On the road to Gulbarga (6h), stop at the ancient fort of Bidar (tenth century). The city is known for crafting bidri, inlaid with silver son alloy.
Visit Gulbarga, former capital of Bahmani: Ami Masjid mosque, built on the plans of one of Cordova, and the tombs of rulers. Continue to Bijapur (4h), dubbed South Agra.
Discover the ancient citadel surrounded by walls and bastions, and the Gol Gumbaz, imposing mausoleum, a masterpiece of Deccan architecture that houses a majestic hall of 1700 m2 surmounted by a huge dome. Visit the mausoleum of Ibrahim Roza, one of the most famous Islamic buildings in India which is distinguished by the refinement of his sculptures; Finally, the Jama Masjid.
Drive to Badami (3h), ancient capital of the Chalukya, which houses a series of beautifully sculpted caves and the walls offer splendid reliefs, including the glory of Vishnu. A cave is a Jain shrine, a symbol of tolerance Chalukya. The site is majestic, the excavated caves in a dry hill crown dominate an artificial lake, the Bhutanath Tank.
Departure by road to Hospet (5h30 drive), near the site of Hampi, the former capital, a World Heritage Site by Unesco. Along the way, visit Pattadakal and Aihole sites. Long day's drive across the Deccan plateau to reach Hassan. On the way visit the fort of Chitradurga, built between the Xth and the eighteenth century.
On the way to Mysore (about 4:30), visit the temples of Belur Halebid and, masterpieces of Hoysala sculptors of the twelfth century. Further, stop Sravanabelagola, center of Jainism, where you admire the huge monolithic statue of Jain sage Gomteshwara. Continuation to the ruins of Srirangapathnam, capital of Tipu Sultan in the eighteenth century. Arrival in Mysore.
Walk on Chamundi Hill wearing a very popular temple dedicated to the tutelary deity of the city. Stop outside the imposing Nandi, Shiva's bull mount. Visit the extravagant palace of the Maharaja. Excursion to the village of Somnathpur where stands the magnificent Hoysala temple of Sri Channakeshara built in the thirteenth century, a true masterpiece of the Indian medieval art. Back in town, stroll through the flower market and vegetables.
On the road to Kannur (5:30), stop at the town of Bylakuppe, home to the second Tibetan community in India, after Dharamshala. Tibetan lunch. Continued to Kannur and installation on the beautiful beach. Here, your program may be modified according to the schedule of temples in the area, home to fabulous ceremonies theyyam, masked dance spectacular that you attend. The festivities can last late into the night.
