Day 1 : Delhi
Arrive in the city of Delhi, the national capital and a fantastic base to start off your temple tour in India. On the 1st day of your arrival in the city, you will be escorted till the hotel by our representative where you will check in and retire for the day. Rest your weary souls and prepare yourself to embark on the temple tours of the region that is waiting to begin the following morning.
Day 2 : Delhi
On day 2, start off the trail by visiting the temples located in Delhi including the Chattarpur temple, the Lakshmi Narayan temple also known as the Birla Mandir, and the remaining attractions that belong to the heritage genres. This list includes a visit to the monuments like the Red Fort, the Humayun’s Tomb, the Qutab Minar, and the India Gate.
Day 3 : Delhi - Mathura - Vrindavan - Agra
From Delhi, travel down to Mathura that is located at a distance of about 160 km. Mathura is the birthplace of Lord Shri Krishna and therefore this place is held in very high regard by the Hindus. Every year during Janmasthami, the festival celebrated to mark the occasion of birth of lord Krishna, thousands of devotees flock to this quaint town. The prime attractions in this city are the Krishnajanmabhoomi, the Dwarkadheesh temple, and the Kans Qila.
Replete with hundreds of temples dedicated to the Lord, Mathura is just about 20 km from Vrindavan, another holy city for the Hindus. From Mathura, you will head towards Vrindavan, the place where Lord Krishna spent his childhood. Vrindavan is also one of the most popular destinations for guests on pilgrimage and spiritual tours in India. Temples of Krishna and Radha dot the city across all its corners. The topmost attractions in Vrindavan are the Madan Mohan temple, the Banke Bihari temple, the Radha Damodar temple, and the Govindaji temple.
Post your visit through Mathura and Vrindavan you will continue your travel till you reach Agra, located at a distance of about 70 km from here. On arriving in the city you will head straight to the hotel that has been pre-arranged for you and retire for the day.
Day 4 : Agra - Varanasi
On the 4th day of the tour, leave Agra for Varanasi by the direct night train to the city. However, throughout the day you can explore the heritage of Agra. Visiting the monuments of Agra will be a refreshing break from the temple tour and prolong the surprises that wait to amaze you in the next leg of the journey. The attractions that you will visit in Agra include the Taj Mahal, the Agra Fort, and the Fatehpur Sikri.
Day 5 : Agra - Varanasi
Early morning on the 5th day you will reach Varanasi. Our representative will escort you till the hotel where you can check in and freshen yourself up. Post a brief halt, you can embark on city tours across Varanasi. Known as Kashi, the city houses a number of temples and bathing shores ‘ghats’ on the Ganges. Whether you travel down to Sarnath, located a few km from here, or head towards the ghats for the evening Aarti; the choice ultimately is yours.
Day 6 : Varanasi - Allahabad
On the 6th day of the tour, you will leave Varanasi for Allahabad but not before exploring the sights and sounds of the city. And what could be better than a boat ride along the shores that are already full with pilgrims, devotees and general tourists?
By afternoon you will arrive in Allahabad that is mostly known for housing the ‘Triveni Sangam’ - the confluence of the 3 rivers Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati.
Day 7 : Allahabad - Varanasi - Khajuraho
On the 7th day, you will travel back to Varanasi by road and straight away head towards the airport. From here you will travel to Khajuraho by air. This marks your entry into the central India realm.
Khajuraho is most famous for its erotic sculptures. The figurines that adorn the walls of the temples in this sleepy town, look real, enough to hypnotize one into talking to them! A guided tour through this city will give you a glimpse of the heritage and history of the place.
Overnight stay in the city.
Day 8 : Khajuraho - Orchha
Spend the morning of the 8th day exploring the charisma of Khajuraho and by afternoon drive down to Orchha the medieval city housed in central India. Located on the banks of the river Betwa, Orchha houses a number of temples including the Chaturbhuj temple, the Lakshmi Narayan temple, and a number of Cenotaphs 'chattris'.
Day 9 : Orchha - Jhansi - Bhopal
On the 9th day of the tour you will travel from Orchha to Jhansi located about 15 km from here to board the train to Bhopal, the capital city of Madhya Pradesh. Bhopal is the next destination in this circuit and a wonderful base for travelers traveling to the distinct destinations as part of your Madhya Pradesh tours. On arrival in the city, you can check into the hotel and then embark on city tours around Bhopal. The list of attractions here includes the Lakshmi Narayan temple also known as the Birla Mandir, the Taj-ul-Masjid and the Moti Masjid.
Day 10 : Bhopal - Ujjain
From Bhopal you will embark on a journey to the next destination, Ujjain, which is located at a distance of about 200 km. Ujjain is fondly frequented by devotees for the Kumbh Mela that is celebrated once in every twelve years and the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga temple. The latter houses one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of lord Shiva and therefore held in very high esteem by the Hindu devotees.
Day 11 : Ujjain - Mandu - Indore
To revisit the legends of the poet prince Baz Bahadur and his consort Rani Roopmati, travel down to Mandu from Ujjain. Besides the fortified ruins of the grand fortress, also visit the Sheesh Mahal, a revered site for the Jain pilgrims. The hilly terrains of this place still resound with the ancient tales and after your rendezvous with the sagas, continue your trail till you reach Indore.
Overnight stay in Indore.
Day 12 : Indore - Omkareshwar - Indore
Indore is a splendid base for travelers on temples of the north and central India tours traveling to Omkareshwar. Housing one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of lord Shiva, Omkareshwar is also visited by devotees who want to take a holy dip at the confluence of 2 rivers - Narmada and Kaveri.
In the evening you will travel back to Indore for an overnight stay.
Day 13 : Indore - Delhi - Rishikesh
On the thirteenth day of the tour, travel back to Delhi (by air) to embark on tours to the final destination in the circuit - Rishikesh (by train). To reach Rishikesh, you will first arrive in Haridwar, a holy place for Hindu devotees. Visiting the temples in Haridwar and a holy dip in the waters of the river Ganga will more than enhance the pleasures of the temple tours. One must visit destination in this quaint town is the Har -ki -Paudi.
Continue your sojourn till Rishikesh located just 25 km away from here.
Day 14 : Indore - Delhi - Rishikesh
On the fourteenth day, explore the beauty of Rishikesh right from dawn. Arrive in the river banks of the Ganga for a morning prayer and the elaborate Aarti. Throughout the day you can visit the attractions located here including the Swarg Ashram, the Lakshman Jhula, Ram Jhula, and the Triveni Ghat.
Day 15 : Rishikesh - Delhi
The fifteenth day marks the end of the temples of north and central India tour. Early morning you will travel down till Haridwar to catch the direct rail to Delhi. Before leaving for the airport for your onward journey back home, you can spend the day shopping in the major markets of Delhi including the Janpath, the Palika Bazar, and the Connaught Place.
