Basilica of Bom Jesus - Try not to give its unassuming air a chance to trick you, the Bom Jesus Basilica is a World Heritage Monument, and has been initiated so by UNESCO. Its un-put outside shows up at first look to be mediocre when contrasted with the shimmering exteriors of houses of worship like the Se Cathedral, yet this little Basilica is wealthy in craftsmanship, engineering and history, and the relics of Saint Francis Xavier are cherished here.
Se Cathderal Church- One of the most ancient and celebrated religious buildings of Goa, which took more than 62 years to complete, is an imposing building, commissioned in 1631. The church is dedicated to St Catherine of Alexandria.
Basilica of Bom Jesus- It is one of the most important attractions of Goa. The Basilica was constructed in 1605 and is world famous for housing the tomb and mortal remains of St Francis Xavier who is considered by Catholics as one of the patron saints of Goa. The basilica is constructed in Portuguese style and the architecture is mesmerizing.
Mangeshi temple- it is a popular temple of Goa and also one of the largest in the state. It is dedicated to Bhagavan Manguesh, an incarnation of Hindu Lord Shiva. Other shrines inside the temple are of Goddess Parvati, Lord Ganesha, Nandikeshvar, Gajana, Gramapurusha Deva Sharma, Bhagvati, Lakshminarayan and others.
Spice plantation- Visit Spice Plantation followed by Goan lunch (Veg and Non-Veg) with a guide for a tour of organically grown spices. The spices grown here are Vanilla, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, and Cardamom, pepper, cloves, chilly curry leaves and ginger. Besides this they also have medicinal plants and fruit-bearing trees. After returning from your spice tour, you can also purchase the spices, cashew nuts and mementoes, all produced at the farm itself.
Panjim Market- Panjim Municipal Market is also known, as ‘Panjim New Market’ is located near Inox Multiplex, off the Campal road, which is a mix of exotic and modern. It is a well-organized market. Right from fancy footwear, spices, handbags, and casual clothes – one can find all products that can be expected in a local market. This is a perfect place to buy fresh fruits and vegetables. Groceries, sweetmeats, Goan sweets, Goan products, meats of all kinds are also available.
Miramar beach- The Miramar beach is a silent spectator to this beautiful union and provides an opportunity for its visitor to enjoy the same. Situated in Panjim, Miramar offers pristine white sandy beaches, beaming sunshine lined with a canopy of palm and coconut trees.
Dona Paula bay- Dona Paula beach is located just about 7-km from Panaji. This place is called the Lovers Paradise in Goa, named after Dona Paula de Menezes. A myth has been attached to this place and according to one legend, the Viceroy's daughter after facing objections from her family about her love affair with a poor fisherman jumped off of the cliff.
The place where two of Goa's famous rivers meet the Arabian Sea is the bay of Dona Paula with a very good view of the Marmagao Harbour. 7-km from Panjim, situated on the south side of the hammer-shaped headland that divides the Zuari and Mandovi, is a fishing village. Jet skiing is a very common sport at this beach.
The beauty of Goa Dona Paula beach has been enhanced by a poky past, which has the tourists thronging to this place. History goes that the beach is named after Dona Paula de Menses, daughter of a viceroy (in colonial India) who threw herself off the cliff when refused permission to marry a local fisherman, Gaspar Dias. The beach has also been the location for many Indian movies. Given this dual attraction, Dona Paula Beach has become popular among the tourist spots in Goa.
Boat Cruise- the perfect end to a day in Goa is by taking a serene sunset river cruises along the Mandovi River. The cruise usually lasts for about one hours and offers pleasing views of Panjim city. A couple of drinks followed by some carnival-like song and dance and delectable dinner ensure complete entertainment throughout the evening. Several boat cruises set off every evening from the Santa Monica Jetty at Panjim, which lies close to Interstate bus stand.
