Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Report at Basecamp in Haripur, Manali - Drive to Kaza | 202 km - 9 hr

  Get dropped at Patlikuhl bus stop, 16 kms before main Manali bus stop. Get picked-up by the team member and report at the base camp in Haripur and meet the team members over refreshments. We will depart at 9:00 am sharp for our off roading trip through the beautiful lush green forest of Marhi and Gulaba and on to Rohtang Pass. The bumpy ride on non-existent roads begins from Gramphoo after we cross Rohtang. We'll take a refreshment break at Gulaba then at Chhatru (estimated time: 4 hour from the start). Next stop Batal, where we'll stop for lunch at the famous ‘chacha-chachi dhabha’. From here we drive to Kunzum La, stop to visit the Kunzum Mata temple and then to Losar, where the stretch of bad roads ends. Arrive in Kaza by evening and check-in at the hotel.

• Day 2 : Kaza - Ki - Kibber - Chicham - Acclimatization

  After a healthy breakfast, we first head to the famous 1000 yr old ‘Ki Monastery’. Soak in the incredible views and go crazy clicking pictures before we move onto the high altitude villages of Kibber and Chicham. We will explore the villages on foot as part of the acclimatization process. Traditional local cuisine will be served for lunch. Later, we had back to Kaza. Explore Kaza before dinner.

• Day 3 : Drive from Kaza to Langza - Trek from Langza to Komic via Hikkim

  Today after early breakfast drive to Langza, another high altitude village. Explore this beautiful village before starting the trek for the day. This place is famous for ‘fossils’ and the huge Buddha statue.
  On our way to Komic, stop at Hikkim to visit the highest post office in the world. Chat with the post master, send a few post cards home before we move on to the destination for the day, Komic, which is the highest village in Asia.
  Visit the monastery, have your lunch, see the sunset and get to know your host in the homestay. Tonight will be your first night in the homestay, and this won’t be easy as some people might face some acclimatization issue. No need to worry keep drinking water and eat properly take rest for the night after an early dinner.

• Day 4 : Trek from Komic to Demul

  Enjoy the sunrise, have your breakfast and start the trek to Demul this morning. You shall have to ascend at the beginning where we touch the highest point of the trek at 4700 meters and then it will be flat till we reach Demul. The day hike will be long and tiring but will have one of the best views to offer which will take your breath away.

• Day 5 : Trek from Demul to Lahlung

  Since this day trek won’t be a very long one so we shall start late after an excellent breakfast and hike down to Lahlung through the farmlands of Demul and Rama village, this day, it will most be downhill except some climbing just before you reach Lahlung. Visit the Sherkhang monastery and listen to the folklore of this monastery through a monk. Meet your host for the day and take rest.

• Day 6 : Lahlung to Kaza via Dhankar and Tabo

  Early morning your transport shall arrive, and we shall head back to Kaza making short visits to Dhankar and Tabo both of which are famous mainly for monasteries. We shall directly lead to Tabo monastery which is also known as the Ajanta of the Himalayas with a 1000 years old monastery. You can also visit the ancient caves that monks have been using from ages to meditate.
  We shall visit Dhankar monastery on our way back which is also 1000 years old on a cliff overlooking the confluence of Spiti and Pin River. There are only a few other monuments which can match the beauty of Dhankar. Visit the monastery here and enjoy a nice cup of tea looking at the monastery. Someone who still has some energy left can hike to Dhankar lake which is 45 mins from Dhankar. Head back to Kaza and relax.

• Day 7 : Kaza to Kunzum Pass in a taxi. Trek from Kunzum Top to Chandratal

  After Breakfast with the local family, we head towards Chandratal Lake, and we shall start the day hike from Kunzum pass. Another location where you will find it hard to stop clicking photographs. This lake is a landscape photographer’s dream come true, changing its appearance almost with every passing hour, each looks as stunning as the other. Tonight we camp in Swiss tents.

• Day 8 : Chandratal to Manali via Rohtang Pass

  We begin our journey to Manali after an early breakfast. We will take a small break at Batal to say goodbye to Chacha and Chachi at Chandra Dhaba. Say goodbye to your guide at Batal as he will take the bus back to Kaza. The aim is to try and cross Rohtang pass by early afternoon so that you reach in time for your evening bus back home.
