Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : ARRIVE CHENNAI

  On arrival at Chennai, you are transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon, visit Gandhi Memorial, Kala Kshetra, Mylapore temple and Marina beach. Return to your hotel for dinner. Overnight is at Chennai.

• Day 2 : CHENNAI - TIRUPATHI

  After breakfast, leave for Tirupathi to visit the famous temple of Lord Venkateshwara, which is situated on top of the Tirumala hills. This temple is believed to be the oldest temple in the country and is also the richest temple. Have lunch at a local restaurant in Tirupathi before returning to Chennai in the evening for dinner. Overnight is at Chennai.
• Day 3 : CHENNAI - KANCHIPURAM - MAMALLAPOORAM

  After breakfast, drive to Kanchipuram. This city was the ancient capital of the Pallavas and was known for its 1000 temples, many of them are still used to this day. The most famous being the Sri Kamakshi temple. The city is today well known for the silks it produces. Have lunch at a local restaurant and then continue driving to Mamallapooram and check in to your hotel. In the afternoon, visit Mamallapooram earlier known as Mahabalipooram. This city was a port during the Pallava period and has some of the most beautiful rock cut temples in South India. It also is home to the famous Shore Temple that is unique because Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu are housed in the same sanctum sanctorum. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
• Day 4 : PONDICHERRY

  In the morning, after breakfast, visit Aurobindo Ashram, which is 10kms north of Pondicherrry. After lunch at the hotel visit Auroville, an interesting experiment where people from various nationalities live together in harmony. You have dinner at your hotel. Overnight is in Pondicherry.
• Day 5 : PONDICHERRY - CHIDAMBARAM - TANJORE

  After breakfast, drive to Chidambaram to visit the famous Nataraja Temple. The roof of the sanctum sanctorum is gold plated and Lord Shiva is depicted as the cosmic dancer-Nataraja. After lunch at a local restaurant, drive to Tanjavur or Tanjore. Tanjore was the capital of the Chola dynasty and home to the famous Brahadeswara Temple. En route, you visit a Brass factory at Kumbakonam. Â Upo arrival in Tanjore, check into your hotel and dig into your dinner. Overnight is in Tanjore.
• Day 6 : TANJORE - TRICHY

  After breakfast, leave for Trichurapalli or Trichy. Located on the banks of the River Kaveri, it is famous for the Ranganath temple at Srirangam. On arrival, check in at the hotel and have lunch.Later visit the Rock Fort Temple, Srirangam and Jambukeshwar Temple. Return to your hotel for dinner. Overnight is in Trichurapalli.
• Day 7 : TRICHY - MADURAI

  After breakfast, check out and travel to Madurai, famous for its Meenakshi temple. Â Upon arrival, check into your hotel. After lunch, visit the Meenakshi temple, King Tirumala's Palace, Great Tank and Gandhi museum. Return to your hotel for dinner. Overnight is in Madurai.

• Day 8 : MADURAI - RAMESHWARAM - MADURAI

  After breakfast, drive to Rameshwaram, the most sacred temple town in India. It is actually an island. Legend has it that Lord Rama along with Sita offered prayer to Lord Shiva after defeating Ravana, by praying to a sand Lingam made by Sita on this island. At this very spot is located the Ramanatha Swamy Temple. Have lunch at a local restaurant., before returning to Madurai for dinner. Overnight is in Madurai.
• Day 9 : MADURAI - KANYAKUMARI

  After breakfast, drive to Kanyakumari , land’s end of India where the water of the Arabian Sea , the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean meet. An important pilgrim centre of India, it is famous for the Amman Temples - a symbol of unity and sanctity - dedicated to the virgin Goddess, Kanya Kumari. To its South - East lies the famous Vivekananda Rock Memorial, dedicated to Swami Vivekananda, who meditated on this very rock before he proceeded to West to propagate Hinduism. Also, visit a recently erected memorial of Thiruvalluvar, a Tamil saint who had written the Thirukkural, containing 1330 verses for a better living for every human. In the evening, see the sun set at the southernmost tip of India. Overnight is at Kanyakumari.
• Day 10 : Kanyakumari - Kovalam

  Start your day early and take in the beautiful sunrise from the terrace of your hotel. Later, visit Suchindram and proceed to Trivandrum. En route, stop at Padmanabapuram Palace & temple. Arrive in Kovalam and check into your hotel. Overnight is in Kovalam.

• Day 11 : KOVALAM

  After breakfast, drive to the Trivandrum airport to board the flight for onward journey.
