SHORT DESCRIPTION ABOUT WAKATOBI:
Wakatobi is a marine national park in Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia. The islands of Wakatobi is an acronym for main Tukang Besi Islands: Wangi-Wangi, Kaledupa, Tomia and Binongko. Since 2005, the park is listed as a tentative World Heritage Site. Wakatobi is located in Southeast Sulawesi between Banda Sea to the Northeast and Flores Sea to the Southwest. It consists of four larger islands: Wangi-Wangi, Kaledupa, Tomia and Binongko, as well as many small islands such as Tokobao, North Lintea, Kampenaune, Hoga and Tolandono. The highest elevation is 274 metres on Wangi-Wangi, followed by Lagole Hill in Tomia, Terpadu Hill in Binongko and Mount Sampuagiwolo on Kaledupa.
The water depth varies with the deepest part reaching 1044 metres (3425 ft). The Wakatobi National Park is the third largest marine park in Indonesia. Legendary underwater explorer and conservationist, Jaques Cousteau is said to have called the Wakatobi Islands—Then known as the Tukang Besi Islands: an “Underwater Nirwana”. Now a national marine park covering the entire Watatobi District. It comprises 1,4 million hectares of which 900.000 hectares decorated with different colorful species of tropical coral reefs. For Wakatobi is widely recognized as having the highest number of reef and fish species in the world. The islands are also famous as the largest barrier reef in Indonesia, second only to The Great Barrier Reef in Australia. This is the habitat of large and small fish species, the playground of Dolphins, Turtles and even Whales. Wonderful Indonesia “Wakatobi National Marine Park”, the island group comprises 143 larger and smaller islands where only 7 are inhabited counting a total population of around 100.000, while the others remain are uninhabited. Most of notable are the Bajo communities, the seafaring nomads who inhabit many of Indonesia’s remote islands.
Day 1 : Arrival in Makassar / Transfer Hotel (D)
Upon arrival at Hasanuddin Airport Makassar, you will meet with our tour staff. Then we will take you to the center of Makassar. Before check in to the hotel, we will have city tour visiting the Fort Rotterdam, the Old Dutch Fortress and Paotere Anchorage, the traditional Makassar and Buginese Phinisi boat harbor. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel in Makassar.
Day 2 : Transfer Airport / Flight to Kendari (B,L,D)
After breakfast, transfer directly to Hasanuddin Airport for your flight to Kendari, South East Sulawesi. Upon arrival at Haluoleo airport Kendari, you will meet with our tour staff. Then we will take you a half day tour to Moramo waterfall, about 60 kms from the city of Kendari which is located on the Tanjung Peropa National Park. Here you can enjoy the beauty of nature with fresh air, and if we are lucky we can find some endemic fauna of Sulawesi; such as Anoa (the Sulawesian Buffalo) and black macaque. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, drive back to Kendari. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 3 : Flight Kendari to Wakatobi / Wangi-wangi City Tour (B,L,D)
After breakfast, transfer directly to Haluoleo Airport Kendari to catch your flight to Wangi-Wangi, the capital of WAKATOBI. Upon arrival at Matahora Airport Wangi-Wangi, you will meet with our tour staff. Then we will take you to the local restaurant for having lunch. After lunch check in at the resort. Afterwards, we will take you on Wangi-Wangi city tour and enjoying the snorkeling on the beautiful crystal water beach of Wangi-Wangi to see the pristine coral reefs with various bio-diversities. After enough time, back to the resort for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4 : Wangiwangi – Tomia Island (B,L,D)
After breakfast, cross to Tomia Island with regular or charter speed boat. On arrival in Tomia, check in at the resort. Then time to enjoy the snorkeling tour around Tomia Island with spectacular underwater views. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, free at leisure to enjoy the fascinating white sandy beaches. Dinner and overnight stay at the resort in Tomia Island.
Day 5 : Tomia – Kaledupa – Hoga (B,L,D)
Early in the morning, we will take you Kahianga Hilltop to view the beautiful sunrise. Then back to the resort for having breakfast. After breakfast, cross to Kaledupa Island and then continue to Hoga Island. On arrival in Hoga, check in at Hoga Dive Resort. Afterwards, lunch at the local restaurant. In the afternoon, time to have the Hoga Island discovery by swimming, snorkeling or just take relax on the pristine and quite white sandy beaches. Sunset dinner on the Beach of Hoga Island. Overnight stay at the resort in Hoga.
Day 6 : Hoga – Wangiwangi / Flight to Kendari Onwards to Makassar (B,L,D)
Early morning check out from Hoga. Then cross to Wangi-Wangi with transit in Bajo Resort for having breakfast. After breakfast, transfer directly to Matahora Airport to catch your flight Kendari, then continue flight to Makassar. On arrival at Hasanuddin Airport Makassar, you will be picked up by our tour staff. Then transfer directly to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7 : Transfer Airport (B)
After breakfast, transfer directly to Hasanuddin Airport Makassar to catch your flight to your next destination. END OF SERVICES.
