 4 :

  Hike to Magura village We will discover Maguricea the tiniest village ever on the top of the mountain without roads, some houses don’t even have electricity, but people still live up there for centuries. At the top, we get panorama of the mountains Descend through Magura, a remote traditional village, wildflowers along dirt trails, and cows grazing around the small wood houses. Visit Bran Castle, known as Dracula’s castle. Despite its Dracula connection bran is wonderful medieval castle Distance 10 km, ascent 300m descent 300m Time 5h Overnight at Carpatica Lodge
• Day 5 :

  Sightseeing – Medieval Transylvania Visit the Rasnov Fortress – founded around 1225 by Crusaders Teutonic Knights Explore the landmarks of Brasov medieval city centre 1.5 hours walking tour Optionally a 2h hike to Tampa mountain for amazing views of the medieval town Overnight at Carpatica Lodge
• Day 6 :

  Hiking Piatra Craiului National Park Start in the Zarnesti Gorge, a tight limestone valley that used to be a cave whose ceiling collapsed millions of years ago forming this spectacular canyon Enjoy a hearty lunch at Curmatura Chalet Overnight in Moeciu Distance 9 km, ascent 600 m, descent 600m Time 5h
• Day 7 :

  Transfer to Bucharest airport or hotel. (2.5 h)
