Day wise Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Guwahati - Tezpur

    Upon arrival you will be received and taken to the hotel. Transfer to Tezpur.
    Tezpur is an ancient city on the banks of the river Brahmaputra and is the largest of the north bank towns with a population exceeding 100,000. It is situated 175 kilometres (109 mi) north east of Guwahati. Second largest city of Assam. Its Nick Name is "Cultural Capital of Assam".
    Afternoon proceed for the local sightseeing of Tezpur which includes as follows.
    Agnigarh: Agnigarh is one of the most important tourist destinations of Tezpur. A circular stairway leads to the peak of the hill and offers a good trekking option. In fact, people often come here for picnic or simply to enjoy the scenes and sights. There is a very famous legendary story behind this place. This renowned mythological place is connected with the romance of Prince Aniruddha and Princess Usha. Aniruddha was the grandson of Lord Krishna, whereas Usha was the daughter of Banasura, the famous Asura king and prime devotee of Lord Shiva. It is believed that Agnigarh is the very place where a fortress was built by the Asura king, to keep his daughter in isolation.
    Chetralekha Udyan: Cole Park, Tezpur is a very picturesque park near the centre of Tezpur. It has recently been renamed as Chitralekha Udyan although both names are synonymous. It has had a long tradition of hosting painting/drawing competitions for the nearby schools due the various features it possesses.
    The famous Bhomoraguri inscription which recorded the ancient plans to build a bridge across the Brahmaputra where the current Kolia Bhomora Setu exists has been transported to this park for public viewing.
    Overnight stay in Tezpur.

  • Day 2 : Tezpur - Dirang

    Start early in the morning for Dirang. On the way visit Tippi On the banks of the river Bharali at an elevation of 190 mtrs is Tipi, an orchidarium with over 7500 orchids. On display are some of the finest species with names like the Dainty Lady's Slipper or the more formal sounding Dendrobium. Arunachal has the largest range of orchids in the country. Continue your drive and do not forget to keep your cameras handy as you cross beautiful waterfalls and get some spectacular views. Arrive Dirang and Check in to your hotel.
    Dirang, a sub-divisional headquarters in the West Kameng District, is known for its hot water springs, sheep rearing farms and apple orchards. The hot water springs are considered holy by some who travel to them for a dip. The Buddhist Kalachakra Gompa is nearby.
    After lunch visit the regional apple Nursery, kiwi farm, dzong (fort), hot water spring.
    Overnight stay in Dirang.

  • Day 3 : Dirang - Tawang

    After breakfast transfer to Tawang.
    The district of Tawang, in Arunachal Pradesh is the land of the Monpa tribe and is a rather unusual hill station that packs in adventure options for the outdoor buff. It is a major centre for the Mahayana Buddhist sect. Tawang is located at a height of 12,000 ft. above the sea level and shares its border with Tibet and Bhutan. There are a number of high altitude lakes in Tawang but not all of them are accessible. The army has a strong presence in Tawang and it restricts movements in certain areas but that is because the district shares a highly sensitive border with China. The Himalayas tower over this picturesque hills station, puncturing the impossibly blue sky with their snowy hills and peaks. Tourism in Tawang is best suited for people looking for adventure as it has interesting trekking trails for hikers and outdoor enthusiasts.
    On the way visit war cemetery. Continue with the drive till you reach Sela Pass at an altitude of 4114m / 13494 ft. It is famous for high altitude lakes & scenic beauty & is ideal for ice skating during winter. Check in the hotel on arrival.

  • Day 4 : Tawang

    After breakfast proceed for local sightseeing which includes as follows.
    Tawang Monstery: Tawang Monastery in Arunachal Pradesh is the largest monastery in India. It was founded near the small town of the same name in the northwestern part of Arunachal Pradesh state of India by Merak Lama Lodre Gyatso in 1680-1681[1] in accordance with the wishes of the 5th Dalai Lama. The monastery belongs to the Gelugpa school and has a religious association with Drepung Monastery in Lhasa, which continued during the period of British rule. It is very close to the Tibetan border, in the valley of the Tawang-chu which flows down from Tibet. The monastery is three stories high and occupies an area of 140 m². It is enclosed by a 610 m long compound wall. Within the complex there are 65 residential buildings and 10 other structures
    Namgyal Lhatse: The spiritual center of the universe for the Monpas is the Tawang Galden Namgyal Lhatse, also know as Tawang Monastery. The monastery was founded Mera Lama, the contemporary of the fifth Lama.
    About forty years of construction work, starting from the 1640s, was needed to complete the structure. After three centuries of peace, this monastery was badly damaged by the Chinese invasion of 1962, with priceless murals and Tankhas (also spelt as Thankas or Thangkas) being destroyed. Reconstruction work still continues in parts of the monastery. There are two major religious festivals of the Monpas viz "Dungyur and Torgya" festivals, celebrated at the premises of the Tawang Monastery with traditional gaiety and enthusiasm.

    PT Tso: Located around 23 km away from Tawang town, this beautiful lake is one of picturesque tourist spots of the region. The lake is known for its indescribable serenity. An ideal place for picnicking one is sure to enjoy the splendid view of the lake and its beautiful surrounding.

    Gorsham Chorten: Gorsam Chorten near the village of Zemithang is the largest Stupa of the area with the height of about 100ft (like a 10 storied building). It lies in the valley floor, on the bank of Namjang Chu river. There is no written history and no one knows the date when it was exactly built. Early 18th century is one widely held guess through legends stretch its antiquity by another 400 years. Local legend has it that Lama Sangye Pradhar (Monpa), who supposedly built Gorsam Chorten, travelled to Kathmandu and carved a miniature model of the shrine using radish. Indeed the chorten is a virtual replica of the Nepalese landmark: its giant hemispherical dome, crowned by a pyramidal head, resting on a square three-tiered base, with fur enormous eyes of the "all seeing Buddha", painted on the pyramidal crown just as in Boudanath, with small stupas on the plinth’s four corners. It is said to have taken 13 years to build the chorten.
    Singar Ani Gompa: This Gompa is one beautiful nunneries of Tawang district. It is located at a distance of about 28 km west from the Tawang district Headquarters towards the Geshila road in Arunachal Pradesh. It houses around 30 'Anis' or Nuns. The new Singsur Ani Gompa was built by the previous Rev. Gonpatse Rimpoche in 1960. The old Singsur Ani Gompa is also in existence and is located amidst the 'Shaa' (huts) of the Anies.
    Evening return back to hotel.
    Overnight stay in Tawang.

  • Day 5 : Tawang - Bomdila

    After Breakfast transfer to Bomdila.
    Bomdila is a small town located in the West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh. Located at an altitude of about 2217 metres above sea level, Bomdila is renowned for its Buddhist monasteries and apple orchards.
    Check in the hotel on arrival. After lunch proceed for local sightseeing which includes as follows.
    Gontse Rabgyaling Monastery (Upper Gonpa): Upper Gompa, also renowned as the Gentse Gaden Rabgyel Ling Monastery, is located on a steep hill. This gompa houses a school for monk kids, a prayer hall and a temple of Lord Buddha. In addition, this gompa entices several tourists every year because it portrays various shades of life and traditions of Buddhism.
    Thub-Chog Gatsel Ling Monastery (Lower Gonpa): Lower Gompa, based at the end of Bazaar Street, is situated in the middle of the town. Tourists visiting the lower gompa can see beautiful Tibetan architecture and huge prayer hall located inside this gompa.
    Bomdila View Point: Bomdila View Point provides magnanimous view of entire West Kameng Valley. From the highest point of this place, tourists can also enjoy beautiful views of clouds congregated at the top of the Nechipu Pass.
    Evening you can visit the local market.
    Overnight stay in Bomdila.

  • Day 6 : Bomdila - Guwahati

    After Breakfast transfer to Guwahati.
    Gauhati or Guwahati, the erstwhile capital of the state of Assam was earlier known as "Pragiyotishpura" (The Light of East). This city with a varied history dating back to the 6th century is also the most developed and important city of Assam.

    Arrive and check in at hotel. Evening visit 'Kalakshetra', (optional) a place where Assamese history and culture is presented through Light and sound show or take an evening cruise on the mighty river Brahmaputra. Return to hotel. Overnight stay at hotel

  • Day 7 : Guwahati – Onward Journey

    After breakfast check out from hotel visit Kamakhya Temple and with everlasting memories transfer to Guwahati airport/railway station for onward journey.
