Day wise Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Apt/Lions Rock/Sigiriya, Habarana Or Giritele

    Welcome on the arrival and transfer to Sigiriya or Giritele en route visiting the places of interest such as "brick manufactures", "paddy fields", villages etc.

    Arrive in Sigiriya, visit the famous "Lion Rock" specially this rock monolith is one of the most important land marks in Sri Lanka., you can see well advanced water garden s, elegant damsels etc. This splendid fortress is visited by thousands of tourists everyday and declared as a world heritage site. This visit would definitely give you unforgettable memories of your vacation in Sri Lanka.

    Sigiriya Rock Fortress:

    Sigiriya Rock Fortress - is a world heritage site, built by king Kashyapa (473 - 491 A.D). The "lion rock" is a citadel of unusual beauty rising 200 meters from the scrub jungle. The rock was the innermost stronghold of the 70 hectare fortified town. The base of the rock is ringed by a moat, rampart, and extensive gardens including the renowned water gardens. The world-renowned frescoes of the "heavenly maidens’ of Sigiriya which are in a sheltered pocket of the rock approached by a spiral stairway is one of the main attractions. The frescoes are painted in earth pigments on plaster.
    Arrive in Sigiriya, Habarana or Giritele, welcome and check in at hotel.
    Overnight stay in the hotel.

  • Day 2 : Sigiriya 0R Giritele - Polonnaruwa - Safari - Sigiriya

    Breakfast in the hotel thereafter leave for Polonnaruwa, visit the second capital of theisland and its world famous Buddha statues and many important monuments, interesting sites, museum, scattered ruins etc,

    Polonnaruwa
    Second medieval capital of Sri Lanka after Anuradhapura was ruined, is the best preserved town of the country. It has ancient dagobas, nice parks, moonstones, colossal structures and elegant statues. Polonnaruwa of today remains among the best planned archaeological sites in the country. It testimonies the creativity of the first rulers of the island. The town has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

    Afternoon Safari in Kaudulla or Eco Park, situated in the cultural triangle. The location of these parks are ideal for a visitor because they have very good access and the natural beauty with rich flora and fauna can make happy a visitor . Specially huge manmade lakes situated in the vicinity enrich the value of the parks and its nature., while you enjoy the fascinating scenic beauty of one of these parks you can see suddenly a herd of elephants appearing at your sight, no wonder you can admire them for hours and hours. This protected creature "living jumbo" is one of the most important habitats in this park. Sometime you can see herds comprising 100 to 150 elephants together. Among the other animals, Toque Macaques, Sambars, Deers, leopard and wild boars are recorded but during your limited time visit you have more chance to see Deers, Monkeys, Elephants and a lot of birds. Late in the evening return to hotel.
    Return to hotel for overnight stay.

  • Day 3 : Sigiriya Or Giritele - Dambulla - Matele - Kandy

    Breakfast in the hotel thereafter proceed to Kandy en route visiting Dambulla Rock Temple.

    Dambulla Rock Temple - was built by King Walagambahu in the 1st century B.C. Dambulla Rock Temple is a World Heritage Site and is the most impressive of Sri Lanka’s cave temples. The complex of five caves with over 2000 sq. meters of painted walls and ceilings is the largest area of paintings found in the world. The caves contain over 150 images of the Buddha of which the largest is the colossal figure of the Buddha carved out of rock and spanning 14 meters.

    Before arriving Kandy you can visit a spice garden to learn and identify different kind of spices used in Sri Lanka. Thereafter visit a batik factory to learn it’s unique method which is being disappearing from the island.
    Arrive in Kandy, welcome and check in to the Hotel in Kandy. Relax for sometime and in the evening witness a traditional cultural dance show organized by kandyan artists.
    Overnight stay at hotel.

  • Day 4 : Kandy Temple - Pinnawela - Peradeniya - Kandy

    After breakfast proceed to Dalada Maligawa, the Temple of the Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha where the Sacred Tooth Relic is placed and preserved, visit the temple during the "Pooja Ceremony" (in the morning)

    Dalada Maligawa is undoubtedly the most important and greatest attraction of the city. It is one of the most sacred places for Buddhists who come from all over the world. At 9:30 hrs participate the traditional rituals which is being performed daily by the religious dignitaries of the temple.

    You can visit the ruins of the "Raja Wasala"- the Royal Palace complex where the Council Chamber known as the"Magul Maduwa" is located. This unique wooden pillared hall dating back to 1784, thereafter visit the Devale complexes situated around the temple.

    Excursion to Elephant orphanage in Pinnawela
    Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage - is a home for about 60 elephants (out of which around 50 are baby elephants) found abandoned or orphaned in the wild. They are being cared, fed and trained by the wild life authority. The best time for your visit is at 9 in the morning, when you will have the opportunity of seeing these 'babes' being bottle-fed. You could also see the elephants having their daily baths at a river close by. Returning to Kandy.

    Kandy - The last capital of the Sri Lankan kings is declared as a world heritage site. The name Kandy conjures visions of splendor and magnificence. Many of the legends, traditions and folklore are still lovingly kept alive. Drive around the Kandy lake built by the last Sinhala king Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe in 1806, visit the Kandy town and bazaar, the arts and crafts center and a gem museum and lapidary.

    Visit the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens, first built as a pleasure garden by a Sinhala king and then expanded by the British. It is 147 acres in extent and provides an amazing variety of trees, plants and flowers.

    In the afternoon do a sightseeing and shopping tour in Kandy, during your visit you can enjoy this beautiful city’s panoramic beauty, drive around "upper lake drive", visit "bazaar", "market area", "art & craft center", "gem & jewelry" show room etc.
    Return to hotel for overnight stay.

  • Day 5 : Kandy - Labukelle - Nuwaraeliya

    Breakfast in the hotel thereafter proceed to Nuwaraeliya en-route visiting the places of interest such as " water falls", "tea plantations" and a tea factory in Labukelle . This estate of 543 hectares, over a 100 years old, is situated in the Nuwara Eliya district at an elevation of 1,585 meters above sea level. With a work force of 1,100, it produces average 550,000 kilos of High Grown Tea annually. After the guided tour of the factory, you will be invited for a factory fresh cup of "Ceylon Tea".

    Arrive in Nuwaraeliya, welcome and check in at hotel .In the evening, at leisure at the hotel.

  • Day 6 : Nuwaraeliya - Seethaeliya - Haggala - Nuwaraeliya

    Breakfast in the hotel thereafter you may relax and at a convenient time you can visit "Sita Temple" & "Haggala Garden" (Haggala Garden -payment direct for entrance)
    Nuwara Eliya, which means the "city of lights" is also the city of eternal spring, where the air is pure, cool and distilled up through 1,884 meters; windswept seas lie shrouded in mist, while gaily clad tea pluckers wind their way among tea bushes.
    Haggala Gardens.(payment direct) Haggala Botanical Gardens is located approximately 10 km away from the town of Nuwara Eliya and is home to plants and trees from around the world. The sights and scents of the glorious blooms is an fresh and cool experience in the up country . The fernery is a shady harbor of many quiet walks in the shade of the Haggala Rock. It was once the pleasure garden of King Ravana and according to legends, it was a hideout for Queen Sita from the demon king. Visit the "Sita Temple" situated in the close proximity.
    Gregory's Lake - Make time for an evening stroll on the numerous walking paths around Gregory's Lake, which is located just south of the town. This lake was fashioned under orders of British Governor Sir William Gregory in 1873. Governor Gregory was a keen fisherman at this lake.

  • Day 7 : Nuwaraeliya - Kitulagala - Avissawella Beach

    After breakfast leave for down south beach en route visiting the places of interest such as many tea plantations, beautiful waterfalls named "Saint Clair" & "Devon", where you can stop for a delicious "cup of tea".

    Continue towards the beach through many "Rubber Plantations" and the village where the 07 Acadamy Awarded famous film named "the bridge on the river Kwai" was filmed.

    South-west beach- is situated on the Northern limit of the Southern Province, at the confluence of the sea and the Bentota River, 62 km from Colombo. Its location in the sun drenched southern cost at the mouth of the Bentota River and its picturesque, sandy, palm-fringed beaches which border the warm, sparkling waters of the Indian Ocean made it a natural choice for development as Sri Lanka's first planned tourist resort. Bentota, Beruwela, Hikkaduwa, are having complete range of tourist facilities within the resort complexes including very popular water sports centers.

  • Day 8 : Beach - Colombo - Airport

    After breakfast leave for Airport en route visiting Colombo.

    Colombo
    Colombo - like many capital cities in developing countries Colombo is fast changing its face. Almost overnight, skyscrapers arise from where old buildings once stood, yet in some parts; the old world charm is retained. A 100-year-old clock tower and several British built, colonial buildings are still to be seen in the city. Hindu and Buddhist temples, Mosques, Churches residential areas where you find the stately homes of the affluent, the Bandaranaike memorial international conference hall - an outright gift to Sri Lanka from the people's republic of china Fort, Pettha, Independence Squire, Town Hall are some of the places of interest that one can visit.

    For shopping you can visit, "Lakmedura", "Ceramic Show Room", "Mlesna Tea", "House of Fashion", "Odel", "Arena", "Bare Foot" etc.
