Day 1 : Arrive Christchurch
on arrival in Christchurch, 'The Garden City', you will be welcomed and your Vacation begins.
Day 2 : Christchurch - Glacier Region (B)
Depart Christchurch on the world famous Tranz Alpine train (coach passengers only) and travel beside the Waimakariri River, over the Southern Alps and onto the alpine village of Arthur's Pass before arriving on Greymouth. Travel along the rugged West Coast to arrive at the glacier region of Franz Josef & Fox Glaciers.
Day 3 : Glacier Region - Queenstown (B)
Travel down the West Coast past spectacular mountain ranges, native forests and lakes to the Haast Pass. Follow the shores of Lakes Hawea and Wanaka to the resort city of Queenstown.
Day 4 : Queenstown (B)
An opportunity today to explore the endless optional attractions available. Queenstown offers bungee jumping, jet boating, white water rafting, gondola rides and much more. Optional activities not included in the tour price.
Day 5 : Queenstown - Dunedin (B)
Follow the southern arm of Lake Wakatipu to Lumsden, and onward to Lake Te Anau. Cross the fertile Southland Plains through Gore and Balclutha to South Otago.Then travel north to the 'Edinburgh of the South', Dunedin. The afternoon is free for optional activities. Optional activities not included in the tour price.
Day 6 : Dunedin - Christchurch (B)
Travel north to reach Moeraki, famous for the fascinating Moeraki Boulders (Maori legend describes them as the food baskets of the gods). Continue north through lush farmland and a series of small farming communities to Christchurch.
Day 7 : Christchurch - Wellington (B)
Travel through North Canterbury before turning towards the coast to Kaikoura and onto Blenheim before arriving in Picton. Transfer to the Interisland ferry terminal for your journey across Cook Strait, the stretch of water that separates the North and South Islands of New Zealand. Also view the Marlborough Sounds with its sparkling clear waters and lush forests before arriving in Wellington.
Day 8 : Wellington - Napier (B)
Travel north onto Palmerton North, famous for its agricultural university. Cross the Takapau Plains and travel through the Manawatu Gorge onto Napier.
Day 9 : Napier - Rotorua (B)
Today north to arrive at New Zealand's largest lake, Lake Taupo. Continue north via Wairakei Geothermal area to reach the 'Thermal City' of Rotorua. This afternoon visit Whakarewarewa Thermal Reserve to see boiling mud pools and roaring geysers. Following this see bird life, trout and other wildlife before viewing a New Zealand farm show featuring sheep dog demonstrations, cow milking and an introduction to the stars of our sheep industry. This afternoon is at leisure.
Day 10 : Rotorua - Waitomo - Auckland (B)
Travel over the forested Mamaku Ranges to Waitomo for a guided tour of the world famous Waitomo Glowworm caves. View the millions of glowworms on the cavern roof before continuing through the fertile Waikato area to Auckland.
Day 11 : Departure Day (B)
Your arrangements conclude today.
