Day 1 : Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument
Landing in Glasgow or Edinburgh travel north with a possible stop at Falkirk home of engineering masterpiece the Falkirk Wheel. A short drive away you'll find historic Stirling home of the Wallace Monument erected in dedication to the Great Scottish Hero Braveheart William Wallace. After exploring the cobbled town climb to Stirling Castle which rivals that of Edinburgh for its historic significance and beauty.
Day 2 : The Trossachs National Park and Fort William
Today get your first flavour of Scotland's raw natural beauty, passing firstly through the Trossachs National Park and then the desolate and awe-inspiring Rannoch Moor. A potential stop at the Glencoe visitor centre which marks the place of the infamous clan battle. Reaching the west coast pass in the shadow of Ben Nevis on route to charming port of Fort William overlooking Loch Linhe, time permitting visit the Ben Nevis whisky distillery.
Day 3 : Urquhart Castle, Loch Ness and Inverness
Continue in to the untamed highlands as you pass through the great glen and along the banks of the eerie Loch Ness as you try to spot Nessie. Visit Scottish icon Urquhart Castle on the shores of the Loch and the Loch Ness visitor centre to unravel the mysteries of the Loch before arriving in Inverness, the capital of the highlands, and exploring the Castle and Museum.
Day 4 : Culloden Moor, Blair Castle and Pitlochry
A short drive from Inverness you'll find Culloden Moor and visitor centre, site of the eerie battlefield. Then pass south through Cairngorm National Park and the heart of Scotland; make a visit to the Scotland Self Drive Tour Edinburghstunning Blair Castle before stopping in the charming Victorian town of Pitlochry, home of the Blair Athol whisky distillery. Finally pass over the Forth of Firth in to Edinburgh. Return your vehicle, overnight Edinburgh
Day 5 : The Scottish Capital Edinburgh and Edinburgh Castle
After returning your vehicle, spend the next two days exploring the Scottish capital city on foot. Discover the cobbled old town, and opulent Georgian new town, the queen's residence at the Palace of Holyrood House and the Scottish Parliament building before climbing the Royal Mile to the magnificent Edinburgh Castle.
Day 6 : Return Home
Your tour ends. Make your way to the aiport for your return flight home or onward travel.
