A visit to the North East region of India is like opening a window to a unique region of our country. North East holiday packages could take you into the high Eastern Himalayan mountains in Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh where fascinating treks and Buddhist trails await, or into the rolling hills of Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura, Manipur and Mizoram to bring out the regions eclectic cultural influences from Shaktism and Vaishnavism to Christianity, Islam, and animism or nature worship. North East tour packages serve as a smorgasbord of people and cultures where music, cuisine and scenic landscape dotted with wildlife reserves, waterfalls, tea gardens being some of the important cornerstones of a dazzling bouquet of attractions. Booking North East packages is best done after some research. Holiday themes include wildlife, culture, trekking, nature watch, river cruises and long drives, many of which take you close to the 5000 kilometer odd long borders that the region shares with Nepal, Bhutan, China, Myanmar and Bangladesh. Once your main theme or reason to travel to North East is identified, you could start your journey from Siliguri, Gangtok, Guwahati, Imphal-Dimapur- Aizwal or Agartala - all which are well connected to Delhi, Kolkata and other big cities of India by flight and train.

Located in undulating pine covered hills, the city has a milder climate than tropical India. The city centre is 1496m above sea level and currently has a population of around 270,000. Home to several waterfalls, it is also known as the Scotland of the East. The British legacy is still visible in the architecture and food habits of the population. Overnight at Shillong.

The town of Cherrapunji is nestled in the East Khasi Hills about 50 km southwest of the states capital, Shillong. Cherrapunji, also known as Sohra or Churra, means the land of oranges. The cliffs of Cherrapunji also offer stunning views of the plains of Bangladesh.
