Transfer to the Airport for your flight to Kolkata. On arrival check into your hotel. Sightseeing tour of Kolkata.  Founded by Job Charnock, an employee of the British East India Company, as a trading post away from the dangers of the local Muslim attacks, Kolkata (Calcutta) has been thriving for more than three hundred years and was the British capital until 1911. It has some stunning colonial architecture including the Victoria Memorial, St John's Church and the Howrah Bridge.

    Overnight in Kolkata.

  • Day 2 : Kolkata - Bagdogra - Darjeeling

Fly to Bagdogra. Arrive in Bagdogra and drive to Darjeeling and check into your hotel. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight in Darjeeling.

  • Day 3 : Darjeeling

In 1835, Darjeeling was given to the East India Company by the King of Sikkim. It became a popular resort for the British who wanted to escape from the sweltering heat of the plains. Nestled among the rolling mountains with the glistening Mt. Kanchenjunga towering over the azure sky, Darjeeling retains its old world colonial charm and its reputation for producing the 'champagne of the east', better known as tea.

Before dawn, proceed to Tiger Hill to view a spectacular sunrise over Mt. Kanchenchunga. Return to your hotel for breakfast. Sightseeing at Darjeeling. Visit the Japanese Peace Pagoda which was established by Nipponzan Myohoji, a Japanese Buddhist order. Visit a tea garden for which Darjeeling is renowned the world over. Spend the evening walking down the ‘Chowrasta’, a wide promenade atop a ridge lined with shops and restaurants. Overnight in Darjeeling.

  • Day 4 : Darjeeling - Pemayangtse

Transfer to Ghoom Railway station by heritage toy train. Arrive at Ghoom, a small hilly locality, and visit the Yiga Choeling Monastery. Later, drive to Pemayangtse. Located in the western part of Sikkim, Pemayangtse is a small but important Buddhist pilgrim centre. It is a beautiful place surrounded by natural splendour of Eastern Himalayas with fascinating views of the mighty Kanchenjunga peak that overlooks the town.

Afternoon visit to the Pemayangtse monastery. The monastery houses numerous religious idols and other objects of worship, most of which are precious because of their antiquity. Overnight in Pemayangtse.

  • Day 5 : Pemayangtse - Gangtok

After breakfast drive to Gangtok.  En route visit the Rumtek monastery the largest monastery in the Eastern Himalaya, built by the Gyalwa Karmapa in strict accordance with the traditional designs of the monasteries in Tibet.

On arrival in Gangtok check into your hotel. Rest of the day free at leisure. Overnight in Gangtok.

  • Day 6 : Gangtok

At first glance, Gangtok, Sikkim's bustling capital, is hardly like most Indian cities less noisier and cleaner ,unlike many other hill stations.  A little ways into town, however, the city reflects more of the peace and tranquility you might expect from its picturesque setting in the Himalayan foothills. Today you will be driven 40 kms from Gangtok to visit Tsongo Lake situated at an altitude of 3780 meters. The lake remains frozen throughout the winter up to April end. The Tsongo Lake is considered extremely sacred by the local people.

Later you will proceed further to Nathula pass, at an altitude of 14200ft, on the Indo Chinese border. The pass was traditionally used by merchants of India and Tibet for trading and was part of the famous Silk route connecting plains of Bengal with Tibet. At present the tourists are allowed to get close to the international boarder and the Chinese soldiers can be seen protecting their side of the boarder.

    Overnight in Gangtok.

  • Day 7 : Gangtok - Phuntsholing (Bhutan)

Leave Gangtok for Phuntsholing en route visiting Kalimpong. Arrive at Phuntsholing, the gateway to Bhutan. Overnight in Phuntsholing.

  • Day 8 : Phuntsholing - Thimpu

Morning drive to Thimpu, capital of Bhutan. Though capital of Bhutan, Thimpu is a small and peaceful city, where bells chime and prayer wheels are spun under the glittering golden spires of its memorial chorten. The small shops boast a diversity of traditional goods and the weekend market attracts the local people in a blaze of colourful fruit and fabrics. Overnight in Thimpu.

  • Day 9 : Thimpu - Wangdue Phodrang

Sightseeing tour of Thimpu. Within the walls of the impressive Tashichho Dzong, you can wander through the courtyards to see the temples, sculptures and brightly painted mandalas. The National Library provides insights into this cloistered culture, while a stroll through the hills reaches picturesque monasteries that dot the beautiful landscape.

Afternoon drive for to Wangdue Phodrang. Evening stroll around the town. Overnight in Wangdue Phodrang.

  • Day 10 : Wangdue Phodrang

Morning sightseeing. At the confluence of the Mo and Tang Rivers, the Wangdue Phodrang Dzong rests on the spur of a hill. The name is said to have been given by the Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal who was searching for the best location for a dzong. At the chosen spot the Shabdrung encountered a boy named Wangdi playing beside the river and hence named the dzong "Wangdi's Palace". Built to resemble a sleeping bull, this large dzong is a striking sight and there are excellent views across the valley.

Afternoon proceed on a 3 hrs walk along the river bank which will give you the opportunity to see picture-book villages and craftspeople working with bamboo and slate. Evening at leisure. Overnight in Wangdue Phodrang.

  • Day 11 : Wangdue Phodrang - Paro

Morning drive to Paro. Evening at leisure.  Overnight in Paro.

  • Day 12 : Paro

Day tour of Paro. The town is home to the National Museum, set in an old watchtower that houses a broad collection of handicrafts, armour and paintings. Outside town the landscape is beautiful with streams trickling through the countryside: a perfect walking country. A gentle stroll heads across a wooden bridge across the river to the fortressed monastery of Paro Dzong, while another walk follows the prayer flags through the forest to the Taktsang Monastery, known as the Tiger's Nest, that clings to a rock above the valley. Overnight in Paro.
