Day 1 : Arrival in Kolkata
You will arrive in the fascinating city of Kolkata the next day. You are greeted by a local staff and escorted to the hotel. After check-in you can relax and acclimatize to the long journey. In the afternoon you make strengthened on a sightseeing tour of Kolkata. welcome in Kolkata in 2001, renamed Calcutta is the capital of West Bengal and the second largest city of India. Kolkata was once an insignificant little port town that had its heyday in the 18th century, after which it was founded in 1698 as a trading post of the East India Company and thus became one of the most important commercial cities of Asia. Kolkata is one of the most fascinating cities in the world and perhaps the - only functioning chaos of the world - ox carts, old Rolls-Royce and modern vehicles, double decker buses and trams shape next to the bustle of the people the streets. The city enjoys an incredible reputation as a metropolis of intellectuals and is considered a noble and cultured. Despite their slums, it is a bustling city with an incredibly diverse and vibrant cultural scene. To which it is a veritable treasure trove of colonial architecture.The unique atmosphere and the friendliness and helpfulness of the Bengalis make Kolkata a special experience.
Maidan
In the heart of the city spans the Maidan park, as a huge green lung of the city. Here it attracts the inhabitants to escape the ubiquitous hassle and find recovery. Victoria Memorial at the southern end of the Maidan park is the landmark of Kolkata, the Victorial Memorial. It is a huge building with wonderfully proportioned white marble domes, a mixture of the Capitol in Washington and the Taj Mahal. Botanical Garden Here is next to a cactus house and various palm trees and the highlight, a 250 year old Banyanfeige that as the largest tree of its Art Worldwide applies. Kali temple you also visit the shrine of the patron deity of Kolkata, the Kali temple. It houses a statue of the goddess, with a bloody tongue out and a chain of skulls around her neck.
Day 2 : Transfer to domestic airport for flight to Bagdogra
You come at lunchtime in Bagdogra and drive to the 90 km distant provincial town of Darjeeling. In the evening you reach the small town and check in there for three nights at the hotel.
Day 3 : Visit Darjeeling
Excursion to Tiger Hill
Today it means getting up early if you want to get a magnificent Himalayan panorama. Before sunrise, take a trip to the viewpoint Tiger Hill (2,590 m). On a clear day you can see here a spectacular sunrise, when the summit of the third highest mountain in the world, the Kanchenjunga (8,598 m) or 200 km distant Mount Everest (8,872 m) are wrapped in soft morning light. Yiga Choling Monastery on the way back visit the Gelugpakloster in Ghoom. It was founded in 1850 by a Mongolian monk in transit and is the only old Yellow Hat monastery. In the building of a 5 m high statue of Maitreya Buddha are housed (Buddha of the future) and 300 bound Tibetan books. After breakfast, a tour is on the program. In the center of the small town there is a shopping street which is lined with souvenir shops. Afterwards, take a walk from the Chowrasta square up to Observatory Hill, a place of pilgrimage for Buddhists and Hindus. You go on, past buildings from the colonial period, the Mountaineers Museum which is connected to the Darjeeling zoo. Here you will marvel at equipment that were used for the first ascent of Mount Everest.
Day 4 : Toy Train
The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, which is also affectionately known as Toy Train, was built by the British colonial government and made her first trip in September 1881. It has long been the main mode of transport to Darjeeling. On an only 60 cm wide track, the wheezing old steam train winds its way through an adventurous tea plantations up into the mountains. It overcomes to 86 kilometers an altitude of over 2,000 m, the trip takes 6 hours.Enjoy a little excursion through the spectacular scenery with its various vegetations. tea plantations , visit a tea plantation and get insights into the world of tea - from growth, hand-picked tea leaf, to processing and finally to drink. Day 5 : Pemyangste
You leave the tea paradise Darjeeling and make their way to Pemyangtse. Visit the high overhead on a ridge, impressive monastery Pemyangtse from the year 1705. It is considered the most important monastery of the Nyingmapa Order and one of the oldest Buddhist centers of Sikkim. It houses beautiful art objects and extraordinary murals.
Upon arrival and check-in at the hotel, the rest of day. Explore the area with a relaxing walk and enjoy the magnificent view of the Kanchenjunga.
Day 6 : Gangtok
You leave the tea paradise Darjeeling and make their way to Pemyangtse. Visit the high overhead on a ridge, impressive monastery Pemyangtse from the year 1705. Day 7 : Rumtek Monastery
Across from Gangtok on the other side of a wide, green valley is the famous Rumtek monastery. It was founded in 1740 and belongs to the Kagyupa medals on. The monastery was rebuilt as a copy of the Tibetan monastery Tsrupuhu. Red columns support the roof of the prayer hall, decorated with magnificent thangkas and wonderful murals. monastery Phodong Past the Tashi View Point takes you to the monastery Phodong, one of the most important monasteries in the country. Alone because of its wonderful views is the monastery worth a visit - even the drive past large prayer wheels is a very special experience. From here you have a magnificent view of the Kanchenjunga.
Day 8 : Kalimpong
Sikkim leave and make their way in the pretty little town of Kalimpong. The place is characterized by its mild climate and is known for its nurseries and beautiful flowers. During the heyday of the entire valley is sinking in magnificent colors. Every Wednesday and Saturday pour the inhabitants of the surrounding villages in the busy market town to sell their goods. Are located in the surrounding area three monasteries that you can admire for a city tour. Day 9 : Bagdogra - Kolkata
After breakfast you will be transferred to the domestic airport of Bagdogra. In the afternoon you will arrive in Kolkata and to be taken by an employee in receipt. You then have up to your departure, nor the possibility to dinner. Namaste India with fascinating memories as it is now called to say goodbye. You will be driven to the International Airport of Kolkata to compete for your journey home.
