Day 1 : Glastonbury Abbey and the Tiverton Canal
This morning meet your driver-guide in central London and board the mini-coach for your journey away from the big city and in to rural England. On route to the South West we stop in the charming town of Glastonbury, the spiritual capital of England, shrouded in myth and Arthurian legend; here we'll take time to visit the majestic Glastonbury Abbey. Passing in to Devon we make our way to the Tiverton Canal a living heritage site where horse-drawn barges still cruise the historic waterway. By evening we reach our accommodation and base for the next three nights, near the Cornish village of St Agnes. Tonight, we come together and share our first meal and get to know each other.
Day 2 : Cornish Cider, Pasties and Coastal Boat Trip
This morning we head in to the Cornish countryside and to a traditional and authentic cider farm where we can wander through the Orchards and grounds of this family-run enterprise before learning about the process of crafting the award-winning cider itself. Our focus on food and drink continues as we make our way to a local bakery where we enjoy a unique demonstration on how to prepare a traditional Cornish pasty, a tasty meat and pastry snack still eaten by the fishermen of the region. After satisfying our appetite, we travel to the surfing town of Newquay for a sea safari to observe the native sea-life in its natural habitat perhaps spotting resident seals and dolphins around the quay. By evening we enjoy dinner at a local restaurant that overlooks the bay before driving the short distance back to our hotel.
Day 3 : Penzance, Cookery Demonstration and Trebah Gardens
This morning, the food offering is all about you; after champagne and canapés on arrival it's time to roll up your sleeves to flex your own culinary skills as you take part in a cooking demonstration and class in Penzance. Later we continue to Trebah Gardens where we'll enjoy free time to explore the valley with over four miles of footpaths meandering through a colourful array of magnolias, shrubs and trees. Finally, round off the day with a well-deserved feast at a local pub.
Day 4 : An English Vineyard and Winchester
After your breakfast this morning you can enjoy some free time before we set out on our journey returning East. On route we'll stop at a classic local country estate in the Devonshire countryside which is home to an English vineyard. We'll take a stroll amongst the vines and take in the stunning natural the beauty of the area before sampling some of the local produce with our own cheese and wine tasting; a perfect combination! By afternoon we arrive in the historic city of Winchester where we'll enjoy free-time to explore before ending the day with dinner together at a local restaurant.
Day 5 : Winchester Cathedral and Lunch At Rick Stein's Restaurant
Winchester has a long history filled with Saxon kings; we'll explore the past of this unique town before meeting for a guided tour of the iconic Winchester Cathedral where we can marvel at the intricate architecture, towering spire and magnificent stained-glass windows. The cathedral is also the final resting place of local resident Jane Austen. To end the trip on a high, we make way to Rick Stein's restaurant in the heart of Winchester; Rick Stein is one of Britain's most established TV chefs and his Winchester restaurant offers principally sea-food menu of traditional dishes with a modern twist. After our memorable farewell lunch we return to London where our tour ends.
