Day 1 : Negombo (Travel time about 20min; 10Km; meal-on board)
Arrival in the midnight at the airport you will be greeted by your tour guide who will take care of you until completion of your Sri Lanka tour. There after you will be transferred to negombo
Negombo situated by the shores of a lagoon by the same name once has been a trading port for Portuguese and Dutch and is a ideal place for those who want quick access to and from the airport. Attractions in the city are the old Dutch fort gate built in 1672 now a part of the prison, the Dutch Canal which was then a supply route to the Dutch administration, old churches and fishing villagers. The 100 km long canal running through the town is still being used and is an attraction for those who want to see the country from a different perspective. Once at the comforts of your hotel, relax and recover from any jet lag.
Day 2 : Negombo to Pinnawala - Kandy (Travel time is 4h: 120Km
After breakfast proceed to Kandy via visiting Pinnawala elephant orphanage. Elephants are magnificent land animals,with a thick skin and a curved trunk. Watching these gigantic wild, semi wild mammals is a lifetime experience. But to those who want to see the tamed and semi wiled elephants in close proximity the best place is the "Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage".
It is located northwest of Kegalle town along the Colombo ~ Kandy main road. The orphanage is in a twenty five acre coconut land near Maha Oya. The wide area of shallow water and the huge rocks of Maha Oya make the ideal place to these magnificent animals.
Later continute to kandy once in Mawanella you will be visited Spice Gardento see many different types of spices Sri Lanka is famous for. You will be introduced to different spices and shown how some of these spices are grown and processed. Visitors may buy spices, traditional remedies and cosmetics, taste an herbal brew and in some venues, enjoy the full flavors of Sri Lankan spices over lunch or an Ayurveda massage based on natural products from the garden. Witness a Cookery Demonstration conducted by the Spice Garden Staff
In the afternoon you will arrive in spiritual Kandy, surrounded by greenery and the great Mahaweli River. Kandy is also well known as the centre of Buddhism, at your convenience, become acquainted with the city of Kandy. Evening witness a cultural Dance performance & amazing Fire eating (5.30 pm to 6.30 pm). Later transfer to your lovely hotel. Overnight in Kandy
Day 3 : Kandy
After breakfast attend puja (chanting) morning ceremony at the"Dalada Maligawa' where the Sacred Tooth Relic of Buddha is placed and preserved is undoubtedly the greatest attraction o the city. It is one of the most sacred places for Buddhists all over the world. Walk to the Royal Palace complex Raja Wasala, council chamber known as "Magul Maduwa" an unique wooden pillared hall dated from 1784 and Devale complex.
Next visit Royal botanical garden at Peradeniya. Royal botanical gardens are beautiful gardens situated in the serene Hill capital, Kandy. Located 4 miles off Kandy, the garden dates back to the reign of King Vikrama Bahu III, 14th century. Peradeniya is home to a large variety of ornamental plants and other creepers that are used to produce the special spices of Sri Lanka. There is a flourishing growth of huge tropical trees along the lawns. But the orchid house is the prime attraction of this garden. Tourists will find more than 300 varieties of exquisite orchids blooming in profusion. The spice garden sustains trees and plants used for the traditional Ayurvedic medicine. The scenic splendor of the garden rose to ethereal heights by the Mahaweli River which flows through its fringes.
Later you will visit gem museum & lapidary, world famous for its Ceylon blue sapphire and handicraft centre & batik factory –truly design quality with hand made. Evening you will have free time. Overnight in Kandy.
Day 4 : Nuwara Eliya (Travel time: 3 hrs; 75Km
After breakfast check out from the hotel & proceed Nuwara eliya. Enjoy the picturesque journey through mountains, magnificent water falls & Sri Lanka's tea growing centre. A short glance on the City of Nuwara Eliya.
Nuwara Eliya is a mountain station at 1,868 m (6,128 ft) of altitude, in a splendid landscape. The city pretends to be particularly well-kept and neat, and the always green grass gives to the locality an aspect of "colonial British style". Nuwara Eliya was built entirely during the 19th century and its architecture mimics that of an English country town, with red-brick walls, country house like hill club and mock-Tudor half-timbering.
One the way you will be stop to vist to tea factory & plantation and you will be introduced the total making procedure of ceylon tea. Great chance to taste of hot pure cup of Ceylon tea with unforgettable experience.
Once in Nuwara Eliya check in to your lovely hotel on time & get some rest. In the evening engage in city tour of Nuwara Eliya and you will have the opportunity spend time walking around beautiful city lake till late evening. Later transfer to your hotel. Overnight in Nuwara Eliya.
Day 5 : Nuwara Eliya - Airport (5 hrs; 160km
As all good things must come to an end. After breakfast check out on time. Your tour guide will comfortably take you back to the international airport for a safe return journey.
