Day 1 : Arrival at Manali
Welcome to Manali. As it is said, the party begins at Manali, we gather there with eyes full of dreams. Our team will assist you and your bike to reach the hotel. You will see our faces again in the evening for induction programme where we prepare you for the ‘not for everyone’ trip with a healthy discussion on roadmap and pitfalls. You got to make-up mind for little mishaps – mechanical, physical, & mental breakdowns, skidding, falling down and so on. After feeding our minds, we will feed our tummy at the hotel & go to bed.
Day 2 : Manali to Chandertaal Lake
Post breakfast, we set off on a biking journey to the epic Rohtang Pass, which also leads us to mystic land of Ladakh, Lahaul and Spiti. The trip has begun a chapter, yet, you utter the words ‘I love the mountains and hate them’ at the same time as we ride on the Rohtang pass. While riding from Chatru to Batal, the legend lives inverse of its name ‘Chota Dhara’; you get a tough time crossing it. ‘This is where I die’ thought pops out crossing not so ‘Chota Dhara’. Later, We take the Tal road via Kunzum pass, the road seems soothing to eyes and comforting to the back after the treacherous ride. The rough road is not everyone’s first choice, full of boulders and water crossing; still, you wish the road never to end. At last, we reach the Colour Changing Lake, which sits in the lap of The Himalayas
(14000ft). Sit at the bank and witness an ultimate time lapse of The Moon Lake.
Day 3 : Chandetaal to Kaza
After a belly full of breakfast, we take 8 Km long ‘road of the stones & water’, accompanied by meadows. You ride on the Manali road until Kunzum Pass. Later when the sun sits right on the head, we direct our handlebar towards Kaza. Your eyes and soul enjoy the most scenic drive of entire Spiti Valley between Chandratal and Kaza at a bit easy pace, Spiti river flowing on the left, later jumping to your right. As we reach Kaza, we gear up for the fairy tales in Kaza You get to explore local avenues in the evening – Kaza Monastery, Kye Monastery and Kibber Monastery. Among these, Kibber Monastery, established in the 11th century, has the largest concerning numbers. On the other hand, Kye Monastery offers the breathtaking view of Spiti valley from the aloft rock. We will visit them all & pray well being on the rough roads ahead in the journey. Your
tired shoulders push you to the bed soon after you had your supper.
Day 4 : Kaza- Langza – Hikkim – Komic – Kaza
Today visit the road less travel or offbeat places near Kaza. Drive. The city itself is bliss separated into old and new Kaza by Kaza Nullah. Today we are out to visit some of the less explored locations high on the east side of Spiti Valley. You are very versed with atrocities of the road so no need mentioning them again. The Chau Chau Kang Nilda seems to be close enough to touch at Langza & do not forget to collect sea fossils. Leaving Langza, we reach yet another high altitude village Hikkim, loaded with many ‘highest in the world’ awards. You can see ruins of the Tangyut Monastery destroyed in 1975 earthquake. Finally, we head to the highest motorable village Komic before heading back to our nest in Kaza.
Day 5 : Kaza Tabo
Today after breakfast, we travel our next destination- Taboo. When we start today, you wish to ride slowly to devour the scenery blue Spiti and Snow mountains. Anyway riding slow not an option, you are duly forced by black ice and landslides. We take a detour to Dhankar to witness 1200 years old monastery sitting on a cliff, looking at the confluence of Spiti and Pin river. We head back to Kaza road looking at the mud houses. I know you are an extreme rider & you control your bike like your leg. But, thin black ice can send you a place where there is no turning back.
We reach the freezing land of Tabo in the evening.
Day 6 : Tabo Kalpa
Today we have the toughest ride on a long route. The road conditions may vary a lot as we move further it can be worst at times. But as we know the Himachal has lots in its nature to surprise us with the unforgettable beauty. We’ll see the mountains change from green to craggy brown it makes up for it all. At times it will be gentler then rocky. We also pass through the Nako village; this sleepy
place has a charming lake and a monastery as well.
Day 7 : Kalpa Chitkul
Today, the road captain and the engines will take us to the last Indian village. The road leading to such exotic destination is as tricky as it picturised on Discovery Channel as the deadliest roads in the world. At times, you will feel as if the sky is falling as you ride on the edge of the mountain covered by the natural roof. You have to be there to experience the mountain roof en route. It is indefinable by words. Beyond this scariest road, finally, the rural roads will lead you to the valley surrounded by the
Himalayas. Take a nice nap under the stars after dinner.
Day 8 : Chitkul Shimla
Today we head for Shimla, leaving the heavenly and peaceful place Kalpa. The drive from Kalpa to Shimla is 8 hrs, the roads are relatively in a good condition but being the hilly area we need to be careful with the blind twist and turns in the region. Finally enjoying the ride in the lap of nature we reach Shimla. Shimla is very popular and famous destination in Himachal, well known for honeymoon lovers. Like Kalpa, Shimla is also known for its apples. Reach hotel settle down for leisure. Overnight Shimla in Hotel.
Day 9 : Shimla to Home town
After breakfast, we meet again to say bid farewell to each other & cheers the
moments of togetherness. Here onwards we leave for our lives and cities.
We will keep in touch. Bye Bye. Julley
